Cid Pollendina is a playable character in Final Fantasy IV and its sequel, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. He is a master engineer who designs the airships that make up the Red Wings in Baron. He is an old acquaintance of Cecil Harvey and is adventurous and fun-loving. He is the first playable Cid in the main series.
Even as an old man Cid refuses to retire and has taken Luca as an apprentice.
Trials of a King/Conquest of the Blue Planet[]
Cid was first seen as he barged into the Baron throne room inviting Cecil to Troia and its prestigious pub for his 21st birthday, something that'll shake his Chocobo tail feathers! They went to Troia using his prized airship, the Enterprise and met up with Namingway, who was also going to the same pub as it was where his first girlfriend, the Dancing Dagger, was. Cid, Cecil and Namingway attended the festivity and Cid was an expert drinker as he consumed a large container of beer with minimal effort! He even commented that the dancer had the hots for Cecil, making the Paladin lightheaded and mesmerized. When the event was over, Cid heard a woman shrieking as someone drowned in the lake! Cid dove in and noticed Cecil and his Excalibur submerged, he performed CPR and implored him to come to! Soon enough, he did, and he escorted him back to Baron and to his bedchamber. He kept his promise on not telling Rosa of the incident, just having one too many during the bash.
Later on, Cid was appalled of Cecil betraying Rosa to the Injukhal, even when he was confronting the Dark Knight, Dameon. Cid accepted the new kid despite Cecil's unfaithfulness. He later realized he wasn't a force to be reckoned with after Biggs and Wedge alerted he's a more powerful threat! He then noticed Rosa take off with the Enterprise alone, south to Aghart!
In the second part, he enlisted Biggs and Wedge as the new Lord Captains of the Red Wings in Cecil's stead while he has his hands full with Rosa's eventual delivery. He was impressed on how Cecil took care of the returning Injukhal, even preventing the village from burning. Although the men rushed to the Paladin's bedchamber to see Rosa pale and comatose! Cecil urged Cid to stay at Baron while he'll get the Glamour Greens for Rosa! He was glad when Kain returned from Mt. Ordeals, yet there was still nothing he can do! He was also alarmed when one of the Injukhal shamans showed up, and before he blew his top, Cecil assured he's the only one to make the broth with the Glamour Greens to cure Rosa! Before he faded away, he succeeded, and Cid witnessed the birth of Ceodore!
Dissidia Shadowgate[]
Cid was seen in the epilogue with Rosa and Ceodore as they saw Cecil and Kain return to Baron after several months! He even stated there was a big feast awaiting them!
