Originally and forever known as the Celestial Portal, formerly known as Portal, featured in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance is said to be known only to sorcerers and deities. This ancient waystation is located in Outworld and transports its users to Earthrealm. It is forever watched over by two floating statue heads of old Asian sages. To earn the right to pass, however, one must face and defeat a representation of his or her most powerful adversary. Holding by the four support pillars of the Celestial Portal is a Portal Sphere.
It can only be accessed by sorcerers and the gods, especially the Elder Gods. The Deadly Alliance used this portal to get to Earthrealm in order to murder Liu Kang, after they apparently killed Shao Kahn, and then with Mavado to get back to Outworld. Raiden then used it to bring his chosen warriors to Outworld to fight the Deadly Alliance.

Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]
The Celestial Portal was visited by the heroes led by Raiden and Fujin after they left Shang Tsung's Island. The Thunder God warned the group they must endure a trial representing their greatest enemy! Johnny made a witty rebuff that the Nethership would've been more comfortable compared to the protective, secretive waystation; in Kung Lao's case it happened to be his dystopian Revenant self, whom he and Aiko recognized! Both Laos were at a standoff, until Liu offered to take over the Shaolin's body, empowering him with pyrokinesis and his own moves which were too much for the undead! He incinerated him and put an end to his suffering, thus clearing the way to Outworld. Raiden reminded the heroes they're on their own after crossing over. He and Fujin wished the guys luck while they stood guard.
