Dr. Stewart (ドクター スチュワート?), sometimes referred to as Dr. Robert Stewart, was a licensed medical doctor and charismatic surgeon with legendary surgical skills. However, he was given the opportunity to become an F-Zero pilot due to the death of his father. In the game F-Zero GX, he is 42.
His father, Kevin Stewart, was known to be a scientist and professor. He is also the designer of Dr. Stewart's F-Zero vehicle, the Golden Fox.
After Kevin Stewart passed away sometime before the SNES game, Dr. Stewart subsequently retooled his father's Golden Fox and became a pilot in the F-Zero races as well where he raced against the likes of Captain Falcon, Pico, and Samurai Goroh.
Allegedly due to uncertainties in timeline, several years after his F-Zero career started, there was a huge accident that injured several pilots. In the aftermath he put his skills as a surgeon to use, and thanks to his skills, none of his patients died.
When the new F-Zero X races began, he re-entered the Grand Prix, even though the prize went to Captain Falcon. He re-entered the following year aiming to win the prize. However, he did lose to Captain Falcon who won the lighter half of the Championship Belt raced against the Champion of the Underworld, Deathborn.
F-Zero GP Legend[]
He also made an appearance in the anime, F-Zero GP Legend, as a mentor and physician who joined the Elite Mobile Task Force next to the leader, Jody Summer. He often gives advice to those in need as well as putting his medical skills to the test, especially since he took Jody to a special hospital related to cyborgs, to which he only informed Rick Wheeler of.
It was later revealed by Dr. Stewart and Jody were informed by Captain Falcon that that the galaxy would meet certain doom by Black Shadow in the 23rd century, so they must awaken Rick from cold sleep in order to combat Dark Million. Zoda was reanimated on account of the savior's coming, and Dr. Stewart was the only one who remained confident in the legend as well as reviving Rick.
In the GBA game, he was only seen briefly during Jack Levin's, Captain Falcon's and Jody's Story Modes which are loosely based on the anime, though he wasn't one of the main characters there and could still be an opponent during many of the races. He was the one who assigned Falcon to search for Dr. Clash.
Dr. Stewart was also one of the main playable characters in F-Zero Climax.
Characteristics[]
Dr. Stewart is a male who has a straight face, has dark brown hair and wears a flashy yellow jumpsuit, accented by his blue boots and gloves. He wears a flowing red scarf around his neck that hangs out over his suit. In an interview in F-Zero GX, he claims to wear this scarf as a symbol of friendship. He is also quite the ladies' man, as evidenced in the SNES comics.
He debuted with the November 21, 1990 release of the video game F-Zero in Japan. An eight-page comic was included in the manual of the 1990 SNES game, containing the original character designs of Dr. Stewart and the three other original pilots, as well as the F-Zero announcer - Mr. Zero.
Ikran's F-Zero timeline[]
Dr. Robert Stewart, as it should be mentioned, competed in all Grand Prixes, ever since the original in which his father, Kevin, can't attend because of his passing. He, along with Luna, were involved in the Horrific Accident during the original competition, and he aside from Super Arrow remained unscathed. He has participated in every one since, though he does always lose to Falcon, even in the GX competition with Tinsel.
About a few years before that, he was able to save Jody from that fatal shootout by Zoda, nearly killing her and losing her brother, Andy. Thanks to his quick thinking and experience in cyber technology, he was able to save Jody replacing her with robotic implants. He was also able to join the Elite Mobile Task Force as mentor and still retaining his physician talents. He also assisted Jody and John to revive Rick Wheeler from cold sleep.
His offspring, Rodney and Luna
He does give the team, especially Rick, some assurance and advice a lot, even restoring Jody's faith in him. He even visits his offspring, Rodney and Luna, on occasion; he had two wives, though divorced from one and married Katherine Wilson, the latter being Luna's mom. He admitted later that he fell for each due to the Florence Nightingale Effect, though he had a more genuine relationship with Katherine. Some time later, though, after Tinsel was on her way back from the Hovercraft Hub, he immediately made an experimental reversing formula from the toxic dark solution Zoda used to contaminate her cannister. The serum worked, restoring her to normal, and he monitored her distantly for the aftereffects, along with Rick reporting him.

