"Fairly God-Witches" is the fifty-first chapter of Luz Clawthorne: Two Worlds, One Family, as well as the ninety-first chapter of Luz Clawthorne overall.
Synopsis[]
Luz gets to know her godfamily while Eda and Star visit some friends; Amity and Dipper find common ground with the most unexpected people.
Plot[]
It was another morning breakfast for the Owl House residents. Acorn yawned as she flew down to join the others, only to have to avoid getting eaten by Ghost. "Ghost, cut that out," Amity scolded her while sitting at the table with the family. "So what's on today's agenda?" Eda asked while drinking her morning apple blood. "Well, me and Mami want to go over to Gravity Falls," Luz explained. "Not just to check up on Dipper, but also to spend some time with Abigail and Clara." "It's been a few days we've seen them, so today would be the perfect day to catch up with them before the girls return to Hexside," Camila added. "Mind if I tag along?" Star asked them. "I did promise Vee we'd play more Fight Fighters together." "Of course, Star," Luz replied before Hooty popped up. "Hoot! Got some mail for Eda!" Hooty declared while coughing up the mail right on top of the Owl Lady's breakfast. Eda looked down at her food and sighed as she grabbed the envelope. "Huh? What is… this?" She looked at the green envelope before opening it and reading the letter inside. "'To Edalyn Clawthorne and her family, we invite you to the Bonesborough Titan Temple for morning service as a guest of honor due to your service to the-', oh, looks like we've been invited to Titan service." "Titan service?" Camila asked. "Oh it's just like church services back in the Human Realm," Luz explained. "We have never been to one, with mom being a wild witch and all that. This is the first time that we have actually been invited to one of these things." "I have never gone to one as well," Amity admitted while feeding Kay. "Odalia preferred that we focus on our studies during the weekend and, well, we only watched the services from the crystal ball." "So are we really going?" King asked. "Well, it says there is free food so… who's gonna say no to that?" Eda asked. "Now finish up, the Owl Family's going to Titan service." "Hmm, sure, why not?" Camila asked, completely unphased at this point by the fact that everyone in the Isles apparently worshiped the carcass that they had been living in. "It could be a very educational experience." "At least you're not worshiping a tree stump," Star said, which confused Luz and Amity. "A… tree stump?" Amity asked. "Oh, it's a Mewni thing," Star explained. "We have this holiday called Stump Day where Mewmans have to come together to honor the Stump… or else." An awkward silence followed. "So, uh, will there be a dress code for this?" Camila asked. And so the Owl Family minus Star, who stayed behind with Acorn and Ghost to keep an eye on Raine and Maurice (whom Ghost had promised not to eat), entered the Titan Temple in Bonesborough. Camila looked around in awe, spotting the huge Titan statue and the rows of seats for the dozens of guests who had come for the service, some of which Luz and Amity recognized from school. "Wow, this does look similar to the church I used to go to back in the Human Realm," Camila whispered while wearing a cloak to hide her ears. Luz and Amity wore the outfits they had worn at Grom, while Kay, in Amity's arms, had a bat-bow. Eda wore her brown pantsuit while King wore a tie and black vest. "Eda," Gilbert said as he and Sully, along with Willow and Gus, walked up to them, Willow and Gus wearing their Grom outfits. "Surprised to see you here." "Yeah, never imagined I would see you guys here," Willow admitted, "We were invited," Eda replied. "Guess it's because of my takedown of the Tarot Guild and taking the job of running the Scooter Crane orphanage they decided to make me the guest of honor." "Yeah, we did hear about that," Sully pointed out. "Congratulations on the job." "And who's this?" Gilbert asked, pointing to Camila. "Don't worry, they're friends," Luz reassured Camila, who nodded. "I'm Camila Noceda, Luz's human mother," Camila replied, extending her hand. "Though if anyone else asks, I'm their cousin Caramel." "Nice to meet you, I'm Sully and this is my husband Gilbert," Sully replied as they shook Camila's hand. "Willow has told us about you." Luz, Amity, Willow, and Gus talked amongst themselves while letting the adults speak to each other. "It is good to see you two here," Willow said while playing with Kay. "I like Kay's little bow." "Thanks, it was hard to get it tied around. Just wanted to have her look her best," Amity replied. "So is anyone else coming here? I see Jerbo and his family there, and Barcus's fam," Luz said while seeing Jerbo and Barcus in the crowd waving to them. "Bo's family is here as well," Gus said, pointing to Bo who was looking for a place to sit with her mom and fathers "Skara says she and her folks are coming as well," Willow mentioned. "Hey guys!" Lambi shouted as she walked up to them, wearing a blue shirt with a decorative poncho, a black skirt with blue tights and black flats. "It's great to see you guys here. I am so glad that you're okay, since I was really worried while you were missing." "Lambi, hey," Amity said to the horned girl as they high-fived each other. "You work here?" "Well, I get to be the Shaman assistant today, since my mom wants me to help out for service," she said as she held up some pamphlets, handing one to each of them "If there's anything you guys need, just let me know!" "We'll keep that in mind," Luz said while noticing that the Brookes show up. "Skara's here… and it looks like she brought Ms. Sourpuss." Most of the witches turned to see the Brooke family show up with Nina in tow. Nina, who was wearing a black suit and tie, noticed everyone staring at her. She scowled. "Willow!" Skara, who was in a red suit, shouted as she came over to Willow, the two hugging. "So good to see you came." "Same!" Willow replied while Luz walked over to