E-102 (Ｅ－１０２ Ī Ichi-Zero-Ni?), codenamed γ or Gamma (ガンマ Ganma?), is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He was a high-tech marksman assault machine and the second model in the E-100 Series of robots, created by Dr. Eggman during the Chaosincident to aid in the destruction of Station Square. Unlike the other models, however, Gamma's programming featured a critical flaw, which, unknown to Eggman, gave Gamma free will. As a result, after joining the Egg Carrier's elite crew and noticing the doctor's cruelty, Gamma went rogue and abandoned his creator. He then assumed his own mission to "free" his robot brethren from his creator, and succeeded, though at the cost of his own life.
