Amulet of Raiden
The Amulet of Raiden is a mystical talisman that belonged to the Earthrealm's thunder god, Raiden. Raiden's pecoraros Amulet first appeared in Mortal Kombat (2011).
This golden, sapphire amulet with the Mortal Kombat dragon icon was originally created by the Elder Gods and was given to Raiden as a gift.
During the Mortal Kombat (2011) Story Mode, a future version of Raiden, while fighting a losing battle against Shao Kahn uses the shattered remains of his amulet to send his past self visions of the future, as well as the message "He must win."
Throughout the game, Raiden periodically checks his amulet, noticing it cracking more and more as the events progress - indicating that the future he seeks to prevent is drawing closer despite his efforts. Near the end, the amulet is shattered by Shao Kahn just as it was in the future. After the defeat of Shao Kahn, the amulet is restored to its intact self, indicating that the future has finally been changed.
Final Kombat[]
Raiden gazed onto his amulet that was gifted to him by the Elder Gods after he attained their status. He never used it until after he received disturbing visions of Armageddon, an imminent fight to the death involving all warriors that would bring an end to all of existence. So far, he saw some cracks forming on its fragile, translucent grey-blue surface, symbolizing that the events are close at hand... Liu Kang soon witnessed the same damage onto it. Overtime it shown more frequent, deeper fractures upon the clear surface. It's most likely it'd shatter once Armageddon would end to symbolize its inevitable destruction...
Lo and behold, both amulets on the Oriental and the merged Fire God were undoubtedly destroyed due to the sensitivities of Armageddon and the existence-altering destruction of Blaze...
Trivia[]
- When the amulet falls off of Raiden in the alternate timeline, the cracks on it are gone.
- In Mortal Kombat 11, Johnny Cage asks in a pre-fight intro why Raiden doesn't use the Amulet, Raiden states that it was destroyed in the time merger, despite this, it can still be seen in Story Mode and is able to be selected as a customization option.
- In MK11, Raiden stated only Kronika's able to bend time and fate, it's possible she was the one who created the amulet, and even manipulating Raiden's future self sending a message to his past self, He must win, in order to pact him and Liu Kang against each other, and giving him altered and sporadic visions to do so, thus happening before in MK11. So that Kronika would allow Kahn to invade, leave the realm vulnerable to her son domineering it, have Liu with the other Revenants and Shinnok pit against Raiden, until balance was corrupted after he was beheaded.