Nina. "Surprised to see you here, Nina," Luz admitted. "To be honest, given your character, I didn't think you'd want to be dragged along to this kind of thing… or that you would be allowed in." "Yeah, well Skara's mom pulled some strings and said that I'm allowed here since technically, I'm recognized as a child of the Titan," Nina explained, crossing her arms. "I don't want to be here, but I am curious to know what this place is like compared to the one back at the reserves." "What do you think about it?" Willow asked while the werecat looked around. "Less fur around and it is much cleaner in general," Nina admitted while spotting Viney nearby. Viney also noticed Nina, who gave the Potts girl a smirk while gesturing to Amity, which made Viney look nervous as she shook her head. "Anything wrong, Viney?" Atkin asked while sitting beside Betty. "It's fine." Viney replied nervously. Amity noticed Viney there. "Hey, Viney's here as well." "Yeah, surprised she didn't bring Emira along…" Nina muttered in a sing-sang tone, entertaining herself while hiding her discomfort at being here. "So wanna find a spot together?" Gus asked his friends. "Yeah, I wouldn't mind us sitting together," Luz agreed as they went to find a spot to sit. "What about you, Nina? Wanna sit with us?" Skara offered the werecat. "Nah, you go ahead, I'll find my own spot somewhere," Nina told her, while feeling her hand being grabbed by Scabrina's. "You can sit with me and my friends," Scabrina offered and Nina saw the spot where Moose and other little kids were gathered. "Um… I think I'm good," Nina said, pulling her hand free and backing away while everyone else around her headed to find a seat. She looked around in discomfort. She thought it would be something similar to the reservation and it was… but not really. "Hey," spoke Lambi, who caught Nina's attention. "Everything alright?" "Oh uh, yeah. Just… in unfamiliar territory," Nina replied, shifting uncomfortably. "Yeah, I can understand that this can be a lot, but I'm sure you'll do fine," Lambi said as she handed Nina a pamphlet. "Is there any way I can help accommodate you? I'm sure they do things differently back at your temple." "Well… I think I'm going to be okay," Nina replied, scratching the back of her neck. "But thanks for your concern." "It's no problem," Lambi replied with a smile. "I'm just glad to see you here." This surprised Nina. "R-Really?" "Of course," Lambi nodded. "I'm always happy to see new faces around here, since this is a building for everyone in the Isles. You're just as welcome here as any other witch." "Uh… wow, um. Thanks… what's your name again?" Nina asked her. "Mary, but most call me Lambi," she answered. "Do you need any help finding a spot to sit?" "I'll just… sit in the back. Less crowded," Nina replied. "And… thanks again." "I'm always happy to help," Lambi replied while she helped lead Nina to a seat near the back in an area that was less crowded with people. Nina felt more relaxed, especially thanks to Lambi's welcoming presence. She felt no fear coming from the girl, no animosity. Just warm kindness. "Thanks, Lambi," Nina said as she sat down. "Once again, it is no problem, Nina," Lambi replied. "Though are you going to be okay sitting alone?" "Well, you can sit with me if you want," Nina replied, surprised by her request. She was also surprised when Lambi sat next to her. They heard sounds of an organ being played, followed by a drumbeat as the witches turned their attention to the Titan statue. Walking over was a woman with white curly hair with large horns and tied up side bangs, wearing a blue robe with a white cowl and a skull necklace. She held up a staff that had a goat skull at the end. "Witches and demons, we proudly present… Shaman Awassi Lambada!" someone shouted. "Lambada…" Nina said as she turned to Lambi. "Wait, is she-?" "My mom? Yeah, she's the local Shaman," Lambi said with a nod. "Greetings, witches young and old," Awassi said while looking at the crowd. "Thank you for being here on this lovely day that Titan has granted us. His will has helped us through these tough times. But let not our struggles sour our mood, cause today we have a special guest here, the witch who has decided to help run the Scooter Crane Home for Unwanted Demons and Witchlings. Our very own local hero, Edalyn Clawthorne, has joined us today with her family. Would you care to step up!" Clapping was heard as Eda raised her hand up. "Yeah, thank you, thank you," Eda said as she walked up to join Awassi. "I mean, really, you all are too kind." Seeing everyone smiling while looking at her, Eda felt a bit nervous. She gave herself a moment, though she wasn't sure what to say. "It's, uh, an honor to be here and a surprise to say the least," Eda said. "But all I can say is… power to the people." She raised her fist up, which confused a lot of people. "Um, Shaman Lambada, if you will." "Thank you, Edalyn," Awassi bowed to her while Eda walked back to her seat. Later on, Lambada spoke in her sermon. "I know we are all excited for the Day of Unity, but let's also think of what the Titan wants now, not just on the Day of Unity," she said. "While we should all look forward to what the Titan will offer us, we cannot forget what he has already given us. Be thankful for what we have and what we share, for in doing so we are acting in accordance with the Titan's Will." While listening to the words from the Shaman, Amity looked down. Kay snuggled up to her, which made her pat the gillchild's head as she smiled despite the look of uncertainty that was evident on her face. After service, the Owl family left the temple together as Eda and King were carrying trays of food to bring home. "Well this should cover dinner," Eda states while looking at her trays of food. "King, try not to eat it all along the way." "I'm just gonna share some with Maurice when we get home," King said. "So Mami, what do you think of the service?" Luz asked Camila. "Well, it was nice. Though I was raised a Christian… but I don't