Grand Palace of Edenia
Edenia is one of the six main realms in the Mortal Kombat universe.
As its name suggests, the world of Edenia closely resembles the Garden of Eden. A very lush and fertile world with slowly aging inhabitants, Edenia is also a feudal monarchy ruled by Queen Sindel and her daughter Princess Kitana. They are defended by the Edenian Imperial Guard.
The earliest known ruler of Edenia was King Jerrod, the husband of Sindel and the father of Kitana, but was killed by Shao Kahn & D'Vorah. Edenia also has a military force called the "Edenian Resistance" also known as the Edenian Knights in which Jade is the general.
Edenia is known for its delicious Edenian Pie which is a dessert considered to be a rare delicacy, loved by many inhabitants, including those that are not native to Edenia, such as Shao Kahn's guards. Edenia is also the home of the large and long forgotten "Edenian Ruins" which is located in Edenia's old Southlands filled with forgotten craters, as well as home to the fabled Pyramid of Argus and its construction long ago.

Similarities to Earthrealm[]
Of all realms, Edenia appears closer to Earthrealm in terms of environment, appearance, and population. Like Earthrealm, rain falls regularly, has similar lifeforms such as grasses and trees, has abundant water, and the inhabitants, such as Kitana, often form relationships with Earthrealmers. Both realms are also interpreted to be a jewel of the cosmos and an important universal power node. As a result, much like Raiden is the protector of Earthrealm, Edenia is protected by the god Argus, said to be the most powerful of the Edenian deities, along with his wife Delia, a mortal Edenian sorceress with the ability to manipulate fire and predict the future. Edenia and Earthrealm differ in terms of Edenia's more intense preoccupation with magic, whereas Earthrealm is more affluent with technology. Many of Edenia's inhabitants are also civilized, peaceful people, and good artisans with artistic expression, and they also bake pie, a food found in Earthrealm.
War with Outworld[]
Many years ago, King Jerrod's best warriors lost ten Mortal Kombat tournaments in a row to the warriors of Outworld's ruler, Shao Kahn. By the rulings of the Elder Gods, this granted Kahn the power to invade Edenia.
Taven and his brother fought alongside their father and the dragons Orin and Caro, repelling an attempted invasion by Shao Kahn in the realm of Edenia.
With Shao Kahn's threat still looming, many years before Armageddon, Taven and his brother Daegon were put to sleep by their father, Argus, who intended to send his sons in a quest to save the realms from Armageddon. They were sent to Earthrealm, encased in stone to protect them from harm and assigned two guardians by the name of Orin and Caro. Shortly afterwards, Daegon was mistakenly awoken too early by Blaze and Shinnok took advantage of his jealousy towards his brother by making him kill his mother and father, Lady Delia and Argus, with the god-slaying weapons that were meant for his and his brother's quest. With Protector God Argus dead and Taven and the dragons in Earthrealm, Shao Kahn's armies invaded Edenia and could not be stopped. Outworld won the subsequent war and Edenia was annexed. To legitimize himself, Kahn forced queen Sindel into a marriage and adopted her daughter Kitana, among other members of the royal household while personally slaying Jerrod. In the wake of Shao Kahn's defeat at the hands of Liu Kang 10,000 years later, Edenia would be freed from its merger with Outworld by Kitana. With brief intermezzos of war and abduction by evil forces, Sindel has been Edenia's queen ever since. Despite the many thousands of years, it was merged with Outworld after being defeated in Mortal Kombat, Edenia has become an independent realm again.
Native Species[]
The only known species inhabiting Edenia are known as Edenians, a species very similar to Earthrealm humans. However, unlike Earthrealmers, Edenians are direct descendants of the gods, and, therefore, possess much greater affinities with magic, have a much longer life expectancy, and have a much slower aging process. The youngest of inhabitants, for example, Princess Kitana, is 10,000 years old, but only appears to be in her late teens to early twenties. Edenians are also known for their outstanding beauty. The skin tones of Edenians vary from light to dark. Many inhabitants appear to be peaceful, much like most humans from the realm of Earth, but would no doubt show pride in fighting for the fate of their realm when the time arises.
Notable residents[]
- Argus was the god and guardian of Edenia, and father of Taven, Daegon, and Rain.
- Blaze, the creator (Taven and Daegon's mother Delia) had foreseen an event when the fighters' power would become a threat to all of existence itself.
- Daegon, the brother of Taven. Like Taven, he was hidden on Earth; however, he was awakened prematurely. He is the founder of the Red Dragon clan, led by Mavado, who is merely a figurehead subordinate to Daegon.
