Blaze is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series.

Blaze made his debut as a background character in Mortal Kombat II and made his playable debut in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance as a hidden character.

Blaze returned in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, serving as a playable character and final boss.

First introduced in the series as a non-playable character seen in the background of the Pit II arena in Mortal Kombat II, Blaze was depicted as an elemental being from Outworld shrouded in flames. As his name and appearance suggests, he has control over fire, lava, heat, etc.

In Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Blaze became a playable character and gained more background information. He would later become the final boss of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Blaze's first chronological appearance was supposedly in Mortal Kombat II, visible only as a burning figure in the Pit II background, fighting a character that fans have since named Hornbuckle does not come without controversy. Daegon is described in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon as being awoken centuries prematurely, due to Caro losing mental contact with Blaze (because of his imprisonment guarding the last dragon egg) and mistook that for the signal to awake Daegon. Also, in Blaze's Armageddon Bio, Blaze is set free after the egg hatches during the events of Deception and is unaware that Daegon was awoken prematurely. It's not until Blaze gives the signal to wake both brothers, he learns that Daegon had already been freed. If the burning figure in Mortal Kombat II was truly Blaze, that means Blaze had been imprisoned to guard the egg sometime after Mortal Kombat II, which means Daegon could not have been awoken centuries earlier because Blaze would have known. With the Black Dragon dating back to before the first Mortal Kombat and the Red Dragon dating back beyond that, it seems the burning figure seen in Mortal Kombat II could not have been Blaze, since at the time he was already guarding the egg.

Final Kombat[]

Blaze addressed before Kitana in her private quarters. He assured her that when Armageddon comes, her enemies will be destroyed as she became distraught with each victory leading to a greater konflict. He urged her to gather her allies once more for the final kombat.

It was rumored by Fujin that Blaze had set off the firebomb at the Red Dragon base in the Krimson Forest, but it only turned out to be a mysterious elemental launching it and freeing Caro.

He has been seen in Raiden's visions at times. And Caro admitted he awakened Daegon prematurely ages ago as he lost mental contact with him thus assuming it was the signal to do so. The same Oriental that saved him decided to investigate the situation; he was able to rewind from the time Blaze met Kitana and followed him to the Lava Shrine where he was imprisoned by Onaga's holy men. The zealots surrounded the dragon egg being incubated, while Blaze remained hapless inside the distant pools for thousands of years. Blaze was finally able to become free as soon as the egg hatched and shot out a beam of light into Reptile taking the form of the Dragon King. Since then, he was awakened, warned Kitana, and stood by for Armageddon.

Blaze then met up with Taven and Daegon as soon as the hell spawn teleported them both to the Edenian Ruins. The brothers were about to take a fight to the death until Blaze informed the quest had been corrupted and attempted, though failed, to convince them they must continue it. Blaze stood idly by until Taven emerged victorious. He was reluctant since his entire family turned and were killed, until Blaze coaxed, he must defeat him in Mortal Kombat; whereas if one brother should win, the warriors would be killed, while the other spares them but strips their abilities. Taven wondered which side he was on, but Blaze remained placid. He urged Taven to pick off the sacred sword Daegon wielded, crossed the portal and witnessed Blaze's and the Pyramid's ascension. He then burnt the top of the structure encouraging all the Kombatants to reach him, thus in a bloody race killing each other; Liu, Lao, Taven and Fujin avoided that fate, even Chameleon and Khameleon who're disguised as statues. The Saurians teleported the quartet up and knowing a mortal can't seize victory, Liu took him on alone. He was successful, weakening the elemental greatly. But Blaze had one more nasty surprise...

Being the victor wasn't Taven nor Daegon and was a perversion of his creator's plans, Blaze was desperately trying to incinerate everything and everyone from existence!! Liu and Raiden combined managed to change the eruption's trajectory aloft while also blasting a firestorm as a massive flame shield to encoat his allies. With that, both Blaze and the merged Fire God seized to exist...