really know what to believe at this point," Camila admitted. "I mean, you and Amity have met gods and other deities, I was revived by a voodoo spirit… so does that mean Christianity is a lie?" Luz gave her human mother a thoughtful look. "Well, it just means that your religion may not be the only one that is valid. Think of it this way. Just because you know that other religions are partially true, doesn't mean we have to stop believing in what we're familiar with. Like say, and I know you wouldn't understand, if the X-Men can still have different religious beliefs individually despite knowing that Thor exists, then I'm sure you can still still believe in a higher being that created two naked humans just so they get tempted." "That is true…" Camila nodded. "I guess?" "And besides, even if I've met other gods, the Titan is still my god. The one I have the most reverence for," Luz explained. "Yeah! The Titan is who we worship after all!" Amity agreed immediately, hiding the uncertainty in her tone. "Though if every religion is at least partially true, what about the contradictions like who actually created the universe?" Camila asked in confusion while Eda patted her back. "It's best not to think too much of it," Eda told her as they continued to walk home. Nearby, Skara was looking around for Nina. "Nina? Where'd you go?" she asked before she spotted Nina talking with Lambi. "Just wanted to say, thanks again for helping me out and, um, sitting beside me," Nina told her. "It's all good, just glad that you enjoyed the service," Lambi replied, her smile unwavering. "Yeah… well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow at school then," Nina said as she began to walk away, waving at Lambi who waved back. "Hey," Skara said to Nina as she walked up to her. "So Lambi helped you out?" "Yeah, she's… pretty nice," Nina replied, actually smiling. Meanwhile in Gravity Falls, the Gatesfield teens and adults were having breakfast at Greasy's Diner. "These pancakes do taste like coffee," Gus G. noted while eating the pancakes. "Yeah," Masha nodded while eating her food. "Man, can't believe this town has already moved on from those gravity anomalies a few days ago." "Yeah, guess an earthquake is a more acceptable explanation to them than the truth," Dana commented while she spotted Clara walking back and forth instead of sitting down with the rest of them. "Clara, you alright?" "Oh it's just…" Clara was tapping her own arm in nervousness. "Luz and Camila are coming over today and you could say that I'm… super nervous." "What's so nervous about spending some time with your long-lost godfamily?" Gus G. asked. "Everything!" Clara told him. "I'm going to be spending the day with Luz, and I don't know how to give a first impression of her. Like, from what Willow says, she's like a rebel, and I've been wondering if she's going to think I'm lame or too preppy." "Hey, hey, calm down, Clara," Masha told her. "Look, I'm sure that she's gonna like you for who you are." "You think so?" Clara asked and Masha nodded. "Though maybe you should follow her lead," Masha advised. "Like in order to get to know her better, just ask what she likes to do around here and let her lead you around." "Yeah, I can do that," Clara said, nodding at the suggestion. "Maybe I can learn what music she likes. You think she's a Maroon Five girl?" "I feel like she'd be into Santana," Rudo replied. "She definitely seems to be the kind of girl who is into some kind of rock," Gus responded while drinking his orange juice. "Hey guys!" Vee shouted as she along with Blubs and Durland came in to have breakfast. While the two cops ordered, she moved over to their table. "Hey, Vee, what's up!" Masha waved to her. "Doing good, Mash," Vee replied as she and Masha high-fived each other. "Mash?" Clara questioned, crossing her arms. "Oh yeah, Vee gave her a nickname," Rudo said while Clara pouted. "You uh… doing okay there, Clara?" Gus asked her. "I'm uh… fine," Clara said while looking over at Gus. Her expression was awkward and they both quickly looked away, Gus just as awkward. The two were still working things out. At Nora and Abigail's table, Nora looked around at the townfolk going about with their business as usual. "I can't believe the whole town just accepts what happened a few days ago as only an earthquake," Nora said in disbelief while Abigail calmly drank her coffee. "We both know what really happened, and I'm pretty sure they know too…" "It's quite common, really," Abigail responded. "Most people have a weirdness censor. They would believe almost anything if they can feel safe, rather than accept the reality that the world is filled with dangerous and horrible things that we have no control over. You would be surprised by how much people are willing to ignore as long as they are told there is a logical explanation for it. A dragon showing up in New York can be passed off as a stray balloon from China Town, pixies are often mistaken for bugs, that kind of thing. Adults have a much stronger weirdness censor than kids since as you get older you tend to develop a stronger grip of skepticism." "I think I get what you mean, like it's still hard for me to adjust to all these things…" Nora said, looking troubled. "It's like… the knowledge that we're not alone and that there are other worlds and that our universe almost ended a few days ago but we are only one of many universes and we are not even its only inhabitants…" Abigail sighed. "Look, Nora, I know that you're not used to these things like I am," Abigail assured her. "And I can't promise you that it'll be better over time… because it is impossible to look at the world the same way again knowing what you know now. But I promise to help you however I can." Nora nodded. "Thank you, Abigail. I appreciate that." Sometime later in the woods of Gravity Falls, a portal door was opened. Coming out were Camila, Eda, Luz, and Star. Luz brought someone else with them… Shmebulock. "Well Shmebulock, you're finally back," Luz said as she