Cloud Strife (Japanese: クラウド・ストライフ, Hepburn: Kuraudo Sutoraifu) is a fictional character and the main protagonist of Square's (now Square Enix's) 1997 role-playing video game Final Fantasy VII, its high-definition remake, and several of its sequels and spinoffs. In Final Fantasy VII, Cloud is a mercenary claiming to be formerly of SOLDIER, a group of elite supersoldiers employed by the Shinra Electric Power Company, a megacorporation responsible for draining the life from the planet. Cloud joins the resistance group AVALANCHE in the fight against Shinra, and driven by a feud with his former superior, the primary antagonist Sephiroth, Cloud learns to accept his troubled past and adapts to his role as a leader.
Cloud reappears as the protagonist in the 2005 computer-animated sequel film, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, in which he fights a new threat composed of a trio attacking his allies while also dealing with his own terminal illness, "Geostigma". He acts in a supporting role in other Compilation of Final Fantasy VII titles, and is featured in several other games outside the Final Fantasy VII continuity and the 2020 remake of original game. Additionally, he has been featured in the Kingdom Hearts series by Square Enix, and in the Super Smash Bros. series by Nintendo.
Daemon Rising with a...SMASH![]
Cloud was only a lookalike as Young Link rebooted inside a Game Cube. He was with Fox, Enzo, Frisket, and Hack & Slash after Dot ordered them to play and stay in it. Young Link wasn't used to the new broadsword as it didn't fit his stature. He was able to help the team progress throughout the Shinra Mako plant, even against the security Scorpion and the User, Safer Sephiroth. Link Jr. performed a variety of swipes, even the Omnislash to finish it off and end the game!
Dissidia: Shadowgate[]
Cloud was seen as one of the 10 victors who defeated Chaos and ended the eternal conflict. As they arrived at the Cornelia Isles, they reflected on the warriors/friends they used to have. After Terra asked the Warrior what happened, Cloud was awestruck that Tifa was one of the warriors that fell against the Manikin threat in the 12th cycle. Cloud soon dissipated and wound up at Stormhaven with the 9 warriors, minus Warrior. And soon he reunited with Tifa before they started their salvage mission and infiltrate Shadowgate in order to prevent the warlock lord rise the Behemoth!
Cloud was a formidable fighter, even against the duplicating Lobos as he strategized to take out the alpha female. He also assisted Kain and Luneth taking out a wyvern with his Meteorain. Before they entered the last stronghold, Cloud was able to retain his deeper memories of Tifa, even in his childhood climbing up a mountain, Zack's and Aerith's sacrifices, his victories over Sephiroth, etc. Tifa was amazed on how far he'd come, proving himself as a true SOLDIER. By the time the Behemoth was defeated, Cloud and Tifa wound up inside the Core of the Planet. Their friends found them alive and well, and as they were heading back, Cloud received some proud feedback from the two spirits, and he realized he was no longer alone.
