Edenians are a humanoid species that originate from their homeworld of Edenia.
According to Rain's biography in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, the Edenian race were descended from the gods themselves which was the reason for their longevity, nobility and strength. Among their deities was Argus and his wife, the sorceress known as Delia. Mortal Kombat 3 reveals that long ago, the kingdom of Edenia was ruled by King Jerrod alongside his wife, Queen Sindel with the royal family having a child by the name of Kitana around 10,000 years ago. During this time, the realm came under siege from the Outworld Emperor known as Shao Kahn who successfully merged with it after winning the Mortal Kombat tournament. In the wake of the invasion, Rain's father smuggled his son to safety whilst he continued his duty as a general in the Edenian army. This saw Rain's father being killed in the resultant struggle. Shao Kahn was responsible for killing King Jerrod whereupon he took Queen Sindel as his wife and Princess Kitana as his own daughter. According to Mortal Kombat (2011), the souls of the defeated Edenians and that of King Jerrod were forcibly taken from their bodies and used to create the powerful warrior known as Ermac.
Following the defeat of Shao Kahn during the attempted invasion of Earthrealm, Queen Sindel resumed the mantle of leadership of the Edenian people. Kahn's defeat also separated the realm of Edenia from Outworld where Sindel not only attempted to rebuild her home but also bring Shao Kahn to justice. However, Tanya, the daughter of the Edenian ambassador to other realms betrayed her people by allying with the fallen Elder God Shinnok and allowing his armies of the Netherrealm to invade her homeland. After Shinnok's defeat, Kitana was sent to form an alliance between the Edenians and the Shokan in order to defeat Shao Kahn once and for all. This goal would also fail due to the machinations of the Deadly Alliance formed between Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. But an even greater evil emerged in the form of the newly resurrected Onaga who resumed his title as The Emperor of Outworld. Traveling into Edenia, he captured Queen Sindel with the aid of the traitor Edenian Tanya. In this time, Princess Kitana fell under the control of Onaga and served him loyally which forced Jade to fight her friend whilst escaping with Queen Sindel.
Overview[]
Edenians have very long lives, as Kitana is 10,000 years old and still considered young. Edenians also possess special magical skills for example, Jade can do various wind tricks, Sindel can levitate and manipulate sonic waves. It is said an Edenian's long life span, strength, and nobility are due to their being descendants of the gods of their realm. Notable Edenians are Sindel, the Queen of Edenia; Kitana, Sindel's daughter and Princess of Edenia; Jade, who is Kitana's best friend as well as the leader of both the Edenian army and the Edenian Freedom Fighters; Taven and Daegon, sons of the Edenian protector god Argus and his sorceress wife Delia; and even the Edenian traitors Rain and Tanya.
According to Sindel's ending in Mortal Kombat: Deception, hieroglyphics on the tomb of Onaga's original body were similar to the Edenian language. These writings were magical incantations created by the Dragon King's holy men after his death and inscribed on his sarcophagus and on the walls of the Lost Tomb. Their intention for that was to perform a spell that will return Onaga's spirit to his original body, thus bringing back their master and true Emperor of Outworld from beyond the grave. In Deception, during Onaga's immediate invasion of Edenia, Queen Sindel and her loyal Edenian Knight Jade escaped his clutches and track down his tomb in Outworld. When they arrived, Sindel began translating that same spell to undo the Dragon King's rebirth. But when Onaga arrived, he sent one of his mindless bodyguards, Kitana, to stop the two interlopers but Jade fought off her brainwashed best friend in order buy her queen more time. Sindel completed in chanting the spell loudly and Onaga's soul quickly leaves the Saurian warrior Reptile's body and returns to his own body. Sindel then thrusts her Kwan Duo into the heart of the cadaver and screamed the incantation. The corpse came to life and cried in agony as the Dragon King was returned to the cold sleep of death. Kitana herself was then forever broken away from his control and finally reunited with her mother. Peace and freedom were restored to Edenia and its people, once more.
All Edenian men and women still hold on to the words of truth about the civility and beauty of their homeworld while fighting for their lives and freedom against all there is evil, "Edenia is an idyllic paradise -- where we are free from tyranny".