dropped the gnome. "Now get out of here." "Shmebulock!" the gnome shouted as he ran off into the woods where he belonged. "Still freaked out by those guys…" Star commented. "Come on, let's go check on Dipper," Eda said after closing up the portal door. "I want to see how he's holding up before I go meet up with some old friends." The four made their way to Soos's, where Luz knocked on the door. Opening up was Abuelita. "Hola, Abuelita, we're here to see Dipper," Luz said. "Oh yes, he's in the living room." Abuelita replied "And Luz, perhaps you should should try to say 'Buenos días', which means 'good morning.'" "Oh uh, thanks, Abuelita," Luz replied. "Oh, and this is my other- um, human Mami, Camila Noceda." "Buenos días señora," Camila greeted Abuelita, who smiled at Camila. Once they went inside, Luz, Eda and Camila found Dipper, who was sitting on the couch-to-bed with Waddles, both of them looking rather depressed. He looked up when he heard them come in, immediately perking up. "Luz, Eda! I'm so glad you two are here!" Dipper said as Luz came over to hug him. "Hey, Dips," Luz said as Eda went over to hug Dipper as well. "How are you feeling, champ?" Eda asked him. "I… heard about Mabel." "Yeah…" Dipper said while looking down. "I'm… trying to keep it together, it's tough with what's been going on lately, but I'm still happy to see you guys." He then realized something. "Oh, Luz, now that you're here, guess what was brought over here from the Mystery Shack!" He got up and led them to the corner where a bunch of his old stuff from the Mystery Shack sat. "Soos talked things out with those agents and they agreed to bring over most of the stuff from the Shack, including my personal belongings… that weren't stolen. They even brought over some of my board games, including…" He held a black and blue board game with a picture of a wizard on the cover. "Dungeons, Dungeons, & More Dungeons!" "Oh, I remembered playing this game!" Luz realized. "Of course, how could I forget playing as Amazon Ninja, Luzeka the Widowmaker!" Camila's eyes shined as she saw the game, which brought back memories from when she was young. "Oh, yeah that's a… game that I don't know a lot about. But I remember it being around in my time! Hehe…" she said nervously. "Yeah, I used to have to force Stan to play with me," Dipper explained. "I had to stop him from cheating… but we had fun." He sighed before looking back up at Luz. "Since you're here, maybe you would be interested in playing with me, like old times." "Oh… ooh…" Luz winced as she rubbed her arm awkwardly, "As much as I would like to play with you, me and Mami have other plans. We plan to meet up with Abigail and Clara… but we can play later at some other time." "Oh… right," Dipper said, looking down. "How about Ford? I'm sure that the nerdy version of Stan would be interested in this kind of thing," Luz suggested. Dipper sighed. "Honestly, I've barely seen Ford lately." "What?" Luz's tone was icy, her anger rising. "I'm gonna have a chat with him…" Outside the Mystery Shack, Luz dropped to the ground after flying over in her cambion form. "Ford!" she shouted, only to be blocked by some guards. "Sorry ma'am, you can't come in," the guard told her. "The Mystery Shack's shut down," the other replied. "Yeah, yeah, I know that, but I'm here to see Ford Pines!" Luz demanded. "Where is he?" "Um… he's unavailable right now…" the guard said. "Then make him come," Luz demanded, the two guards looking at each other while seeing Luz's intimidating glare. One guard brought up his radio. "Bring Mr. Pines out, someone's here to see him." Soon, Ford came out of the Shack. "Alright, who is it that wants to see… Luz?" Ford said while noticing the peeved Luz crossing her arms. "Uh, hi… is Lilith with you?" "No, she's not, and you're lucky she isn't," Luz said while glaring at him. "I want to know why the hell aren't you out there spending some time with Dipper?!" "Look, I promise to watch over Dipper, but the work I've been doing is important," Ford argued. "Yeah, and so is not neglecting your nephew, dumbass!" Luz growled at him. "In case you missed it, he just lost his adopted father and his sister was taken away from him by her parents!" "Yeah, I did get in contact with them, but there was nothing I could do about it," Ford said, but then he saw the ire from Luz's cambion form. "Listen here, you six-fingered Einstein-wannabe!" Luz scowled at him. "Dipper's your responsibility now, so you're gonna step up and actually make an effort before I decide to have you end up like Stephen Hawkings! Do I make myself clear?!" she demanded as flames burst from her mouth. Ford backed away, feeling the intensity from this girl. Fear showed in his face as he actually fell down. "O-Of course, I promise to spend some time with Dipper…" "Words alone ain't enough," Luz snarled before changing to normal. She readjusted her jacket as she walked away from Ford. "Wow, and I thought my niece was scary…" spoke one guard as he helped Ford. Star walked over to Vee's house, where she knocked on the front door. Opening up was Vee. "Star!" an ecstatic Vee said while hugging her. "You're back!" "Yeah, good to see you too, Vee!" Star replied, equally ecstatic. "You wanna play some of those video games?" "Actually, me along with Blubs and Durland are going FCLORPing today," Vee explained. "F-clorping?" Star asked in confusion. "It stands for 'Foam and Cardboard Legitimate Outdoor Roleplay', it's something they play along with Soos and Mr. Determined. I played it once with them, and it's like, the most awesome game to play outdoors! You get to wear cardboard and foam, make cardboard swords and shields, it's like a video game but in real life!" Vee shouted excitedly. "So maybe you can come along?" "You know, that does sound like it's up my alley," Star said with a nod. "Sure, I can join in." "Great!" Vee said as she turned to shout at Blubs and Durland, who were inside the house. "Dads! Star wants to join in on FCLORP!" "Well she better bring some