- Delia, an Edenian sorceress, and wife of Argus. She is the mother of Taven and Daegon.
- Jade, Kitana's bodyguard and childhood friend. Though originally loyal to Shao Kahn, Jade has proven her loyalty to the royal family time and again.
- Jerrod, the former King of Edenia and husband of Sindel, was killed by Shao Kahn. His soul was later found and discovered by Sindel and Kitana to be inside the telekinetic ninja known as Ermac.
- Kitana, Princess and heir apparent of Edenia. She is the leader of the realm's armed forces and is known for her maverick points of view regarding Edenia's safety. Like her mother, she is currently unmarried.
- Maya is a royal servant to Princess Kitana alongside her mistress Qali and is about 10,000 years old.
- Qali had been best friends with Princess Kitana for many years. According to Shao Kahn, Qali and Kitana had trained together as fighters.
- Rain was orphaned by Shao Kahn as a child. Trained by the Edenian Resistance. Later, he betrayed them by resurfacing as one of Shao Kahn's soldiers.
- Sindel, Queen of Edenia. At various times in Edenia's short history after its freedom from Outworld, her rule has been interrupted by usurpers such as Shinnok and Onaga.
- Tanya, who comes from a family of diplomats and ambassadors and used her persuasive powers more than once to betray Edenia to the forces of darkness. She is highly intelligent and skilled in black magic.
- Taven, the son of Argus, the Protector God of Edenia, who was hidden on Earth as part of a prophecy to prevent Armageddon.
- Asgaarth, only mentioned in Defenders of the Realm during the finale as one of Jerrod's surviving, and most esteemed, knight.

After he was hastily pulled thru the Hourglass set by Kitana wearing Kronika's Krown, he began to bond with the royals and the denizens vowing to protect them from the impending threat of Shao Kahn. He, with Kitana from the future, stayed and defended the majestic kingdom, and were even wed before they left to the dawn of time in which they spent some relaxation before he fast-forwarded and trained the Great Kung Lao.
- Cheung Kang (Ikran's timeline): Born in the Edenian Palace. He'd visit there briefly even the former ruins to meet Taven and Orin.

- Living Forest (Ikran's Khronology)
- Prison (Ikran's Khronlogy - mistaken for location in the Netherrealm)
- The Tomb
- Unnamed Swamp (MK4/GOLD)
- Edenian Ruins
- Jade's Desert
- Pyramid of Argus
Relationships with other realms[]
There is no doubt since Earthrealm helped free Edenia from Kahn's grasp that the people of Edenia see Earthrealm as an ally. There is some question about Seido; though Edenians seem to consider them an ally. However, they are fully aware of how repressive the Realm of Order can be at times. Because of Outworld's conquest of Edenia, the two are definite foes so long as Kahn remains ruler. The only real attempt seen to make peace between them occurred during the beginning of MK4, when Kitana was in the process of trying to organize peace in the realm. Kung Lao's ending in MK: Gold shows the only sign that Kitana's attempts at peace were successful. During Mileena's masquerade as Kitana, she leads an invasion upon Outworld, eventually conquering the realm and creating an alliance between Edenia and Outworld. She ruled both realms as her sister until the return of her stepfather, Shao Kahn, upon which she immediately surrendered the throne of Outworld back to him in return for sparing her own life. Around the same time, Kitana was freed of her mind-control and returned to the Edenian throne alongside her mother.
Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Part II[]
It hasn't really been shown but mentioned at times that Edenia was once a peaceful, and sometimes ethereal, realm. It had traits related to the religious Garden of Eden, and it was taken over by Kahn's Conquest. At the same time, Jerrod was killed, Sindel was forced to marry Kahn, and she eventually committed suicide. Edenia was completely in ruins since the override, until Liu Kang was successful on destroying the Emperor for good. At times, he'd visit the decimated kingdom under construction, and he'd assist as being a bodyguard or doing some odd jobs. The process of restoration was slow but very successful. Currently, Queen Sindel restored her throne and benevolent rule with Kitana, Asgaarth and Sheeva as her advisors.
Mortal Kombat: Shinnok's Uprising[]
In the restoring, peaceful kingdom of Edenia, Queen Sindel was on her throne as her protector, Sheeva, alerted her of a group of refugees from a different realm. Sindel accepted and the ambassador and her daughter, Tanya, presented her with an astonishing opal as an offering of peace and sanctuary. Sindel and Asgaarth were infatuated by it, while Sheeva was more skeptical.
