Boost Fires are only available in F-Zero Climax and the anime series.
Boost Fire (Game version)[]
There are two techniques that are considered Boost Fire by the race commentator.
First, Boost Fire is when the player further boosts, which makes them go even faster. Each Boost Fire will make the glow yellow and will cost one Reactor Might in Climax (One point gained per lap). You can use this to extend boost times to go twice as far in boost mode.
Second, Boost Fire occurs when the player activates a booster while the player is performing a spin attack. This technique is called Spin Booster by Bart Lemming, as he teaches you in a tutorial. The perk of this ability is that the player's attacking ability will increase as well as speed. In addition, the commentator will pronounce "Boost Fire!" slightly differently than using regular Boost Fire's Reactors.
Death Anchor and Black Bull have purple colored Boost Fire compared to other vehicles' yellow.
Regular Boost Fire (Anime)[]
In the anime series, Boost Fire is boosting and spinning at the same time. There is no color change to the vehicle's aura. This is possible to stimulate in Climax by spinning then boosting, but it doesn't really do much than a normal boost.
Black Fire (Anime)[]
Only available to the Death Anchor, Black Bull or any other machine with a purple aura, this requires 2 Reactors in a single machine. It is slightly faster than the original and lasts approx. 2 seconds longer. Again, this can be stimulated in Climax, but will only prove stylish.
Full Power Boost Fire (Anime)[]
Only available to the Dragon Bird EX in the anime; this is when Rick literally pulls the lever to the back till it breaks. This is much faster than the Black Fire and this can be activated by two Mights. This is applied only once during Lap 51 of the anime series.
F-Zero Overdrive[]
In the bootleg fandub, this technique was pronounced as Boost Fire, though only Ryu announced the technique while using it, as Black Shadow and Falcon remained silent; perhaps just to avoid redundancy. Ryu's desperate attempt was known as Boost Fire Overdrive as he destroyed Black Sun!
Ikran's F-Zero timeline[]
Since the Japanese version pronounced it BOOSTAH FIRE! Ikran decided to name it Booster Fire instead; no longer being mixed up with the basic Boost Fire.
They weren't used officially until her epic, Ending it All, particularly when Falcon discovered a Reactor Might inside each of Clash's prototype vehicles, the Silver Comet and Dragon Bird. When Rick entered the garage of the Task Force base, he told they have a Might similar to his. He then decided to train Rick personally at his Fortress and taught him the technique!
At first, he was unable to master it, as there was too much input into him and the Dragon Bird, causing it to lose control! He recovered for a few days and Falcon assured he can handle it with time and effort, and the heart must remain pure in order for him to use it. He also warned that Dark Million has mastered it as well. Rick was finally able to perform the special move at Falcon's Aero Dive simulation, defeating him!
Rick and Falcon used it again at the Cosmo Terminal quarterfinals, as did Miss Killer! She was equivalent to Rick's Booster Fire. Falcon warned him earlier Dark Reactor Mights had been found.
Later on, Rick trained Tinsel to use the Booster Fire at Mute City's Traditional Park before the Death Wind semifinals. She was unable to master it, as the spin boost was too much for her; however, her machine was unscathed. She recovered the following night, and while Rick was enlisting Samurai Goroh's help, Falcon taught her how to use it more properly. Her icy heart shall fuel this technique, similar to Gohan's rage as Super Saiyan 2!
Rick was able to defeat Falcon at his final challenge in the Phantom Road simulation! It was then the bounty hunter decided to anoint him as his successor.
The three used the Booster Fire as they sandwiched with each other, while the Moon Shadow caught up and advanced to the Championship. Tinsel was able to counter Blood Falcon's Blood Fire after he wrecked the Twin Noritta, as she had a flashback using the Hell Hawk's grip to its disadvantage! Falcon and Rick were able to withstand Black Shadow's first Booster Fire; however, the elitist failed to warn Rick of the possibility of using... a second Booster Fire!! The Emperor caught the men off guard as Falcon bailed onto the Flyer, though Rick was rendered unconscious. Falcon, Rick, and Tinsel used it again to escape Dark Star.
Two Reactor Mights were installed into the revamped Dragon Bird EX, in order to withstand the Dark Schneider. They were only at a standoff, until Falcon disabled the Reactor Core, only to have Rick destroy it with the Full Power Booster Fire! As a result, Falcon sacrificed himself when he forced Deathborn into the obliviating Core!

Rick and Tinsel's technique, Fire and Ice
Currently, Rick, as the Young Capt. Falcon, has one in his Blue Falcon GT while occasionally switching to two in his Dragon Bird EX. Tinsel still has one in her Silver Comet. Though since Dark Star was decimated, the three Dark ones needed to be found and taken to the Federation. Rick and Tinsel are so close, that they came up with their own signature move, Fire and Ice!
