The Dragon Team (ドラゴンチーム Doragon Chīmu), also known as the Dragon Ball Gang, is a group of Earth's mightiest warriors. Formed during Goku and Bulma's search for the Dragon Balls, they have since fought many battles in order to test their skills and reach other goals, and in turn have become the unofficial defenders of Earth.
The sub-team of fighters who are a part of the Dragon Team are referred to as the Z Fighters (Ｚ戦士 Zetto Senshi, lit. "Z Warriors"). Due to them just being a group of martial artists who group up from time to time, they have no official leader or particular positions. Members will act of their own accord at times, though most if not all have some sort of sense of justice (or eventually developed one) and will make drastic decisions to defend their home. Throughout the years, the group consistently bolstered its ranks through the addition of former enemies and new heroes; they've routinely overcame seemingly insurmountable opponents and always emerged victorious against progressively more powerful foes.
The Z Fighters have alternatively been referred to as the Super Warriors, Earth's Special Forces, Golden Fighters, TEAM "Z" or the GT Warriors (GT戦士 JīTī Senshi).
During the Tournament of Power, Team Universe 7 was primarily made up of Z Fighters - with the exception of two members: Android 17 (who later became one) and Frieza.
The Bouncer Tetralogy[]
The four sagas took place after the events of the Buu Saga and Goku's temporary recruitment of Uub. The Z-Fighters, as it was commonly called there, had a member who was close to retirement, Ayame, in which she was on her first mission hunting for a Dragon Ball, in this case in Dog Street.
It was mentioned in the prologue that two tween dragons, Spyro and Simone, were once close sidekicks to Ayane. They were...reluctant and indirect members of the Dragon Team, and they stuck by Ayame from the Saiyan invasion to the Cell Games. It's likely that before Majin Buu's awakening and Babidi's malicious plots, the two dragons already settled safely at Spyro's homeworld, Artisans.
Once again, they eventually needed to save the world from Dauragon and the Mikado Group after the Special Forces took Dominique and the Dragon Ball away and the advent of the solar power-generated satellite. Ayame, Goten and Trunks took on the task and succeeded as the Saiyan kids and the Bouncers defeated Dauragon and saved the two captives. Capsule Corp later assisted by reprogramming Dominique and restored Edge from recession.
Their second enemy was Sion's doppelganger in which he emitted known as Jet Black Sion, similar to how Kami and Majin Buu went thru diffusion. Gohan found Sion and he trained the fallen hero to use his ki and the Kamehameha Wave to override his double's dark ki. He assisted him to the executive floor where the enemy awaited and was then incinerated. Goten and Trunks kept an eye on Edge for any threats.
In the Yakuza Saga, the Z-Fighters dealt with the resurrected members of the Mikado Group after a saboteur united the Dragon Balls; turned out that Dauragon was cloned with a dark chimera as were some of the fallen by the stragglers of the Mikado Group. Gohan, Ayame, Goten, Trunks, 18, Krillin, and soon Majin Buu and Chiaotzu were on the case. The 3 Saiyans spied on Edge and noticed the Bouncers brainwashed, 18 and Krillin hid away Dominique and Wong to the Lookout where Mr. Popo, Dende and Korin assisted, while Ayame kept detecting the dark ki. It wasn't until Chiaotzu incapacitated the former Bouncers and removed the chips unleashing Dauragon's wrath! Majin Buu kept the Kamikaze at bay while the Saiyan trio used their combined might overriding the chimera's dark ki. The team regrouped at the Lookout and Sion, as his normal self, decided to become a new Z-Fighter while Ayame retired and became the bookkeeper of the Fate bar.
