This couple was a very difficult decision made by TheIkranRider. She wasn't sure who exactly should be Link's official mate, whether it'd be Saria, Navi, Malon, Zelda, Ruto, Nabooru, or even worse Namira! As they always either were illogical or ineffective.
It wasn't until a rainy day which gave her inspiration, and since they'd been thru a long time fighting evil and saving Hyrule, as well as living and mingling with nature, it was decided! Aside from Navi, they were nearly unstoppable when they're together. With Link's weaponry combined with Zelda II's camaraderie with her Pokémon, as well as living in a peaceful, natural environment based on their living conditions in the Kokiri Forest and the frontier respectively!
Link was insecure on finding a mate, and the Trainer was crushed once he chose the princess; however, Impa and Sheik agreed it was for the best. Who knows, maybe Zelda II should attain the title as the Heroine of Time someday.
