Black Shadow is a cold-blooded king of evil feared by all. He is wanted by the Galactic Federation, yet he often shows up at the Extraterritorial F-Zero circuits as if they are his own. However, Captain Falcon has seen much success capturing his foot soldiers, and Black Shadow wants nothing more than to see the end of this meddling bounty hunter, preferably in front of millions of fans. It's inevitable that in any race he enters, there will be some kind of huge accident.
Personality[]
Black Shadow has been shown to be extremely evil, cold, and cruel. He does not take into consideration the effects his actions have on other people. When provoked, he doesn't hesitate to fight back and punish those who cross him. He only values people if they can serve a useful purpose, as he saves Miss Killer several times from certain death.
He deeply hates Captain Falcon, who has captured several of his minions and foiled several of his plans. Knowing that Falcon participates in the F-Zero Grand Prix, Black Shadow had his own machine built so that he could enter and kill Falcon in front of millions of viewers. However, it is hinted that he also just simply loves destroying other machines at will.
He has also been portrayed as psychotic but extremely cunning. He is known to laugh at the sight of destruction or when setting a deadly trap, showing how twisted he is. This is further evidenced in the anime when he enters a race just to wreak havoc.
Anime[]
Black Shadow is the leader of the evil organization known as Dark Million and is the primary antagonist in the anime. He's still just as ruthless as ever and is accompanied by Zoda, Miss Killer, Baba, Octoman, Bio Rex, The Skull, and sometimes Pico. Strangely enough, Deathborn and Don Genie also exist as two of his disguises. Much like them, he controls the F-Zero Committee behind the Task Force's backs, and also wants to achieve his dream utilizing all the Reactor Mights to remake a universe of evil by halting the expansion left by the Big Bang, causing it to compress and destroy all planets, and creating a second Big Bang born from malice.
Black Shadow meets his demise at the end of Episode 51, where Rick Wheeler has activated the Boost Fire going around the generator, causing it to explode. Infuriated, he leaps out of the exploding Black Bull and goes after Falcon one last time. Captain Falcon tells Rick that he is to become the next Captain Falcon, then jumps out of the Blue Falcon and performs the iconic Falcon Punch on Black Shadow to prevent him from escaping the blast radius. Black Shadow screams and Captain Falcon smiles serenely as the explosion from the generator engulfs them, ending both their lives and saving the universe from Black Shadow's insane ambitions.

Ikran's F-Zero timeline[]
Black Shadow was first rumored to be the culprit of the Horrific Accident at Fire Field during the original F-Zero race. After all, it was him who had stolen Falcon's DNA while he was being hospitalized. Throughout the seven-year suspension, he has been training in the underworld, as was Blood Falcon in which he became his master. By the time it was over, he made his first official appearance, though Capt. Falcon beat him in every race, even when Black unleashed his secret weapon, the clone of the champion! For his many failures, Deathborn got furious, even during a test race in a desolate track! He warned if he'd fail to win the GX Grand Prix, he'll know the price for failure!
Black has been wreaking havoc everywhere as newsbreaks broke out, even when he got to the Lightning area. It was then when Tinsel, Yugi, and Joey encountered the emperor of brutality for the first time, even Blood Falcon! He was able to trap Falcon inside his machine while a speed-sensitive bomb was about to go off, though the hero's life was spared thanks to the cocky Duelist! He wasn't fazed by his survival, and he knew he'd lose the GX race. So, Falcon and Tinsel teamed up, after giving her a crash course, and defeated both big bads! As a result, for losing, Deathborn officially killed him and made him dissolve by severe plasma electrocution!
Black Shadow had been seen after that as he raided the Alcatrand prison; it wasn't escape proof as he killed all the workers there and awakened both Zoda, and eventually Haruka's corpse. He used a Dark Reactor Might to transform him into the mutant, and formed his own organization named Dark Million! Everyone was alarmed by the shocking news of his revival! Even Falcon, no matter how many times he managed to defeat him; he soon realized he can't defeat him by himself as it turned out he was the embodiment of Yin, or the Bull, symbolizing wrath, darkness, slowness and aggression. After he defeated the Creators, Falcon decided to make a successor in order to turn the tides, then Rick was resurrected. Jody, then Tinsel, explained on who he was and his purpose, and he soon gathered more recruits. Even resurrected Haruka's vessel, with the Skull's black magic and Dark Reactor Might, and made her into a demon using her body to overturn the competition!
At times, he was successful, even when he and Zoda concocted an experimental solution on Tinsel as she was training at the Hovercraft Hub in Tortiz 3. The brainwashing was effective, and so he gathered the 3 Reactor Mights of Darkness to warp the Mobile Task Force: the first subject being the Rising Star, Rick. While the heroes were reuniting, he still got the upper hand as he and Dr. Stewart found the missing formula and captured Rodney! He then had a split victory with Rick in the Lightning Championship, thanks to a double Black Fire! He unveiled everything to his test subject and gladly hoped he'd join their side again, even convincing him to relax and let the solution seep into his mind. Unfortunately, he escaped, and his rage from a Light Might incinerated half his face! He still continued on searching for the 3 Mights and developed the Reactor Core; although it was Deathborn in disguise doing all the dirty work!!
He counterstruck the heroes as they infiltrated Dark Star, and only allowed the Falcon Flyer passage since it housed the 3 missing Mights to power his machine! As he faced Yami and Falcon, his vessel soon shattered and revealed to be the true bringer of chaos, the cyborg himself!!
Trivia[]
- He looks similar to a bull hence his machine's name: Black Bull.
- Black Shadow's machine Black Bull was mistakenly named after his own name in the F-Zero GP Legend Instruction Booklet.
- His appearance resembles DC Comics' character, Batman.
- His appearance also resembles Devimon from the Digimon Adventure anime.
- Oddly enough, in the anime, Deathborn is a follower of Black Shadow, while in the game F-Zero GX Black Shadow fears and obeys Deathborn as if he's his master.
- In Lap 30 of the anime, Bart said he hates him, and he's known to have a dark driver's license.
- In Lap 43, Bart said he was born on August 15, he's a devil, and he likes hot food and hot springs.
- In Lap 48, his machine number is 30 because of the length of his feet. He failed at love 30 times, he never went to the toilet alone before age 30, and he pulls out 30 grey hairs every day.
- He is the most requested F-Zero character to become a playable fighter in the Super Smash Bros. series.
- While he doesn't appear in Super Smash Bros. Melee, his machine the Black Bull does on the Big Blue stage, and as a trophy with the other machines that appear in F-Zero X.
- He appears as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U.
- Black Shadow appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a spirit in the Spirits Mode. His spirit is represented by Ganondorf and has Captain Falcon in his Blood Falcon inspired skin assisting him.
