Ashrah is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series, who made her debut in Mortal Kombat: Deception.
Despite having the appearance of an elegant, old-fashioned, attractive young woman, Ashrah is actually a demon from the Netherrealm. She dresses completely in white and appears as a tall, mysterious woman, a blend between aristocracy and innocence.
Ashrah made her first appearance in Mortal Kombat: Deception. Within the Mortal Kombat series, she is something of a stand-alone character, jumping back and forth between the forces of good and evil. Her occupation is that of a demon hunter. Ashrah's weapon of choice is her Kriss, which is believed to have been "blessed" or is of a "heavenly origin".
A new version of Ashrah returns in Mortal Kombat 1 as a playable character, marking her return to the franchise in over 16 years. In the current timeline established in Mortal Kombat 1, Ashrah is a demon huntress bent on destroying Quan Chi for enslaving her, Sareena and her shadow sisters as well as purifying her soul. Following the events of Mortal Kombat 1, she develops a romantic relationship with Reptile.

The Return of the Dragon King[]
On her mission to ascend from the Netherrealm, she'd been on the hunt for slaying demons thanks to her holy sword, Kriss. Kung Lao's astral form observed her train Shujinko in order to assist her, however, since he found Ermac and his Soul Stone, he was able to win over her. Lao failed to break off the quarrel.
Ashrah was seen again as she came to Kuai's and Sareena's rescue against Noob Saibot, as he bested both of them in kombat! Combined with his brute strength and umbrakinesis, the wraith was hardly able to withstand her holy might! In fact, it seemed to be the opposite breaking off his elemental abilities while also recovering the two incapacitated kombatants! She desired to purify Bi-Han's soul, and with that she would be successful on ascending from the damned terrain! Ashrah and Noob were at a scrimmage pushing back their energies, until he was shoved from behind by Sareena! Stunned, she was able to impale Noob with Kriss and soon he dissipated! With that stunt, a light portal enabled Ashrah aloft while Kuai and Sareena rode the updraft and into a grassy field in Earthrealm!
Ashrah was also surprised to finally meet Raiden fac-to-face, who offered her help in order to purify Jax, Johnny, and Sonya's spirits from Onaga's thrall. He enlisted her to head to the Sky Temple where the latter was imprisoned. After she recovered, she took Jax and Sonya off guard by impaling them with her Kriss blade by the time the Chameleons bested each of them. She then carried them to the Jinsei where Johnny recuperated mentally and physically.
She then encountered Nightwolf within the Netherrealm as he bound Onaga's spirit as soon as the Champions weakened him enough. She quickly to the Matokan back to Earthrealm, with the portal conjured by Raiden and warned he'd no jurisdiction there.
She waited for the spiritual cleansing of Liu and Lao, even prayed for their recovery with Nightwolf's empowered tomahawk. She was thrilled the risky process was successful.
Final Kombat[]
Ashrah was addressed as the new Goddess of Light anointed by Raiden and Fujin, due to her success on defending the Temple of Elements from Onaga and his followers and as redemption from defecting the Netherrealm. She was soon met up by Sareena whom Raiden sent for a serious pep talk concerning the inevitable battle of Armageddon.
Ashrah and Sareena met up with the lone wolf, Bi-Han, who was just outside the Shirai Ryu base and defeated by Kenshi. She mocked him of his cold-heartedness and how sneaky he was to his clan in hopes on slaying Hanzo after their so-called bond between him and Kuai. Her sarcasm made Bi-Han irritated, although Sareena was more compassionate, convincing him that the clan's skilled warriors had rendezvoused in the Edenian Palace.
Ashrah rode the Netherwing to the southern crater and she soon assisted when she stunned Quan Chi with her holy might, until she was ambushed by an enraged Nitara! She kept calling her a usurper as she committed genocide killing off her vampire species wielding the accursed Datushi which infected her into believing it was used for the greater good. Deep in the scrimmage, they were about to have their existence erased by Blaze's flames, until they were encased by Liu's flame shield and blackened out. Thanks to Cetrion's rainfall, she was rejuvenated and her Kriss along with Nitara had been incinerated. It was assured, with Fujin, that the vampires won't mess with her ever again if she should stay away from them for a couple centuries. She still functioned as a guardian of Earth and moral supporter to Fujin, even when the Special Forces faced off against Kotal.
Koherence[]
Ashrah was first suggested by Fujin if he, Aiko and Kenshi should put together a small band and make a riveting rock number to purify the Shaolin's hearts while safeguarding her own from the Matoka. She actually volunteered to play as a bassist in which she hadn't used in forever. That was until she was finally safe from the Netherrealm and stayed in the Sky Temple with Raiden and Fujin.

It was easy for her to learn the number, as she knew what it was, she admired that Earthrealm has some good taste, and it was simple for her to improvise with her bass despite it being overridden by other instruments. Ashrah promised along with Kenshi to safeguard everyone's hearts when the hot dance comes. She played thru it gracefully and with no distractions, even when they had to perform the backup number when the Matokan ceremony was longer than expected. She led the way with her bass in conjunction with Kenshi's keyboard before Fujin led the main melody with his woodwind. During the second and third chorus, she went on as a backup vocalist encouraging the Shaolin, we are the champions! The number ended and she cheered with the Shaolin knowing they'd done their part!