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Part II[]
The Edenians weren't necessarily seen before and during the merger of Earthrealm and Outworld. However, Kitana, Mileena, Asgaarth and Sindel were present. Kitana vowed to put an end to Kahn after scouting Kahn's former Keep with Liu, before the two realms were in peril. Mileena served Kahn with Baraka to put an end to her sister, and Sindel was resurrected in Egypt by the Shadow Priests, Shang, and Quan Chi enabling Kahn to merge both realms! Kitana was held captive by Rain at the Bell Tower as she and Liu lost consciousness as they'd been paralyzed during the merger, but the heroic monk decimated the hydromancer and saved Kitana, then Asgaarth came to their aid while the Tower collapsed!
Kitana led him, Jax and Sonya across the Chicago Bridge where Kahn's Fortress overlooked on the other side. The two Tarkans ambushed the group, though Mileena was slain by Kitana after the fact their mom's alive. Kitana then met up with the gathering team before they infiltrated the Fortress, even in her Rabbit Animality. Sindel absorbed some of the weakened Shang's essence to empower her screams, till she was muffled by Aiko's cardiokinesis! Kitana and Liu chased after her and fought Sindel in the Temple. Thanks to his pyrokinesis, Liu broke off Sindel's stranglehold and revived Kitana! Liu decided to spare the queen and stay with the women.
They caught up with Sheeva and convinced her to work for Sindel but without Kahn's savage rule when the war's over. They soon reached the Balcony and mourned for Lao's sacrifice. They prayed for the Champion's victory and escape, in which Edenia was spared. Kitana and Sindel enlisted Asgaarth and Sheeva as their bodyguards, while Sindel restored her place as ruler and Edenia made a slow though successful recovery.
Shinnok's Uprising[]
The Edenians either came out of hiding or survived Kahn's totalitarian regime. Edenian Pie was offered to the monks in Earthrealm as thanks for their assistance, even the Champion who offered to stay at times as being a bodyguard, helping on restoring the kingdom, or hang out with Kitana during downtime. Everything began to prosper, but a few issues intervened their restoration.
Queen Sindel, Asgaarth and others were attacked by Shinnok, Quan Chi, the Army of Darkness and Tanya as she betrayed the benevolent ruler by offering an opal from Triche which burst into a portal! The Palace was ransacked, even after Kitana made peace between the Shokan and Centaurs, courtesy of Goro.
The Edenian War was declared as Quan Chi welcomed the humans to his new Mortal Kombat. He stayed at Edenia while Shinnok waged war in the heavens. Races had been recruited for the threat including Kitana, Aiko and Lao rallying the Saurians, and Sonya and Johnny sticking with the warring Shokan and Centaurs. Tanya found Liu Kang inside the Tomb soon after Kai was captured by Reiko. She offered to help him find Kitana and the prisoners by going thru the subterranean tunnels she used to help refugees. She led Liu to one of them, but another Edenian stopped him! She challenged Tanya, labeling her as a traitor and rectifying on her mistake letting her escape the Netherrealm. She turned out to be Jade and explained of her resurrection by Raiden and being sent to Edenia. She confessed that she was possibly brainwashed by Kahn along with Kitana a couple years ago, thus her murder by Liu and Lao. She grew just as anxious as Liu to rescue Kitana and she became an unlikely ally!
Jade and Liu wound up in another ambush till the Saurians and their friends assisted! Kitana and Jade finally reunited and were able to find a hidden slab leading to the prisons while the Tarkatans broke the cavalry's cover. Kung Lao and Aiko managed to rescue the prisoners to Earthrealm, courtesy of his Teleportation and Sonya's generator; he led them to the Wu Shi Academy from the last pinpoint. They remained there till the war was won and decided to stay for a little more R&R. They soon returned thru the massive portal, with Lao as a stowaway. Kitana and two other Edenians made the peace treaty with Goro, till Lao made a ceremonial strike for his ancestor. He was willing to make peace with Goro and he admired his nobility reminding him of his ancestor's heroism. They soon returned to their positions, only to be more wiser that only six realms exist, never to be taken off guard again. Jade was enlisted as a monarch while also gifting Kitana chances to settle with Liu in her downtime.
Edenia has been united with all clans, excepting the Tarkatans who're exiled to Outworld.
Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]
The Edenian royal guard was on high alert as the Earthrealmers approached the kingdom; however, since they were the heroes who thwarted Quan Chi and Shinnok, they allowed them to address before Queen Sindel. Lao and Aiko were the ones who broke the tragic news of Liu Kang's death even though his soul was spared; Kitana was the most relieved as she noticed him inside the dragon amulet. Sindel then enlisted her and Jade to assist the heroes against the Deadly Alliance, even chanting their motto, "Edenia is an idyllic paradise, where we are free from tyranny,"
The guards wished them luck on a successful mission, although...things weren't entirely in their favor.
Surprisingly, since the time-displaced Baraka was willing to break honor over his race, he was promoted to move his Tarkatan Kamp close to the Edenian border. Although, joy was short-lived as they received murmurs that the dreaded Dragon King, Onaga, had been awakened.
Return of the Dragon King[]
The Edenians were frantic, even preventing access from Kung Lao and Hanzo addressing the manner. It was thanks to Goro, one of their protectors that assured them entry. Lao and Hanzo received wisdom from Queen Sindel, even the other Edenians, as she recapped history involving Onaga as well as Kahn overthrowing him and his undead army. Kitana was still MIA, and so Sindel enlisted half of the resistance, and Jade, to investigate the Lost Tomb at daybreak; to rid of Onaga's remains as worshipped by his zealous followers.
They were trapped in a scrimmage led by the revenant Kitana and aided by Tanya! Jade took into arms immediately mopping the floor with the traitor easily, however, the undead princess was a greater threat even when Sindel refused to fight her...
Ermac led Aiko and Kenshi to the Palace Gates, and the guardsmen weren't thrilled since their promising monarchs were away... They only recognized him as the collection of souls conjured by Kahn, until Kenshi and Aiko proved his innocence by residing Kitana's lullaby... That convinced the patrolmen, even gifting the lost ruler, Jerrod, the yaz symbol stitched to his back representing him as a free man from the Emperor's thrall!
He then took the duo to the outskirts of the Lost Tomb where they picked up the lethal quarrel! Ermac used his soulkinesis and tossed his daughter asunder! With her comatose, Aiko whistled the melody as Kenshi magnified it, restoring Kitana to her docile self as she reunited with her father! Sindel, Jade and the Knights did the same! Until Kenshi interrupted them they'd some business affairs. With Liu's soul incinerating the remains, they headed to Earthrealm near the Champion's Tomb.
Liu suggested to protect Shinnok's Amulet from Onaga and his army, although they were clueless where it was... Somewhere north, although Fujin escorted them there via portal. They arrived, even with an injured revenant Cage and the Sun Do refugee Li Mei in tow. The Knights imprisoned the traitor at the steep prison cell. Hours later, they stayed while Kenshi and Aiko chased after the distress near the Temple of Light. Soon after, Cage was reanimated and ravagely climbed out of the ditch attacking the Edenians! They were in despair as he noticed the Amulet, until Ashrah made an unexpected ambush onto him! Relieved, she offered to get involved in the Outworld melee and restore the remaining undead forces, Sonya and Jax. Although the Edenians themselves didn't fight off Onaga and his followers at the Living Forest nor the barren plains, their reinforcements did consist of the Saurians led by Chameleon and Khameleon, the time-displaced Baraka, the Shokan and the Centaurs.
They, along with Aiko, watched the fierce battle as their king and the realms' Champions warred against Onaga in the Nexus! They cheered for their victory, while some returned home and others offered to watch Lao and Liu's spiritual transition and cleansing at Raiden's Sky Temple. They, especially Sindel, Jerrod and Kitana, were overjoyed when the sacred, risky procedure was successful as Liu and Lao were declared as the worlds' Champions with Jerrod!
Some Edenians were still restless, especially Kitana who grew weary of the many wars, even dreading on dealing with a more powerful enemy than the last threat. Soon, she encountered Blaze who alerted her to prepare for Armageddon and the final kombat...
It's also likely Li Mei had joined their ranks since most of her people and the village had been decimated.