cardboard, cause we're going all in!" Durland said while he and Blubs came out in cardboard armor. In Soos's house, Dipper just looked at the DD&MD board he had set up with a sad sigh. He stared at his 38-sided dice and then glanced at Waddles, who sat across from him. "This is officially rock bottom…" he said to Waddles, who oinked sadly. "Dipper?" The boy looked up, surprised to see Ford standing over him. "Ford? What… what are you doing here?" "Um… I heard that you were in need of some one-on-one time and Luz wanted me to make sure that you're okay," Ford replied awkwardly. "Are you alright?" "Yeah, just… fine," Dipper responded while looking down, both feeling awkward around each other. "What about your work with the agents?" "Oh I think they will be fine without me for a while," Ford said while spotting the 38-sided die/ "Wait… is that a 38-sided die from Dungeons, Dungeons & More Dungeons?" Dipper looked up to his grunkle, his expression filled with hope. "Yeah! You know that game?" Ford began to recite. "With pen and paper, shield and sword…" "Our quest will be our great reward!" they said together, followed by a laugh they shared. "You know, this was my favorite game in the whole multiverse! I can't believe they still make it," Ford said. "They do!" Dipper confirmed as he pulled out the rule book. "I was hoping to find someone to play with me, but everyone has plans of their own." "My boy, do you know what this means?" Ford asked while looking at the rule book "We must stop everything I've been working on… and play!" he said with a smile while Dipper smiled back. Things may not be too bad with Ford after all. At the mall, the Gatesfield teens and adults were waiting at the center of the building, where Luz and Camila said they would meet up. "You know, this may be our first time in an actual mall," Gus said. "Like, we don't have one at Gatesfield." "Luz said she'll meet us here," Clara said while looking more nervous. "I wonder when she is coming. Did something happen to her? Was she fighting vampires or-" "There she is now," Rudo said, pointing up at the escalator, which they all turned to. Mall music suddenly started playing 'Thunderstruck' by AC/DC as Luz was shown sliding down the escalator while wearing her leather jacket, a black shirt with a yellow lightning bolt, a skull necklace, her usual shorts and black leggings along with her combat boots. Behind her was Camila in a brown shirt with a 'O' icon, dark jeans and brown boots, waving to the others. The Gatesfield teens looked up in awe at Luz coming down in all her coolness. To them, it was like meeting the coolest kid down on the block or a hot-shot pilot or a singer from a prog-rock band. "Hey… Luz," Clara said, waving to her. "What's up," Luz said as she walked up and fist bumped Clara. "Nice seeing you again, Clara, and friends." "We have been looking forward to spending some time with you, Luz," Masha replied as she fist bumped Luz. "Yeah, we heard a lot about you from Willow, how is she?" Gus G asked her while also fist bumping Luz. "Doing great, Double-G," Luz replied. "See what I did there? I usually call my Gus 'G-Man' so you're 'Double-G' since your initial-" "Yeah, yeah, I got it," Gus said, nodding. "And uh, Dana and Rudo, right?" Luz asked, pointing to the other two. "The way you entered, that was the coolest!" Dana exclaimed. "Yeah, did you set up the music for that?" Rudo asked her. "No, I think it was just good timing," Luz admitted. "Gail, it's nice to see you again!" Camila said as she hugged Abigail, who hugged her back. "You too!" Abigail responded happily. Camila noticed Nora. "Oh, I don't think we've properly met. I"m Camila Noceda, you must be Leonora Gordon, right?" "That's right," Nora replied, shaking Camila's hand. "But you can call me Nora." "It's nice to meet you, Nora." Camila replied. Luz then looked up to Abigail as she walked up to her. "Nice seeing you again, um, Abigail." "Of course, Luz," Abigail responded, the two showing a bit of awkwardness between them. "So um," Luz spoke up. "Since you guys are new around Gravity Falls, I thought I would show you the best parts of town." "Yeah, Luz does know this place better than us," Camila admitted. "That would be nice," Clara said while Abigail looked around, checking for someone. "Eda's… not with you, is she?" Abigail asked them. "No, don't worry, she's off meeting some old friends of hers," Luz assured her. "In the mountains, I think…" In the mountains near Gravity Falls, Eda had arrived at the entrance of a cave. "Hello? H.W., you there?" Eda asked around until she saw some disembodied hands crawl over to her. "Hey, is she here?" "I am!" Popping up was an olive-skinned short witch with long, white, messy hair, red eyes and gnarly teeth. She was seen wearing a brown/red robe with dark brown handprints on the front. "Eda, nice to see you again! The girls in the book club have been wondering where you've been!" "Sorry about that, Hand Witch," Eda apologized. "I was stuck in the Isles for a while." "What happened to your eye?" the Hand Witch asked her. "Long story that I don't feel like getting into," Eda said as she walked into the cave with the Hand Witch, looking around at how decorative the place was now. "Love what you did the place, Handy." "Yes, thanks to a kind nice young lady with the grumpy grunkle, I've gotten a complete makeover around here," the Hand Witch said. "Of course, I still miss my watch her grunkle stole, but I got a boyfriend out of a mountain climber." "Sounds like you ran into my ex," Eda noted while seeing the other girls in the cave. "Hey, the Owl Lady is in the cave!" "Edalyn, welcome!" spoke a tall, pale skinned slim witch woman with long lavender hair, and green eyes. She wore a purple top with a long red long skirt, purple tights, and heels. "How do you like my new look?" she asked while striking a pose. "Eh, too sixties, Mimsy," Eda commented, causing the woman to change back into a short, overweight elderly witch with more messy hair, an indigo shirt, magenta