Awesome Possum is the titular main protagonist of his game, Awesome Possum kicks Dr. Machino's Butt. His quest is to clean up the entire planet and foil his arch-nemesis, Dr. Machino.

Awesome Possum is very similar to Sonic the Hedgehog in terms of personality, he is frequently heard saying "I'm so cool!" throughout the gameplay, making him seem arrogant and full of himself since he exclaims how "awesome" he is with a level of pride. He is rather fast and if the level is easy enough the player can just run and jump through the level. Like Donkey Kong Country, he can find animals that will assist him in a similar fashion.

Awesome Possum is a possum who is short in height. Likewise, he has dark brown fur with yellow shadings. He has a long-striped tail. He wears a blue purple bodysuit with a light blue garter belt wrapped around his waist and with a red stripe going down the side, it consists of a short-sleeved shirt and shorts, a belt is visible around his waist as well.

Awesome Possum is very agile, and he can utilize his strong legs to kick his opponents into submission.
