Fan Fiction

Caro is a red guardian Dragon of the Realm of Edenia, who is ordered by Edenia's Protector God, Argus, to awaken his sons Taven and Daegon in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

According to the game's Konquest mode, Caro somehow lost telepathic contact with Blaze sometime shortly after the two brothers were entombed, and, mistaking this for the signal the fire elemental would use as the call to Armageddon's arrival and the beginning of their quest, awoke Daegon prematurely. Daegon, enraged at the trickery of his parents, seemingly killed them and enslaved Caro, using his name and likeness as the basis for the Red Dragon clan. Daegon also used his ability to create portals to transport his troops anywhere in the realms, and his DNA to create a race of half-human dragon creatures. He was freed from his servitude by Taven, and despite his weakened state, took his revenge on Daegon by destroying his precious Red Dragon clan and headquarters. His final fate is unknown, though it is heavily implied by Taven that Caro may have died alongside the Red Dragon clan.

In Mortal Kombat X, Caro makes a cameo appearance in Takeda's arcade ending, where he's discovered by Takeda and Kenshi again as a prisoner of the Red Dragon clan, and revealed Daegon to them as Suchin's murderer, then transported the two to a cave where Taven was encased to free him, saying he would also have a reason to confront Daegon.

Final Kombat[]

Caro's Wings

Caro was first seen inside his imprisonment with the lethal electrical chains as the Red Dragons base began to collapse. Caro was hapless and Quan Chi and Reptile escaped, leaving him stranded! That was until an Oriental conjured his own fiery portal and shattered his shackles! Caro was still very weak to make out his rescuer as he escorted him to a tropical island; he limped, but he was free after years of torment. He fell onto the sand, and he rested on a nearby cushion, while a female Edenian gave him fresh fruits for strength. He was then losing consciousness and vitality, until the kind elemental jacked him Jinsei energy! Caro then appreciated his new comrades, and he explained his predicaments involving Daegon enslaving him, killing his and Taven's own parents, and been on the hunt for Blaze to obtain the so-called prize Daegon desired! The female warrioress sympathized with his plight as she too lost her family while also being enslaved to serve evil...

Caro wished to set things right as soon as he recovers, but the Chinese warrior assured Caro to rest while HE took care of business.

It wasn't, however, until Caro traversed into the Netherrealm as he flew over the Sea of Blood, and saved Aiko in the nick of time! She was ecstatic riding a real dragon, before he unleashed his fury onto Kharon's Ship! The damage was so great that the vessel began to sink much to her alarm! She urged Caro to lift her friends, but it was thanks to Frederick's blip ability that transported everyone off the ship and onto the sharp island consisting of Shinnok's Spire. He then landed and introduced himself as the regretful mascot of the Red Dragons and slave to Daegon. He was set as a backup fighter while the heroes ascended thru some gauntlet trials until they found Taven! He was excited to see Caro after several millennia, despite Raiden's disdain on him assisting Shinnok. As the group received twisted intel on the former Elder God's doppelganger, Caro offered to conjure a portal back to Earthrealm, though he warned it'd take a lot of his stamina, like making the rip for Hanzo to escort Havik into the Chaosrealm. The heroes were successful, until Caro collapsed from the exertion.

Taven and company went to Caro's side, although Raiden separated the group moments later to give him Jinsei energy. He then offered to escort Aiko and Caro to the Grotto for recovery and Lao and Taven offered to tag along, although the latter had a change of heart after Caro confessed that Daegon has become more evil than they recognize, even killing their parents as he was upset about the quest. Waking him up prematurely as soon as he lost telepathic connections with Blaze had some unforeseeable effects and he kept on blaming himself, despite Raiden forgiving him and believed his intentions are still good after saving Aiko and assisting the team. Taven wanted to discuss matters with Orin, and he went to his cave. As Caro was healing with Aiko and Kung Lao in tow, he monitored over the reactions of her heart gem and the hallucinations as the deformed Shinnok was communicating with them; after they saw an engraving with its head erased, Caro came to the conclusion that Blaze isn't just an embodiment of the end and destruction, but if one shall be exposed to his fatal flames, they don't pass on, but rather have a fate worse than death, being erased from existence...

