Cid as a Moogle
Cid of the Lufaine is a minor character in the Dawn of Souls, 20th Anniversary and iOS remakes of the original Final Fantasy. Though he does not appear in the game itself, he is mentioned by several townspeople in Lufenia as the ancient creator of the airship. He is also mentioned in the novelization Final Fantasy: Memory of Heroes.
Dissidia Final Fantasy and Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy expand his role in the original game considerably. Cid's past ties him easily into the creation of Chaos and Cosmos, and he serves as an overseer to the cycles of war known to the warriors as the Great Will. His backstory and his connection to Chaos and Cosmos is told through Dissidia's Chaos and Cosmos Reports, and Dissidia 012's Report. He also serves as the narrator.
Body of Dark. Heart of Light[]
Cid was seen in disguise as a Moogle, an outcast and a nomad in the world of Dissidia. Cecil came across him hovering around, and he appeared to be neutral during the conflict, though he does love the payment of Gil for equipment and Summonstones. He did welcome the troubled Paladin his open home of stone ledges, and the Paladin rested during the night. By sunrise, he awakened, and Cid wished him luck on resolving the eternal war.
Revelations of a Warrior[]
He appeared as an elderly frail swordsman who was startled to see the Warrior of Light meet him inside the dark cavern leading to Chaos' lair. They were ambushed by one of the god's mechanical cronies, which shot out a laser, weakening Cid and his Light shield. He was assisted by Warrior who refused to stay back. Then, by the time the impact threw the men off, it made the cave crumble onto them!
Minutes later, the Warrior came to first and was hurriedly looking for Cid, till he heard his weak murmur in the rubble. In his dying breath, Cid explained Warrior looked to be in his youth, and three others were created to save the world after 100 years. It, and the trio, were creations made by Cid, following Lukahn's prophecy in saving the world and restoring light to the Crystals. Warrior couldn't believe it was one of Cid's sons, nor could it fathom it "saving" its brethren once Chaos corrupted them after their defeat; they increased the strength of the Archfiends, and the Warrior fought them a second time impersonating as the fallen Warriors. Cid begged it to slay Chaos and finish what he started, before finally passing away.
