Cyrax is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series, who made his debut in Mortal Kombat 3.
Making his debut in Mortal Kombat 3, Cyrax was one of the three cybernetic ninjas created by the Lin Kuei, in an effort to convert all members into unfeeling, cold-hearted, cybernetic assassins to improve their performance. Of all the three cyborgs, Cyrax appears to be specialized in Hand-to-Hand Combat. He was assigned to hunt down the renegade, former Lin Kuei member Sub-Zero as designated unit LK-4D4. Of the three cyborgs, he has become the first to recover his humanity. This is due to the efforts made by Sonya Blade and Jax Briggs. He has currently allied with them as a token of his appreciation. In the alternate timeline of MK 2011, he was automated and dutifully serves the Lin Kuei, but was visibly opposed to the process before being presumably automated against his will.

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Part II[]
Cyrax was first seen along with Sektor lurking the grounds of the Lin Kuei compound. Sub-Zero was on the hunt, mostly for his best friend, Smoke, till he found the two assassins. He was about to make his move until Raiden separated the group!
Cyrax was still with Sektor patrolling the New York streets, hunting for the Lin Kuei fugitives. He was then ambushed by Kabal and Stryker who followed him near the Bank as he and Sektor split up at a crossroads. He invaded the place, and was able to subdue Stryker, but Kabal was more skilled than him, even slicing thru his energy nets, countering his bombs, and outmaneuvering his advances, even his teleport kick. Cyrax began to leak more oil, even under his feet via Kabal's ground blades, and was able to force him up onto the roof! As the battle turned to the hero's favor, he plummeted from the roof to the street below! He was soon seen wandering aimlessly to a desert and got stuck in the sand without any orders to follow...

Cyrax was found stuck in the sand at Jade's Desert. As Sonya and Johnny were traversing thru the Cobalt Mines to reach the Edenian Palace without detection, they found him stranded! Sonya was more compassionate, despite remembering the Lin Kuei's corruption, however, she couldn't bare being lost and dying for two years! She offered him to head back to Earthrealm for repairs and nursing him back to health, since he'd no chance on survival with Shinnok's war taking place. He was too incoherent and weak to say a command, so a member of the Centaurs carried him till he was escorted by Jax thru a portal.
Sonya was summoned by Jax who made a successful experiment on restoring Cyrax's humanity!! He decided to work for the forces of Earth and refused to return to the Lin Kuei. Contrary to his appearance in Defenders of the Realm, Cyrax had a black complexion much like Sektor rather than white.
Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]
Cyrax was stated by Jax in Outworld as he reunited with Sonya that he sworn he saw a goldenrod glimmer before some large bat swooped down and took him. Sonya found his severed arm cannon and she mentioned she lost contact with the OIA including Kenshi, Cyrax and Jax ever since Hsu Hao betrayed her.
As the Dragonfly was hovering over a jungle, Sonya found that same golden glimmer! She figured it could definitely be Cyrax this time! The cryomancers went inside the dormant volcano and spotted the lone bot along with the mysterious captor. Sub-Zero went on the prowl and dove in the lava pools after him! Courtesy of his Dragon Medallion he was able to survive, as did Cyrax since the Lin Kuei designed their cyber assassins for perfection. Unfortunately, the magma damaged Cyrax's sensors and most of his basic functions. Nitara demanded him to hand over the orb he found, and after shattering it, thus severing her realm from Outworld, she conjured a portal back to Earthrealm! Cyrax limped to it and the aperture closed!
Final Kombat[]
After his recoveries from the dangerous venture in the Lava Shrine, he was more than ready to take the fight during Armageddon with the Special Forces, Stryker and Kabal. He knew for certain his enemies (Oniro and Sektor) would be there aside from the new Tekunin clan and Sonya hoped most of the fresh clan would be wiped out from the doomed warship. Still, he was ready and willing to fight alongside his ally, Smoke, again, especially with the new enhancements transferred to him.
Cyrax rode on the Netherwing en route to the southern crater where he dealt with Sektor who easily won over him. Not even his bombs nor his green net was a match for the cold-blooded assassin who kept mocking him he shouldn't convert to his human self and leave the Lin Kuei. Fortunately, despite his defective condition, he was spared by Smoke.
Both Smoke and Cyrax had their armor defective by the intense firestorm and Cetrion's tears entering their circuits; luckily, they'd been revived in the flesh. They too went thru repairs at the new Special Forces base, and he was still a crucial ally to the Special Forces several years later.