skirt, dark magenta sleeves, and violet shoes. "Besides, I like you the way you are, you don't need to change your appearance for me." "Well I just want to look as foxy as you, Eda," replied Madame Mim. "Oh don't fret about it, Mim," spoke Witch Hazel as she flew up to Eda on her broomstick. "It's good to see you, Eda. I was one of the witches that escaped from Purgatory. I thought I recognized you there during the breakout!" "So did I, Hazy," Eda said while shaking her hand. She turned to a crystal ball filled with fog "Leota, how's that mansion you've been living in?" Appearing in the crystal ball was the pale face of a woman. "From dusk til dawn, it still bumps in the night. The ghosts still sing and dance, under the moonlight." "Oh yeah, still rhyming I see," Eda said while noticing someone in the shadows. "Huh, I didn't know you girls added someone else to our group." "Oh yes, this one's a… special guest I brought," Madam Mim said as she called forth her guest. "Come now, come and meet Eda, Maggy." "I told you not to call me that, you old witch," spoke the woman who came out of the shadows. She had short, black hair with a purple streak and yellow eyes that had triangular corneas. What stood out about her appearance… was that she was a white-feathered duck with a yellow bill. She wore a black sleeveless dress with a purple gemstone connected to her black cape, and black fingerless arm-gloves. "I prefer to be called… Magica De Spell!" Eda looked her over before leaning towards the Hand Witch to whisper to her. "Is she a duck familiar that got turned into a witch or a witch that got turned into a duck?" "Magica here is an old friend of mine," Madame Mim explained, patting Magica's back. "Right now she's been going through some rough times." "Huh, what kind of rough times?" Eda asked. "I don't like to talk about it…" Magica said. "Then I'll explain it!" Mim chipped, making Magica groan. "She got trapped in a dime by her arch-rival for years, and after she was released she ended up losing her powers, which left her in a very tough spot. So I have been trying to help her get back on her foot." "If it weren't for that Scottish billionaire duck of an enemy along with his blasted kids of his, I would have succeeded in getting my revenge!" Magica declared. "Would you like some brew, dear?" Hazel asked her, handing some brew. "...thank you," Magica responded while receiving the brew. "Sounds like this girl's been through a lot… where's she from?" Eda asked, curious. "She's from a world of anthropomorphic animals," Mim explained. "You know, where people are cats, dogs, ducks, and birds, but there's also normal domesticated dogs, cats, ducks, and birds… don't ask how that works." Eda gave a nod. "Well, I do live in a realm where there's demons that are like talking animals… so what else did I miss?" Back in the Boiling Isles, Amity was in her uncle's restaurant, meeting up with Edric and Emira. "Meet Ghost, guys," Amity said, having brought her cat Palisman with them. "She's my new Palisman and I wanted to introduce her to you guys and everyone else." "Aw, she's so cute and pretty," Emira said while petting her. "Yeah, and she kinda looks like you," Edric pointed out. "Why do you think that?" Amity asked, not realizing how cat-like she looked. "Ooh, let's take Penstragram photos with her!" Emira said as she and Edric used their scrolls to take pictures with Ghost. The cat Palisman did glamorous poses with them for each picture, enjoying the attention. Amity chuckled before she noticed Batric hanging out near the ceiling. "What's Batric doing up top?" "Oh, he's keeping his distance," Edric said. "Well, that is probably wise. Ghost has a habit of catching and eating flying things," Amity said while Ghost rolled her eyes. "Eh, like I'll eat him," Ghost said while doing another pose for Em and Ed, both making cute cat faces with Ghost as their scroll took the picture. It was then the bell rang as entering the restaurant was Blazer. "Yo, Ed, what's up?" "Blaze, hey!" Edric replied, stopping for a moment. "Here to eat or hang?" "Oh I'm just…" Blazer took a look at Ghost, who stared at him back. They both narrowed their eyes at each other while Ghosts hissed. Blazer snarled back, which confused Amity and the twins. "You know, I'll catch you later, Ed," he said as he walked out the door. The Blight siblings looked at each other, confused. "What was that all about?" Amity asked. "I don't know…" Edric shrugged "Was he… snarling?" Emira questioned. "Honestly, I have no idea what just happened," Ghost said, just as confused. Back in Gravity Falls, Luz was showing the Gatesfield teens around town. "Outside of the weirdness that Gravity Falls provides, this town has a lot of hot spots to hang out," Luz explained. "By that, I mean where the local teens go and hang." "You really do know your way here," Clara commented. "Well, it's kinda like my second home from the Boiling Isles," Luz explained. "Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I stop by and make this place my personal playground… I'm kinda infamous around here." Masha noticed a barrel factory with a 'No Luz Allowed' sign out front. "I kinda see that…" "And here it is!" Luz shouted, pointing to the arcade. "The good old Arcade!" The gang was led inside the Arcade, where they began to play the various games available to them. Clara wasn't sure which one to play as she looked around until she spotted a skee ball. "Ah, good old skee ball," Luz said as she inserted a coin. "I can help with that," Clara offered, grabbing a skee ball. "Alright, let's see how you do," Luz said as Clara looked at the holes and began to throw skee balls at them, not doing too well because this was her first time playing skee ball ever. "Alright, let's see what Fight Fighters really brings!" Masha declared as she and Dana played the game in two-player mode. "Hey, there's a secret code behind the machine," Rudo noticed, spotting the one that could bring a character to life. "Wonder if we could try it…" "Yo