The Edenian Resistance, (also known as the Edenian Resistance Movement, Edenian Freedom Fighters, but originally known as the Edenian Knights) is an ancient and current military government within the majestic realm of Edenia led by its current general and decorated member, Jade, a highly dedicated patriot of Edenia and childhood friend of Princess Kitana. The main objective of the Edenian Resistance is to ensure the safety, freedom, justice and security of Edenia.
Their typical duties are enforcing law and order, protecting the royal family of Edenia that is Queen Sindel and her daughter Princess Kitana, and defending its citizens from local and foreign harm. Daily, they continue to guard the feudal monarchy that governs Edenia, preserving order, peace, and democracy within their civilization, and are highly reliable to protect the people from harm. They are known for kombating many otherworldly invasions, which includes tyrants such as Shao Kahn, Shinnok and Onaga. The Edenian Knights are also known for their diplomatic missions and securing peace treaties and relationships between the realms, including the already perfect and secure civilization of Seido and the native races of Outworld, including the Centaurians and the Shokans.
Kitana's non-canonical Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe ending reveals that the defeat of Shao Kahn left Outworld without a ruler. As such, Princess Kitana and her fellow Edenian Resistance fighters seek refuge in Earthrealm where they are given Shang Tsung's Island which they rename "Argus Island" in honor of their deity, Argus. There, they live free from the sight of mortals and turn the island into a bastion of beauty and light as well as a place of refuge. It appears they consist mostly of females.

The Edenian Resistance was first established as Queen Sindel and Kitana became the benevolent rulers of Edenia, upon its restoration after Liu Kang destroyed Kahn after his invasion on Earthrealm. Since then, the process was slow, but very successful. Even Jerrod's esteemed knight, Asgaarth, joined his former rank. The Shokan, including Sheeva as their monarch, were recruited as well.
In the Netherrealm War, more Edenian knights were found and freed from Kahn's tyranny and restored their positions, until the royal guard and the monarchs excepting Kitana were invaded by Tanya's and Shinnok's treachery along with the Army of Darkness. It was thanks to Kung Lao who teleported behind a booby trap in the Edenian prisons escorting the POWs to rest and recover at the Wu Shi Academy. Because of his quick thinking, there were little casualties. Courtesy of Raiden, Jade recovered with Johnny at the Jinsei Chamber for a couple years and soon reunited with her childhood friend; making Jade restore her position as its esteemed general! And from the peace treaty run by Kitana and the Edenians, some of the Centaurs were recruited with their rivals, the Shokan.
The Resistance was in high alert as they received word of the Deadly Alliance, as well as Liu's apparent death. Queen Sindel urged Lao, Aiko, Kitana and Jade to lead the heroes into uncharted territory, let Liu's soul rest, and defeat the sorcerers. Their reinforcements consisting of the Shokan, Saurians and Centaurs joined in the battle against the Tarkatan army at Shang Tsung's Palace; they'd been following the Kombatants as they trekked thru the Outworld frontier. There were several casualties though they were successful on thwarting the malicious vermin, and even escorted the time-displaced Baraka to the Palace and recruited him as one of their generals, albeit closer to the Edenian border.
Minutes later, they received murmurs of Onaga's resurrection, wondering for Outworld's fate after the Deadly Alliance was decimated. Rumors were proven true as Kung Lao and Hanzo alerted the royals. Goro volunteered to put an end to the Dragon King, though Sheeva pleaded him to stay at the Palace. Eventually, half of the royal guard along with Sindel and Jade set out in search for Kitana. They were ambushed at the Lost Tomb where Onaga's corpse rested by the traitor, Tanya, and the reanimated Kitana! Sindel refused to raise an arm, though the militia was incapacitated, until they noticed Ermac pushing thru and Jade win over the rebel. Courtesy of the lost lullaby, it restored Kitana's childhood memories, even having her and Sindel reunite with their lost king, Jerrod! The knights and Edenians were thrilled, and Liu's spirit decimated the remains.
Before then, Kenshi and Aiko found Ermac. Again, thanks to the song, and Kenshi's telepathy, Kahn's thrall was broken and restored his identity as King Jerrod as his dominant soul! The home team was ecstatic to reunite with their lost leader as they informed half the resistance went to the pyramid!
Soon, they were tasked to protect Shinnok's Amulet at the sacred Temple of Elements by Fujin who escorted them there via portal. He also imprisoned the revenant Johnny in its steep prison since he never found a way to restore him... Aiko, Kenshi and Li Mei stayed with them for a while, till the former two sensed suspicious activity near the Temple of Light and the Academy! It wasn't long before Johnny made his move as he had the hive mind with Sonya and Jax as he viciously hunted for the Kamidogu; the resistance failed as his might was infinite, until Ashrah incapacitated him with her Kriss and holy energy. They soon recovered, prepared for the oncoming threats of Onaga and his advancing army thru Outworld and en route to their kingdom.
Meanwhile, the reinforcements gathered in the Living Forest and the barren plains as Onaga's army was advancing! They've been involved in a brutal scrimmage and had other allies joining the cause such as Nightwolf, Frost, Kuai Liang, Sareena, and Baraka. Their new enemy was apparent as Hotaru and the Seido soldiers took in Onaga's side. Luckily Dairou and Darrius put an end to them. Some who stayed in the Temple were cheering for their Champion and without the Kamidogu, Ermac won over Onaga with the other victors! They were then taken to the Sky Temple via Raiden's portal and recovered within the Jinsei Chamber. One by one they marched out and stood by before Lao, Liu, Nightwolf, Raiden and Fujin announced the spiritual cleaning was successful.
A few months passed, and the Resistance was thrilled to see Kitana traverse thru the kingdom with Liu by her side. They didn't know of Armageddon, not even when Kintaro intruded the kingdom and bashed thru the guards, till Goro stopped him. That was until they heard the discussion involving Kitana, Sindel and others in the throne room. They prepared for the worst, even organized a soiree and a banquet in advent of the catastrophe. They were also shellshocked once they saw Bo' return from the dead! Still, some were restful and even unveiled their new vessel, the Netherwing, to head en route to the southern border just seconds before the Forces of Darkness arrived; they still stayed with Asgaarth and prayed for their victory and survival. They still beheld the horrifying sight as Blaze let loose an eruption decimating him, the Pyramid of Argus, and whoever was caught in the crossfire! Luckily, they were so fortunate the Elder Gods spared their warriors, excepting Liu, Kitana and Raiden... They soon received word that the former two lived on as elders as they went from another time watching over the realms since the dawn of time! They'd been looking forward for them to visit, and since Taven was the only demigod remaining in his former corruptive family, they praised for him as their new protector god!
Weeks after Armageddon, Liu took Kitana into Edenia as they became ill; it was soon discovered that she was pregnant! As Caro flashed back to Aiko, the Resistance was more prepared against Shao Kahn and his lethal tournament courtesy of the fallen God's might and training! Argus escorted him to the Elder Gods as Liu was no longer weakened due to lack of worship. They also granted his request promoting the elder Kitana to a goddess! Although, after losing the Great Kung Lao, Liu restarted history thus erasing his valiant deeds and hiding away in Yin Yang Island. History went on with them in peril after losing and being invaded by Kahn, till he was finally vanquished. Soon, Caro and Aiko encountered the baby boy, Cheung Kang, as the denizens assisted thru labor and delivery!
Even several years later, they remained protective and loyal to Edenia and Earthrealm against Kotal and his new threats. They still remain as a constant, strong force to this very day!