Final Kombat[]
The Edenians were on high alert after Kitana broke the news as she apologized for her desertion; that she received a sudden message from Blaze that she must prepare and gather her allies once more for Armageddon, during her distress over the constant kombats. Sindel and Jerrod were aware of the fiery creation as well as the disappearance of Argus, Delia, Taven, Daegon and their dragons, until Liu intervened with her that they should take out their enemies in a tactful way instead of fighting recklessly. The denizens were confident in the Champion as he'd overthrown overlords in the past, and soon they were joined by the time-displaced Baraka and the Chameleons! They actually planned a soiree with their signature Pies and Baraka's hunts before the Battle. They were even surprised that Bo', Li Mei, and even Taven joined the cause, even Mileena whom the female Saurian found in Kahn's Tower!
During the soiree, Bo explained to Taven that he and the guardian dragons are the only faithful carriers of his parents' legacy; that Rain, Daegon and even Argus were infidels, as he cheated for a mortal over Delia, Rain was a bastard, and he and Daegon's obsessions of their destinies.
Meanwhile, there was an elder Edenian watching thru the mystic portal at Yin Yang Island with an Oriental as they surveyed over Taven's quest and other allies. The pair soon took in the wounded dragons, Caro and then Orin, and having them reunite. She also discovered that Blaze was held captive by Onaga's zealots, thus Caro's mistake on awakening Daegon prematurely, courtesy of the Oriental speeding thru time before meeting up with Kitana. They continued to watch over Taven, even assist him indirectly at times, even relieved as he finally vanquished his greedy brother.
Later on, most of the denizens stood guard at the Palace, while those who were willing took their new vessel, the Netherwing, to the southern crater where the Pyramid of Argus shall emerge. Sindel, Jerrod (equipped as Ermac), Jade, Mileena, and their allies headed en route, while Kitana and Liu were spending their last minutes in the Dragon Grotto. Until Raiden shocked the princess; the current actually affected the elder Edenian as well! The Kombatants were severely wounded; however, only Taven was able to make it up the Pyramid with Kung Lao, Fujin, and Fire God Liu Kang! He confronted Blaze and the elemental soon destroyed the structure! Tanya and Rain were a couple of the enemies killed. The heroes, though, were protected by Liu's fire cocoon, protecting them from Blaze's rage, and soon Cetrion's healing tears after she was rematerialized! The ancient Edenian came to, and she was revived via Aiko's heart gem as given by Caro, which in turn restored her memories and vitality!

Taven x Jade
Little did everyone knew was that the Oriental and Edenian were Liu Kang and Kitana from a different time!! The Edenians mourned for Liu's and Raiden's sacrifice, although they soon noticed Kitana, from another era, was still alive! Taven was given godhood as the successor to Argus and Jade and Orin remained as his guides, as Sindel, Jerrod and Asgaarth congratulated him!
Kontentment[]
During Caro's flashbacks to Aiko, the elder Kitana was time-displaced after she became Kahn succeeding Kotal! However, she was greeted by Liu Kang who recently defeated Kronika and attained godly status! He used the Hourglass to come to her from the Prehistoric Era and requested her to come along as they'd start a New Era. She was reluctant, but being she never belonged in either realm, she soon relieved her duties to Jade and Kotal. She eventually found Liu on the meteorite and was willing to join him, warning him how they'd sculpt the sands, they can't plan for every possibility; whatever happens, they'd face the occurrences together. That was until Shang intervened and coaxed Liu to attain the Krown.
Kitana was the only Edenian in existence and close to the Hourglass, thus not being affected by the temporal ripples of her younger self. She then dragged a comatose Liu after she hastily sped up time till Edenia was developed, only the past Kitana wasn't born yet. Little by little, she and Liu took in the denizens' hospitality and defended it from Kahn's upcoming tournament! Kitana was promoted to goddess by the Elder Gods as requested by the Fire God, and they soon mingled as they tied the knot! Kitana was still the only one time-hopping, even when Liu restarted time after Lao's death over Goro despite winning over him... They remained at Yin Yang Island ever since, even when Edenia was in constant peril till the other events unfolded.
Weeks after Armageddon, Kitana experienced sickness and the denizens discovered she was pregnant! She soon gave birth to a boy, whom Liu named as Cheung Kang! They stayed for several hours before they settled down at the isle. Liu declared he shall live on as the next Chosen One carrying on both legacies!