500 miles south, Kitana was in the Shokan city, Kuatan, negotiating between the feuding Shokan and Centaurs. One of the beasts was about to lunge at her until Goro showed up out of nowhere!! He confessed he was in hiding ever since he suffered from the defeats of Johnny Cage and the Shaolin Monks over the past couple years, and he never wanted to serve Shao Kahn due to his tendency on banishing those that failed him. Goro made a handshake with one of the Centaurs to make the peace treaty official.
The city was under a sudden attack as Goro covered Kitana, before she returned to the palace. Meanwhile, the portal burst open from the enchanted gem, and the Army of Darkness began to ransack the place!! Everyone was at Shinnok's and Quan Chi's mercy!
Minutes later another portal was formed only this time by Sonya's contraption powered by Nightwolf's soul-encased tomahawk! Liu Kang, Nigtwolf, Sonya, Johnny Cage (who was resurrected by Raiden), Kung Lao, Kai, Aiko and Sub-Zero accepted the demon sorcerer's new challenge!
At the west there was the Living Forest which dwindled in ferocity since the Edenians were busy restoring it from Kahn and Shang's corruption. Ahead of the bog, the arena from MK4/GOLD, Kitana mentioned to Kung Lao and Aiko that the straightaway thru the monstrous trees leads to the Ruins of Zaterra! Zaterra'd be the neighboring realm of Edenia!
At the east were the Cobalt Mines of Shokan in which Sonya and Johnny wound up. The Shokan were busy crafting weapons and equipment utilizing the mineral which legend said it cancels out Quan Chi's magic. The Centaurs reluctantly teamed up with their bitter rivals as they guarded the Mines. The Shokan general stated that the Dragonians escaped into the Mines while the Tygrans fled into the shadows of Outworld. They needed to hurry thru Jade's Desert to the south before the sun should rise and scorch the wastes. Sonya noticed Cyrax who was inactive and poking out from the dunes. They soon arrived in the cool swamps and Sonya spotted Jarek! He cornered her and pulled her off the precipice to her death, until Kung Lao managed to save her! Jax finished the job and Sonya offered to take Cyrax to Earthrealm as he wouldn't survive here. She and Johnny were impressed the others recruited the Zaterrans and found Kitana.
Liu Kang and Kai were overwhelmed by the Army of Darkness, until the former's Animality cleared the way. They headed to the Tomb in hopes on finding the prisoners, but no luck excepting an ambush and fighting Reiko. Liu defeated the general, but Kai was captured! Tanya offered to help Liu find Kitana and the other prisoners, but she failed when she lured him to a trap. Jade slaughtered her and offered her assistance!
The Tarkatans were as reckless as ever storming to the Palace, even without a proper strategy nor wearing Cobalt armor. Luckily the united heroes found a secret entrance to the prisons, even though it's possible they're rigged. Kung Lao and Aiko escorted the refugees and asked Sonya to generate a portal to Earthrealm, specifically the Wu Shi Academy. Baraka approached Quan Chi at the throne room, only to be at his mercy, till Scorpion decapitated the sorcerer and attained the Amulet. Hanzo and Kuai went to the Temple of Elements, while Lao and Aiko rescued Kai and defeated Reiko! Unfortunately, it was Shinnok's ploy to lure the Champion to the Netherrealm! Kung Lao and Aiko were captured, and Liu, Raiden and Fujin went after them.
Kitana and Jade were helpless, but thanks to Nightwolf's metaphysics, the warriors were able to lend their strength to Liu, and Shinnok's powers were disabled since Kuai and Hanzo were successful restoring the REAL Amulet! The heroes returned victoriously and the Edenians soon returned home!
The monarchs restored their positions, Mileena's insurrection failed, Baraka and the Tarkatans were exiled due to their bloodthirsty ruthlessness, and Jade volunteered to keep an eye on things if Kitana wants to spare time with Liu. She, Kitana, Sheeva, Asgaarth and Sindel will be more aware of refugees as it was informed by Raiden there can only be six Realms. In the end, the royals wished the Thunder God luck as he left Earth under Fujin's guardianship. Sindel wished him Godspeed.
Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]
The Kombatants arrived near the Palace gates and Asgaarth alerted the Edenians and Sheeva of their visitation. The Shokan had a feeling something was amiss in their homeworld, and Aiko and Kung Lao decided to address Sindel of Liu's fate and the involvement of the Deadly Alliance. By the time he mentioned Onaga, Sindel was shocked and recapped the ancient insurrection as Kahn overthrown the dragon and decimated his undead army. Since then, Kahn began his konquest of other realms including Edenia. Sindel enlisted Kitana and Jade to help out, while she, Sheeva and Asgaarth remained at the palace and rallied anyone willing to fight back the Alliance's troops.
