This dangerous jungle-like region is known as the "Botan Jungle." It is located in Earthrealm and it made its debut in the Konquest mode of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.
This dense jungle is where Taven begins his quest as he finds and reaches his father's temple to seek answers. The Red Dragon clan operate heavily in the area, as Daegon has them waiting for Taven's arrival. The Black Dragon thugs including Kobra and Kira, led by Kabal, learned about the Red Dragon scouts, and prepared to attack the Temple of Argus. Taven happened to stumble upon them as they were preparing to attack and managed to stop them all.

Final Kombat[]
It functioned the same way as it did in the game, but unlike Armageddon, Kitana met up with Taven instead of the Black Dragon thugs. She challenged him to a battle to prove he was the real deal to which he easily won. Grateful, she explained that she received a message from Blaze to prepare for Armageddon, and that she'd been traveling discreetly from her home in search of her allies. Kitana wished him luck before he wound up inside an obelisk, where Argus trained him to regain his lost strength and skills. He soon wound up back there and came across the deserted square where he was ambushed by Red Dragons. He then found the Temple, then was captured by Sektor and the new Tekunin clan, and soon escaped from the warship while collecting lost artifacts as the Special Forces shot it down. He then returned to Orin.

- The forest is presumably located somewhere in South America since there are temples hidden throughout some jungles of the area.
