The Black Dragon (黒龍会 Kokuryū Kai) is a faction, a clan of mercenaries, in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series.
According to legend, the Black Dragon split from its parent organization, the Red Dragon and was founded by Morihei Uyeshiba in the first half of the 20th century. The reason the Black Dragon was founded was a deep-rooted discontent with the strict codes of honor and stealth that pervaded the Red Dragon.

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Part II[]
The Black Dragons were still at large as Sonya and Jax's CEO stated he never believed in defending other realms since they always had their hands full with them, as well as other drug/weapon dealers and enemies abroad involved in the Somalian War. Nevertheless, one of its active members, Kano, escaped Kahn's captivity and into Earthrealm when it and Outworld began to merge. Kabal and Stryker spotted him in the New York streets, and the former massacred him as he screeched so loudly, Kano's skeleton ran and tripped making his bones shatter!
A Date and a Destiny[]
It was mentioned by Raiden to Aiko that the Great Kung Lao also conflicted against the Black Dragon 500 years ago, even when they attacked Jen and murdered her father, Baron, since he refused to pay their debts. Luckily, Lao, Siro, and his allies took Jen's post and were proven a match to them.
Shinnok's Uprising[]
Two years later, the Black Dragon became more and more infinitesimal, though Sonya managed to find the fugitive, Jarek, in Shanghai. Unfortunately, he escaped and soon followed a portal after Jax and into Edenia. He found Sonya, evading his advances off the cliff, till Jarek pulled her off then saved by Kung Lao! Jarek was then cornered by Jax and dropped off the cliff then into the lake, bleeding and sinking like a stone.
Final Kombat[]
For a time, the Black Dragons were eventually reformed as Kano and Jarek returned from the dead, or rather from the Netherrealm. They did, at first, were stationed in Australia until the gang went on a hunting spree as they infiltrated the Red Dragon base in Krimson Forest, causing a massive ruckus. Both factions were gathered all in one place as the stronghold was firebombed! It's likely that only Kano was buried alive while Jarek managed to escape, after being killed then revived by Shinnok. He was later seen gathering with the Forces of Darkness in Edenia's southern crater and Jarek fought off Kai. He was then defeated and obliterated by Blaze's and Liu's firestorm! The Black Dragons were forever perished, and the Shokan restored peace to Australia.