Rudo, want to play this new game in two-player mode?" Gus offered, as he was at a first-person shooter game called 'Hero's Duty.' "Yeah, I'd like to fight zombie bugs!" Rudo replied, going to play the game. Camila, Abigail, and Nora watched as their kids were playing the game. "You know, this brings back memories from when I was their age," Nora replied. "Back in Maine, all I used to do was play Q-Bert at the mall." "I never played any video games growing up," Abigail admitted with a sigh. "For obvious reasons…" "I, um, played a little when I was Luz's age," Camila replied, remembering the many days she would spend at the arcade and playing the Nintendo system back in college… with Manny. "I'm not very good at this," Clara said in defeat and disappointment when she saw her final score. "Eh, it's okay," Luz said, brushing it off. "There is room for improvement. Now let me take a turn." Over in the backyard of Soos's grandmother's, the group of Star, Vee, Blubs, and Durland arrived to meet up with Soos and Toby Determined. "Hey, you guys are just in time!" Soos waved to them. "Me and Toby just finished setting up the cardboard armor and the castle!" "So what do you do here? Like this whole roleplay thing?" Star asked Vee. "Oh well it's simple," Vee started to explain to her. "You use the cardboard to play various roles and creatures. Though Durland likes being the fortress more." "I was made for this role!" Durland declared while dressed as a cardboard goblin fortress. "You sure are, Durl!" Blubs replied while in his cardboard warrior armor. "So what roles should I play?" Star asked Vee. "Well, Soos is the knight and Toby's… a rook?" Vee wasn't unsure what Toby was. "I'm supposed to be an elf mage," Toby said. "Okay… maybe you could be a princess?" Vee suggested. "No way!" Star immediately shot down, surprising Vee. "No way I'm the princess… personal reasons… how about I be… a warrior! Like, a valkyrie or a barbarian-kind!" "Oh, okay!" Vee said. And so Star used the cardboard to make her a warrior outfit. She used it to resemble a valkyrie-type warrior with a sword and shield and cardboard helmet. "Alright, it's time that I conquer the castle in the name of liberation!" Star declared while facing off Soos, Toby, and Blubs. "Okay, but just remember that in FCLORP, it's all for fun and pretend…" Vee told Star who looked even more determined to win. "Yeah, fun and pretend," Star smiled as she let out a battle cry. "YAAAH!" Dipper and Ford were in the middle of playing DD&MD when they suddenly heard loud cries and screams coming from outside. "What was that?" Ford asked. "I think Soos and his FCLORP group are playing hard mode or something," Dipper said as he rolled the dice. Soos, Blubs, and Toby groaned while they sat down, Vee having to calm Star down. "Maybe you should tone it down a notch…" Vee suggested with a wince. "Yeah, you played a little rough there, kid," Blubs said. "I think you mangled Toby's face." "… This is how I look, Blubs," Toby told him with a glare. "Hehe, sorry, I am just used to playing it rough," Star said while rubbing the back of her neck. "Say, I don't think you ever picked out a role for yourself in the game." "Well, I haven't thought about it much," Vee said. "Maybe… I could be a high priestess?" "That's a good idea, Vee," Durland said. And so Vee soon donned a cardboard made dress with a staff, standing on top of Durland the fortress while Toby and Blubs as the elf mage and goblin warrior stood against Star and Soos. "Oh I was captured by the elf mage and trapped in this tall fortress, who will save me from this towering doom?" Vee said while in character before whispered to Durland. "Am I doing good?" "You're doing great, hon," Durland whispered. "Alright, Soos the Knightmare," Star said as she held her cardboard sword up, "Let's safe the high priestess from the elf mage!" "I'll fight by your side, Star the Liberator!" Soos responded, raising his own cardboard sword and shield up. "I'm a fortress!" Durland added. The next stop for the Nocedas and the Gatesfield residents was the music store. Luz looked through the CDs and records along with the other teens while Camila looked around at the store. "Wow, so many new bands," Camila said while looking at a standee of the Jonas Brothers and a display for iPods. "Are these… what music players are like?" "Yeah, everything's digital these days," Nora replied. "Back then you could record songs from the radio with tapes. Nowadays you can download them from the sites, but kids these days prefer the free-music sites, which are highly illegal." "Why download music when you can just get it physically?" Luz asked while picking out CDs. "Best of Santana, Genesis, oh Amity would love listening to the Best of Prince… what would Willow and Gus listen to? Maybe give them some options. What music do you like, Clara?" "Oh, um… I do like… listening to a little of Selena Gomez, and… Big Time Rush…" She spotted one particular CD and picked it up. "You ever listen to Paul McCarthy?" "The leader of the Beatles who wrote 'Blackbird', 'Yesterday', and 'Eleanor Rigby'?" Luz asked, smiling. "I did hear the Beatles were making a comeback, rightfully so." Clara smiled back. "I like Blackbird more, it feels more relatable to me." "Wanna listen to it together?" Luz suggested, holding up the headphones. Clara nodded as the two held up the headphones while scanning the CD's barcode, the music starting to play. Listening to it, the two sang together "Blackbird singing in the dead of night… take these broken wings and learn to fly… all your life! You were only waiting for this moment to arise." Masha watched them with a smile, glad that Clara was doing well so far. Gus watched this moment as well and Masha noticed the CDs he had picked out. "Gorillaz? You know, I remembered seeing them back in the Toonami block." "Yeah, I remembered that." Gus replied. "What do you listen to?" "Babymetal, the J-Pop stuff, along with some Coldplay and ooh, Lemon Demon," Masha said, holding up a CD. Dana and