Minutes later, he, Lao and Aiko were escorted by Raiden out of the Dragon Grotto after their slumber. He agreed everyone's been bugged by Shinnok using his mimicked cardiokinesis and Raiden recommended to discard them at the Academy until Armageddon as an energy source. He soon persuaded the dragon to coax Orin at the tropical island and see if that Oriental is Liu Kang or not. He did, and the two dragons reunited after millennia on being separated and duty bound. They were still watching over Taven as he headed thru Outworld and Kahn's Fortress, even when he received the signal from the Oriental on conjuring a portal for Hanzo and Taven to make their hasty escape from the conspiring overlords.

Caro and the quartet calmed down as soon as the duo escaped, although he remained uneasy as he wondered how and why he lost Blaze's telepathic connection, thus Daegon's premature awakening and corruption as Caro thought it was a sign of Armageddon. By the Edenian's suggestion, the Oriental volunteered to investigate Blaze's predicament following him back from the time he met with Kitana. From there, he rewound several millennia to the Lava Shrine where Blaze remained stuck in a pool as Onaga's egg was being incubated and surrounded by his holy men. By the time the egg hatched and possessed Reptile's body. Blaze was no longer shackled. Caro was relieved he was only imprisoned by the Dragon King's fanatics, and they continued to monitor over Taven.

He soon discovered that the Red Dragons had another rivaling faction, the Black Dragons, who broke off from Daegon's clan due to their tyranny; no surprise since Daegon turned corrupt. Caro was also astonished that a rogue member from the Lin Kuei broke off and formed the Shirai Ryu as well, this having them kill each other even before the first tournament. Unlike Taven and Daegon, Kuai and Hanzo buried the hatchet, and the Oriental wished that Bi-Han would do the same... He also assured the Red Dragons had been trapped and severely wounded in the firebomb, so it's likely they won't interfere in the final battle against Blaze.

Caro lamented over Daegon's death after Taven defeated him at the Edenian Ruins. The Oriental reminded the dragon that he chose the path of evil, and everyone has a right for their own destiny. Still, he prayed to the Elder Gods that Taven and his friends would survive Armageddon.

Caro was able to bring Aiko's heart gem to the island which revitalized the fallen Edenian and left Kitana's body to dissolve. He and Orin were struck as Blaze destroyed the Pyramid and the Kombatants. He soon noticed only the heroes were alive, including Taven, although Liu and Raiden perished and erased... He met up with Aiko and led her near the Hourglass where Kitana stood. It was soon decided that with Armageddon passed, Caro decided to stay with Kitana and Fire God Liu Kang's journey as they should travel thru time.

Kontentment[]

Caro conjured a red portal after Aiko was training with the White Lotus. She noticed the red dragon's snout thru the rip and followed him in, leading to Yin Yang Island. However, a storm was picking up rapidly and she followed him to a nearby cave. She noticed it was him then and was happy to see him after so long! Caro nuzzled her and she noticed Liu and Kitana were gone; he stated they went thru time to settle down and they wanted to give the heroes time to readjust after Armageddon. She was impressed how the cave was suitable for them as the trio redesigned it! Knowing she's an astraphobic, Caro relaxed her near the large burning urn and highlighted what the couple has been up to.

Aiko complimented on the elders resetting time! She wondered if that was when she was sent back in time, although Caro mentioned something was still off... After his victories over Shang, he began to lose his strength while wielding the Krown. He was able to go back to the dawn of time with Kitana unaffected and collapsed thru the portal. He mentioned he spent most of his days in Edenia as Kitana hastily wore the crown and expedited the Hourglass! Liu became attached to the other realm as it was regale and more peaceful, and they had the chance to reunite with Sindel and Jerrod, but...the babies, Kitana and Mileena, weren't born yet. He did recuperate, though, not fully. Although he decided to expedite the Hourglass to the conflict of Outworld involving Shao Kahn after overthrowing Onaga! He assisted Argus, Delia, Taven, Daegon, Orin and Caro against the Konqurer and his generals, although he still felt weakened from overexertion. Aiko was surprised Caro didn't remember him, unless that timeline was reverted... Although Argus explained Liu lacked worship, a God's strength while receiving prayers and likeness to perform astonishing feats. It didn't take long for the Edenians to do so, and Argus guided him to the pantheon, granting his request on ascending Kitana to goddess without death! She was grateful of the offer, and Sindel and Jerrod gave them their blessings before they decided to tie the knot!

