Woobies

A woobie (named for a child's security blanket) is that character you want to give a big hug, wrap in a blanket and feed soup to when he or she suffers so very beautifully. Woobification of a character is a curious, audience-driven phenomenon, divorced almost entirely from the character's canonical morality.

These are characters who invoke sympathy from the audience and characters. They need a hug, badly. A wobbie is a character male or female who goes through horrific torture and sometimes even cries and complains about what happening or happened them. They are put under constant stress and angst to create emotional attachment to the character.

Terrible things that can cause a character to become one and what needs to happen to be considered one.

• They are nice caring individuals.
• Being Raped or sexually assaulted.
• They are put under stress and break down when it goes too far.
• Losing loved ones.
• Having suffered/ or are suffering from an incurable disease.
• Being Betrayed or hurt by their "friends." or others.
• Diagnosed with a mental disease such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
• Had or are suffering guilt and self-blame for something they didn't do.
• Sometimes they can be jerks or villains like Scrouge or Bender, but you can pity them if their situations are dire, and they have shown a nicer side.