Since then, he knew something was going on with Dark Million and on one fateful day, he hurriedly made a solution and provided Tinsel with a note, advising her she should know when the time is right. She brought it to Rodney, and he knew it was his dad's. Later on, Rodney warned his dad shouldn't retrieve the medication since the rumors were true the Task Force was corrupt. He soon had his way as he captured his son and ransacked the hospital, causing the crew to flee and retrieving the formula! He incapacitated Rodney and took him to Dark Star, awaiting to make a permanent solution to brainwash its victims. It was thanks to him advancing Black Shadow's solution since the brain was known to be 78% water, making the liquid solution the perfect material. He was astonished of Rick's immense hidden power, then his brain snapped as the Skull was obliterated by Yami!
At the secret lab, he soon awakened with no recollection who he was, nor recalling Rick, Tinsel nor Rodney. However, thanks to Rick's healing, it repaired the damaged neurons and synapses, while noticing the enhanced Dragon Bird! Robert was so proud of Rodney's bravery and valiance, though he mourned over the loss of Dr. Clash and blamed himself, wishing for the savior to arrive. He then unveiled the savior must hold all 6 Reactor Mights, those that were born in the Big Bang. 3 Dark and 3 Light, Black Shadow was determined to attain them all, and a savior must assist Falcon, even though he was the Wuji, neutral and vulnerable to both good and evil. Long before Rick was awakened, Falcon advised him and Jody to create the Dragon Bird with his schematics, and told them the legend. Stewart believed it, unlike Jody, and Clash created the Dragon Bird; however, they needed a skilled enough pilot, and Black Shadow awakened Zoda fearing the savior's coming. Stewart revived Rick, upon Jody's request, and he theorized he's the one who'll save the universe!
He then stated the lab must be destroyed with all the Blood Falcons, and Rick used the Death Anchor for its original purpose, as a missile created by the Federation. Stewart and the others escaped, while Rick and Falcon took on Deathborn! He accepted Rick with his mantle.
There were some rumors he has a love interest to Jody, and he even helped plan Rick to propose to Tinsel in Port Town!! He wished soon the day would come for the would-they couple. He even resuscitated Rick after he was severely electrocuted by Don's death trap, with Rodney, and provided him with rubber gloves and soles to absorb the misfiring. This later helped develop Rick's new electro-abilities. Soon, he analyzed a specimen of the dead earth from Stark Farm, and then chosen as the father of the bride to Tinsel! He, and his children, received word of her repressed memories and healed her thru therapy and treatment. It was an excruciating process, though she made it thru! Before the bachelor party in Port Town, he grew worried of his distant wife, Katherine Wilson, Luna's mom. She disappeared since Zoda was looking for her, and ever since she turned 21, they became lovers and wed; the red scarf he always wears was a symbol of their friendship. After hearing Tinsel's despair, he regretted on diving into relationships, and vowed to never do so again. He soon reunited with her outside the Roller Rocket Rink, and she assured that he'd done a great job raising their child, and that Jody'd be the perfect match for him. Stewart was soon chosen as her escort down the aisle, and he can't be more happier for her and Rick!
At one point, he analyzed Tinsel's weird activity, thinking she can be ready to bare a child, hence using her cells, and Rick's, in an experimental uteri replicator. Sadly, the cells didn't fuse, and the kid was lost.

- It was stated on Lap 28 in the anime that the anime counterpart of Dr. Stewart's birthday is the same as Valentine's Day, February 14.
- It was also mentioned that he was born in Mute City, and his blood type is AB.
- The main version of Dr. Stewart appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a spirit and his fight is represented by Dr. Mario. In the World of Light mode, Dr. Stewart runs a Dojo.
- Anthony Ropkin's machine in the modern day during Lap 14 is a red recolor of Dr. Stewart's Golden Fox.
- Dr. Stewart is also allegedly the designer of Blitz Wagner's machine, but this is only stated in a Nintendo Power article, and not found in any manual nor guidebook.
- When paired with Jody, Ikran always goes by the name, Stody. This was also shared with her friends Berrywatterson and Buttscotchpiie.