Caro mentioned they actually returned to the dawn of time when and where their time-hopping started, to avoid the Elder Gods' and Titans' eyes as they got intimate. Aiko wondered when the Achilles Heel was as how they wound up the way things are... Caro mentioned the death of the Great Kung Lao; after defeating Shang, then after 50 years, he was severely injured at the four hands of Goro! No matter how hard Liu trained him, he won, but succumbed to his injuries and perished... Ashamed, Liu undid everything... He was so wrecked by guilt that he decided to no longer mingle with mortals and instead returned to the Chaotian Age, then sculptured the stronghold at Yin Yang Island before he expedited to the first modern tournament...

Caro also mentioned Liu had his memory toggled by the time Aiko was at a ripe age, he recalled his Revenant self; he expedited time to see the dystopian future which occurred after he died, amongst several other Kombatants... He watched her make a suicidal move onto the undead horde with an abandoned automobile and he instantly blipped her 16 years into the past!! And before the heroes found the Deadly Alliance, Liu sped up time again, although he accidentally went 500 years into the future and escorted Baraka away with an era ruled by Kano!

Aiko wondered how the Hourglass and Krown'd be protected, and Caro proudly stated he's the new Keeper of Time being trained by Liu himself, even against his Dragon Animality, until Kitana tamed the beasts before they got out of hand! Liu also staunched his aging after eons on watching over the inanimate Daegon and his enslavement. She wondered how the isle'd be protected from natural disasters. but with Liu and Caro's temporal abilities, they created a barrier to protect everything from harm.

By the time his tale ended, so did the tropical storm. Kitana announced to Aiko from the rear that she has someone who she likes to meet. She was actually holding a light-blue bundle of cloth and a sleepy baby boy was inside! After she mentioned Liu, Orin, Taven, and the Edenians be there for her, she rested for several hours before they headed home; Liu was astonished to become a father, and they made Caro to be his proud guardian dragon for the next generation to be the Chosen One!

AiKang alternate timeline[]

BabyCaro II

Baby Caro II

During the roleplay with Titan Liu Kang and his wife, Aiko, he decided to have kids, but she turned it down as children'd be too stressful. So she eventually decided for them to raise a pet, particularly a dragon. After their honeymoon, and as she was at work, Liu ventured into the mountains and met an old man who offered him a dragon egg. A couple days of incubation later, the egg hatched in an afternoon after it moved a little. Aiko decided on the name Caro, since she missed the og red dragon and never saw him again... It was indeed a male baby crimson dragon and AiKang adored raising it.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike in MKA, Caro won't die at the hands of the Red Dragons nor Daegon; instead, he escaped his abused fate thanks to a mysterious Oriental who escorted him to his sanctuary at the Yin Yang Island. He may have a more prominent role in Final Kombat. Ikran felt sympathetic for the serpent due to Daegon's abuse for so long and his minute roles throughout the series.
  • Caro may be voiced by Don Brown, the same VA who played Lens on ReBoot.
  • Being that the guardian dragons' mouths never move when they speak, it may be implied they talk to people telepathically, much as like Mewtwo in Pokémon.
  • In the oneshot, Kontentment, Caro unveiled that Fire God Liu Kang assisted him, Orin, Argus, Delia, Taven and Daegon during the first tournament against Shao Kahn, before Liu erased all of his deeds due to the tragedy of the Great Kung Lao. It was thru that experience in which he and Kitana recognized the dragons and the Edenians, thus saving Orin and Caro in Final Kombat and assisting Taven in Armageddon!
