Draq

Draq in anime

MightyTyphoon

Mighty Typhoon (CAD)

Draq is a long-time fan of the F-Zero races, where he competes as a pilot in the Mighty Typhoon. He makes his first appearance in F-Zero X.

Biography[]

A long-time fan of the F-Zero races, Bellonngian Draquillie works with Roger Buster in the shipping business. For years he had idolized such racers as Silver Neelson, and The Skull, despite himself being older than Neelson.

Roughly one year ago, Draq and Roger Buster came across two F-ZERO machines tagged with an unknown recipient and no return address. Draq quickly convinced Roger to let them enter the machines in the last Grand Prix, telling him that they would surely be recognized and the rightful owners would come forward to claim them. No one claimed the machines, however, and the two partners have decided to try again. Draq hopes to win a Grand Prix himself before the owners come to claim the machines, then he could use the prize money to buy a craft of his own. His full name is Bellonngian Draquillie. He practices his racing skill by playing the video game.

In his time as a pilot, he's tried to get to know the other pilots, including his long-time idols. After getting to know his fellow pilots, he plans to get Captain Falcon's autograph. Despite now being a racer, he's still a huge fan of F-Zero video games.

Anime[]

He made a cameo appearance with Roger in two Laps. The first was in Lap 9, The Promise, and Draq was under threat by Miss Killer; she demanded him to give Dark Million his profits and when the Fake Star Grand Prix started and Pico made his move by attaching speed-sensitive bombs onto the machines, Draq disregarded his own welfare as well as his fellow co-pilots by going over the orange zone. Roger and Rick Wheeler did the same, and the Dragon Bird won without incident as Captain Falcon disabled the blimp. Draq was soon forgiven by Roger, though, and Alias still got the mangos he wanted as he and the two deliverymen headed to his destination for his heart surgery.

In Lap 45, Zoda's Other Ambition, he was again taken hostage, with Roger, by Dark Million. Only this time, it was Zoda demanding what's in the cargo they shipped to Lightning. Draq blurted out he won't get away and they have friends in the Galaxy Platoon, making Zoda admire their catch. Through the records, they were shipping ingredients to make a biological weapon similar to the liquid Blood Falcon. The Galaxy Runner received the signal but was cut off, and Zoda demanded in order to rescue them, they must investigate the empty warehouse Dark Million's been using; the team suspected it can be a trap since a third party's used to keep their plans secret. They were thrown into a cell for a short while before a special spy saved their hides, so they participated in distracting Lightning's lethal defenses as the Task Force enter the base. During the scrimmage between Rick and Black Shadow, despite Roger being tossed around a few times, they finally made their getaway before the hideout exploded.

He did participate in the X and GX competitions, but always lost to Falcon, never having his dream on making a museum. He still remains as Roger's closest delivery partner, and hasn't found ownership of the Mighty machines. He made his first major appearance in the second lap of A Trilogy of Tension, when he made his interstellar delivery to the Falcon House consisting of Doreyan mangos for Alias. He was keeping an eye on his cargo, until he met up with Miss Killer, who ambushed him, and never fought back. She demanded him to give up all the cargo and give her the ransom of 10 million space credits by winning the Fake Star race. The Dragon Bird and Mighty Hurricane were clipping each other's wings, even being in harm's way thanks to Draq's meddling and the constant danger of going either above/below the Orange Zone. Roger was desperate to win, and by the last minute, when Falcon, Yami, Kuriboh, and Joey destroyed the blimp, Rick took in first! He then slapped Draq across the face for putting him and other pilots in danger, and he should focus more on their friendship than their business, otherwise it'd be strained. He was seen with Draq, Alias and his mom in a space carrier with the boy thanking Rick for his promise.

Roger was next seen with Draq as they entered the Falcon House with another delivery. Draq was often misjudged by his stature as he always tended to be a gentle giant rather than be intimidating. Just then, as Draq was socializing with Roger, Goroh and his family stole the 2 Mighty machines!! Draq became worried, and Roger demanded if they had ownership on those crafts to which they'd denied and stole! Roger was desperate to get them back, even if Clank should resort to his hacking abilities, to which the coordinates led to Red Canyon, much to their dismay! Tinsel and her allies went on the pursuit, and it was a hopeless cause, especially since he was familiar on the law on forfeiting their crafts for good. They got captured, until Falcon intervened and accepted the death race. He, Tinsel and Leon took Goroh, Lisa and Dai on, and won ownership! After all, the receipts the bandits presented were phonies; as he'd know from his skills in the Internova Police Force. Roger then offered Draq to be Tinsel's bodyguard as she looks for the Task Force, while he keeps a watch on the delivery business.

It was stated by Falcon to Tinsel that the actual owners of the Mighty Hurricane/Typhoon had vanished after the Horrific Accident; it was soon revealed to be Deathborn banishing the owners into space like hapless vagabonds!

He provided the reuniting team some support, and assisted in some races; even having a slippery outcome against the brainwashed Lucy, and even advancing, and losing, in the Death Wind semifinals. For the sake of his partner, Tinsel, and the galaxy, he boarded the Falcon Flyer and went into Dark Star.

Draq succumbed to the Skull's sleeping gas and had a nightmare. He was in a burning blimp with their cargo, and Roger was unconscious; he had to make a crucial decision, either his life or the cargo. He then decided saving Roger was the right thing to do! Since Deathborn's defeat, they became the official proud owners of the machines!

Trivia[]

  • Polish for pole, rod. Presumably a nickname for a tall, thin person. It's related to Old Norse draga, "to pull", and originally denoted a place where boats have pulled along a river or across an isthmus.
  • In Ikran's timeline, the VA for Draq was Michael Chiklis, the same guy who played Ben Grimm/The Thing in Fantastic 4 (2005).
