Dr. Esuna Kavita is a physician for the Chinese Shaolin Monks and members of the White Lotus. While she's not entirely a member of those factions, even knowing Kung Lao and Liu Kang, it's likely she could be related to a member such as a sister or spouse.
After Aiko wound up 16 years into the past, Dr. Kavita became her primary medic. The rookie was shy when she first got a physical and it was surprising that Kavita knew on defending Earthrealm, courtesy on meeting patients from the Shaolin and White Lotus. She tested everything, from Aiko's height, weight, monitoring her health including recommendations on giving her a proper diet, and gave her a blood test which was confirmed she's iron deficient. It was also noted that Aiko is mentally handicapped from a petite birth.
Kavita stated Aiko must rely on a diet rich in iron and fiber. Even before Aiko moved into the Kung Kottage with Jin, Lao, and Kung Ling, the latter'd been providing them with nutritious meals' even knowing what her favorites were such as beets, fish and sushi! It's likely the entire Kung family are her patients as well.

- The surname, and her likeness, was loosely inspired by Dr. Kavita Rao from the Marvel universe, specifically X-Men 3: The Last Stand played by Shohreh Aghdashloo, who also played Dr. Anna Klyczynski from The Lake House and Commodore Paris in Star Trek: Beyond.