Goro eventually entered the Palace from Kuatan as he became unsettled with the upcoming battle, and whether or not he'd be forced to work with Shang. Sheeva tried to tend for him, until Asgaarth announced the Kombatants engaged the enemy! They also witnessed the Soulnado several miles away, even its decimation. The monarchs and guards were awestruck as Kitana and Jade were willingly escorting a time displaced Baraka and he proved on being an essential antihero turning against his own clan! Sindel decreed for him to relocate closer to the border organizing his own Kamp, although the Shokan and Centaurs shall keep an eye on him and his sparce clan. The denizens also wondered what would become of Onaga...
Return of the Dragon King[]
Rumors exploded throughout the province after an explosion in Outworld. Kung Lao and Hanzo then arrived outside the Palace as two anxious guardsmen blocked the entrance. Luckily, Goro was able to konvince them they weren't influenced by the Dragon King. Sheeva escorted them to the throne room where Sindel, Jade and Asgaarth were preoccupied with Kitana's fate. The murmurs rang true since Onaga was resurrected. Then Sindel highlighted Kahn's imperial rule over him by poisoning him and besting the unstoppable undead army. She also remembered meeting Shujinko, then she decided to look for some clues in the Lost Tomb with Jade and Liu's spirit who decided to leave Kung Lao while the former monk gathered Champions.
Edenia was still under peril as Onaga, and his army were marching toward the kingdom after decimating the Sun Do village and murdering its people. The royal guard was on high alert, until they received word from the other half that Ermac was one of the Champions that helped them won! The Kamidogu was absorbed by both Onaga and Ermac, until it was destroyed on Liu Kang's suggestion to weaken the dragon!
Final Kombat[]
During the prologue, around 8450 BC, Delia had been receiving disturbances of Kahn invading Edenia and soon Earthrealm. She wondered if her and Argus' sons were put into a sleep state to prepare for a quest. The former protector God assured everything's prepared as the guardian dragons shall watch over them until their time for awakening. His pyramid had also been erected soon after he and Delia created the fire spawn, Blaze.
Raiden in the current time, April 1996, also received visions via his new amulet he earned as an Elder God; he watched the battle of Armageddon unfold as every one of his fellow warriors were caught in the fatal crossfire with their enemies. They soon grew curious as a nearby pyramid rose and the mysterious flaming light caught their attention! Everyone was having a fight to the death to deal with Blaze, as if his flames were a forbidden prize... Eventually, Liu received the same terrors too...
After the deadly fight against Onaga, and having Liu Kang become anew again, the Edenians admired Kitana showing Liu Kang around, even having some quality time together. She eventually led him to her private quarters and told him how much she appreciated Liu's heroism and his care towards her and her people. She even gifted him a rare opal to him as a token of her appreciation, possibly an engagement. The locals and Liu didn't notice Kitana soon becoming upset and dreading for another gruesome battle while regretting as one of Onaga's generals and dealing with another overlord. Blaze soon came to her vulnerability and assured she must gather her allies for the battle of Armageddon, and if things go as planned, her enemies will be vanquished for good.
She soon spotted the monarchs involved in a heated discussion with Goro and Sheeva on relocating the Shokan to Australia. The company was indeed flabbergasted on their sudden choice, and wondered if that's what they'd want since they'd be without their promising bodyguards, especially Sheeva to Sindel... Until Kintaro invaded the throne room, and the Champion defeated him easily, but never killed him. They actually offered him the chance to take over their ranks if they plan to eliminate Kano and his thugs before heading to the land down under.
What the denizens didn't know was Kitana's discreet departure as she was looking for her distant kohorts.
Kitana eventually had a change of heart as she returned home with Liu Kang for comfort. She never wanted to alarm the denizens of Armageddon nor her encounter with Blaze, although they knew it'd happen sooner or later. They heard of the ancient legends involving their protector god, Argus, and Delia, by erecting the Pyramid as the ultimate battleground and Blaze as her most lethal creation, before they put their sons to sleep for millennia. Knowing their enemies'd return for the melee, they took the advice on being tactful and focus on one enemy by one before reaching Blaze or even pit them against each other as the Deadly Alliance or Kahn and Onaga would destroy themselves. While a single mortal may not best Blaze in kombat, they needed to make do.
