Both Chameleon and Khameleon are Saurian warriors, male and female respectively, that wear rainbow garbs and are from the lost, abandoned realm of Zaterra. They're also reptilian warriors who possess camouflage and mimic every ability known to both male and female ninjas across all realms (Scorpion's spear, Sub-Zero's ice shot, Yellow Surge from Tanya, Kitana's Square Wave, etc.). This was a contrast to the main series since Chameleon's known to be a part of the Forces of Darkness and creation by Shao Kahn, while Khameleon's from the Forces of Light. Actually, this was inspired by their camaraderie in the sprite animation series, MK: Reconciliation.
Both Saurians functioned as spies, though their roles weren't prominent until Shinnok's Uprising. Since Edenia and Zaterra were spared when Liu Kang decimated Shao Kahn, they and the Saurian race were no longer living in fear and were less scarce. They were actually keeping an eye out of their people and Syzoth when the Edenian War was transpiring; they ordered their race to turn on the treacherous reptilian since he was making arrangements with Shinnok, thus being a threat to the realms. Together, they slaughtered the traitor and the pair, along with their race, became honorary members of the Edenian Resistance! They also enlisted their kind to assist the heroes against the Tarkatan army for the Deadly Alliance, even declaring war on Onaga and his followers with the Living Forest as the battleground to their homefield advantage. They rigged acidic and chlorokinetic traps for the undead followers and kept them busy, especially incapacitating Sonya and Jax. They were once cornered but things went quiet upon Onaga's defeat and imprisonment. They recovered and enlisted their help, even Mileena's, before the Battle of Armageddon, although they blended in as a pair of statues amongst the Pyramid of Argus. Fire God Liu Kang noticed them, and they teleported him, Lao, Taven and Fujin to a higher floor where they eventually confronted Blaze and other invaders. After being spared from Blaze's incineration and recovered from the Elder Gods' tears, their lives were spared along with the flourishing race.
