Chocobo [ˈtʃoʊ.kɵˌboʊ], also called Chocob, is a recurring animal in the series. Large avian creatures, chocobos roughly act as the Final Fantasy equivalent of horses, being domesticated for use as mounts, for pulling carts and carriages and for racing. Since their first appearance in Final Fantasy II, they have appeared in every game in the series in some capacity. As a mainstay they could be considered the series's mascot.
Trials of a King/Conquest of the Blue Planet[]
Chovobos were found in both stories for Final Fantasy IV. A Black Chocobo was ridden by Namingway as he visited Troia and met up with Cecil and Cid before his 21st birthday bash! He also used the same Chocobo as he led Cecil away from Tenebre and to Baron.
Cecil found several of them as they were fleeing from one of their signature forests as the sky abruptly churned crimson as the sun was bleeding and forming massive cracks combining themselves! They turned stormy as the earth became hot! Luckily, this was Cecil's nightmare while he stayed in Fabul.
There was also Chocobo Eggs scrambled and fried, cooked by Sheila before Cecil's journey to Mt. Ordeals.
Cecil took a Black Chocobo after he landed the Enterprise discreetly; only a Black Chocobo can fly over water and land in the Tenebre forest. It soon fled as Domin's drums conjured darkness throughout the island! There were also a few Chocobos, in Feymarch, suffering with the Eidolons from Domin's sinister power!
Wintertime in Salamand[]
There was a Chocobo pulled Firion, Maria, and Guy's carriage to their winter home, Salamand. There were also 2 Chocobos now owned by Tristan and Lux, who also attempted to save Lux and Maria along with Guy when the icy pond broke!
Dissidia Shadowgate[]
There was Bartz's Chocobo companion, Boko, met up with him in the Forest of Moore with Reina and his friends during the epilogue.
There was a baby Chocobo chick inside the afro from Sazh.