Soon after, Liu returned to Earthrealm in time for the tests, while the Edenian soiree was set up on the night before Armageddon; Baraka hosted most of the food there, including his exotic meat dishes and their signatures including their famous pie. Taven and Hanzo were on their way to the palace, and the latter was desperately finding a portal to Earthrealm. Jerrod offered it, specifically to the Shirai Ryu base. While Taven met up with Li Mei, Chameleon and Bo' Rai Cho. The lard was surprised Taven never met his half-brother, Rain, the same assailant and claimed prince back in Arctika. Bo' stated that he was a bastard to Argus and had an affair with Amara before being abandoned, thus his rough upbringing and letting the title get to his head. Taven grew irritable that everyone excepting Orin and Delia were still innocent and Rain grew up as rogue as Daegon. They assured if he's successful, Delia'd be proud if he should be Edenia's new protector god.
The Forces of Light gathered at the Palace throne room, minus Liu, Raiden and Kitana. They soon boarded the new Netherwing which then flew en route to the southern crater. Although Taven suddenly vanished off deck and wound up at the Edenian Ruins by Blaze. He confirmed to him and Daegon the quest was corrupt, and it never went as planned. Nevertheless, the fate of the realms would be decided today, and the bros are bound to the quest. Taven wanted nothing to do with it, his business was with Daegon! At first, he fell against Daegon's twin Drakesword, but thanks to Aiko's heart, Taven won! Blaze then stated that there was a feud between his parents; Argus wanted to destroy all warriors involved, while Delia created Blaze in hopes to only strip them of their powers. Blaze added only the victor shall decide their fate via coin toss; Taven wondered which side is he, in which the bringer said it was irrelevant, and he mustn't let anyone else face him. He then urged Taven to take up his sword and meet Blaze once the Pyramid rises.
The Forces of Light descended although their dread was turned to amazement as Fire God Liu Kang descended and blasted the opposing faction! Liu cleared some of the way, until the warriors were met with hand-to-hand kombat! Liu, Lao, Taven and Fujin were the only fighters that traversed to the Pyramid despite the melee and knew it was suicidal! Liu wanted his allies to stand down and while Kenshi was unsuccessful, Nightwolf magnified the message. The enemies thinned and Liu bested the overlords before he recovered to face off Blaze. Remembering Orin's advice, Taven threw up his Drakesword and soon Blaze was defeated! However...it had a nasty surprise as he attempted to destroy everyone! Liu conjured a fire cocoon onto his allies while changing Blaze's trajectory aloft! His essence was encased amongst the firestorm resulting the warriors to render unconsciousness...
Minutes later, a rainstorm transpired, only it was Cetrion as Shinnok's Amulet, and the dark heart gem revived her essence and memories! Her regret was able to revitalize the heroes! Only...Kung Lao noticed that Liu was gone and left his headband behind atop the Pyramid rubble... Everyone felt saddened by the tragic loss. And even Taven felt remorse as he reflected on the corrupted quest... None of the monarchs blamed him, only instead he was gifted as Argus' successor as Protector God, with Orin as his guardian and the Ruins as their home!
At the throne room, the Shokan left for Australia while some managed to stay with Kintaro as the new bodyguard! Edenia still looked bright for the future, even if the elder Kitana should ever want to revisit, same with Mileena and Baraka despite her illness.
Several years later, the Edenians were willing to fight back Kotal and his new legion!
Kontentment[]
In Edenia, Kitana became ill, and Liu hastily took her to the Palace via Caro's red portal. The denizens came to the conclusion she was actually pregnant! Throughout the trimester, Liu had trained Caro as the new guardian of the Hourglass, before Kitana became incapacitated by her sickness.
Since then, Caro invited Aiko to Yin Yang Island, and he highlighted all of the couple's misadventures. Even when Kitana expedited the Hourglass from the dawn of time after Liu became weakened while retrieving the Krown. He came to and he became attached to the kingdom and its denizens, as a peaceful, regal realm, even before Kitana and Mileena's births. It was to the point that he defended Edenia and drove off Kahn's forces assisting Taven, Daegon, the guardian dragons, Argus and Delia. Thru his intense martial arts and astounding devotion, Argus escorted Liu to the chamber to meet the Elder Gods and bestowed him as a part of the pantheon. They even offered his request to bestow Kitana as a goddess without death! They even tied the knot soon after and then settled down at the meteorite they started from...
However, after finding the Great Kung Lao and baring his death, Liu erased all history... He and Kitana settled in Yin Yang Island, and never visited Edenia again till after Armageddon. Everyone was thrilled of the birth of their demigod, Cheung Kang!
Koherence[]
The Edenian Palace was visited briefly by Kenshi and Aiko as they wondered if there were any talented musicians for their recruitment before playing over the upcoming Matokan hot dance so the Shaolin and Aiko'd receive positivity from her heart gems. Jerrod was proud to show off using a soul of a great keytar player while Goro volunteered to be the percussionist as he hadn't played in eons.