Rudo were looking at some CDs that had the parental advisory stickers on them. As the song Clara and Luz were listening to finished, Abigail offered to pay for their CDs. As they went to the front desk, coming out was Wendy. "Wendy, you work here now?" Luz asked the redhead. "Yeah, since the Shack's shut down, I was out of the job." Wendy responded. "But luckily, Tambry knew a friend who hooked me up with this gig, so now I work selling music." She looked down while checking out the CDs. "It's a good gig, but… I do miss the Shack." "Yeah, same." Luz nodded in agreement, though she was still glad that Wendy was doing alright with the new job. "Well, I'm here to spend time with my godsister Clara and her friends." "Yeah, I've seen them around," Wendy replied. "How's Gravity Falls treating you guys?" "We're… still adjusting to it," Clara mentioned. "Very," Nora added. Back in the Isles, Lilith in a cafe having lunch… with Odalia. "So, Odalia." Lilith said while eating her lunch. "How have you been doing lately?" "Well, I've gotten in contact with Mary Regal, and we're both working on a case against Arthur and Destiny," Odalia said while eating hers. "Once we've gathered enough evidence against them, we can get them away from Alador and put them in the Conformatorium." "What have you gathered so far?" Lilith asked. "A history of safety regulation violations, child endangerment, child neglect, parental abuse, not to mention the blackmails and payoffs," Odalia explained. "Stuff that was covered up under Arthur's payroll. We can't allow Alador to be hurt by them again." Lilith nodded in agreement. "If I were still a Coven Head, I'd have them persecuted a lot sooner if I had learned what they did to their own children…" "There was nothing much you could do about it, Lilith. Back then, they were forced into retirement," Odalia assured her before she sighed. "If I had done them away sooner…" She shook her head. "No, I want this done in the proper, legal way." Lilith nodded, understanding what Odalia was thinking of. She decided to change the subject. "Have you heard from Amity lately? I heard she went with Eda to the temple service this morning." "Why yes, she sent me pictures of her new Palisman and wouldn't you know it," Odalia said as she held up her scroll, showing a picture of Ghost next to Kay. "Doesn't she look familiar?" Lilith nodded. "Did she also tell you…?" "Yes," Odalia said with a hushed voice. "She told me everything about him… by Titan, it's something that I've never heard being done before… a witch made of… it shouldn't be possible but it is. I don't know if even Arthur knows." "We have to make sure no one knows about it," Lilith replied. Odalia nodded. "Right," she agreed. "So how's your little… house guest doing?" "Oh, he's doing well," Lilith responded. "Dad has taken a strong liking to him and is showing him the ropes of his hobbies. Our guest has also started doing more chores around the house, even though he doesn't have to." "How is he adjusting to things?" Odalia asked her. "Considering the circumstances, better than expected. He even asked me if I could talk to Dr. Bride about adding adjustments to his new arm," Lilith said. "He's a very smart young boy with a number of special interests. I think you would like him." "Well, it's a good thing you decided to take that boy in and help him out, because Titan knows he needs it," Odalia said. "Yeah, and since I've left he keeps sending me photos of his Palisman," Lilith said as she held up her scroll, showing Flapjack resting on a blanket. "Oh, that is quite an adorable little thing," Odalia said with a laugh as Lilith laughed as well. "Say, do you remember when you would fall asleep after studying too hard at Hexside? Sometimes when you were still studying?" Lilith blushed. "You… remember that? Well, the librarian didn't take it kindly about me sleeping at the table drooling back then… but it wouldn't compare to how you once slept during that one lecture. You had to have Geist use an illusion to make it look like you were awake." "I had to stay up to study for my spelling lessons, I couldn't conjure a spell until it was perfect!" Odalia pointed out as the two laughed at each other from the stories of their school days. "Well, you were… cute when you slept back then," Lilith said while flicking a strand of hair from her face. Odalia blushed as she smiled at Lilith. But then she noticed her ring on her hand, which made her realize what she was doing. Shaking her head, Odalia just sighed. "Is… everything alright, Lia?" Lilith asked her. "Lilith… about what happened when we were in past Bonesborough," Odalia said. "When we… shared that dance… do you think that was… appropriate?" "Um…" Lilith looked down nervously before glancing up at Odalia. "I… look, you're a married woman and… it would be wrong…" Odalia nodded in agreement. "I think… we should agree that there was nothing that happened between us that could compromise our relationships. It's not like I-" "A scandal is something you can't afford," Lilith told her. "Of course! I mean, I'm still trying to put my family back together, so the last thing I need is to compromise it," Odalia said nervously, both of them feeling awkward. "I-It's not like we still…" "Yeah, I guess we don't," Lilith said while looking down in disappointment. "Neither of us could afford it, could we?" Odalia sighed. "I don't think so," she said as the waitress walked up. "Can I give you two something else? Like desert?" she asked. "Some creep bagels, and gerbil tea," Lilith ordered. "Same," Odalia replied. As the waitress left to send their dessert order to the kitchen, she was then pulled away by a tail. She was gagged by the mouth as leaning on her shoulder was someone who gave her a whisper. "Why don't you take a break, hon," spoke Trini as her eyes glowed while her lips curled up. "I wish to… spice things up with their order..." "And when she tried to escape, that's when me, Amity, and the G-Man found Emily and cornered her!" Luz was telling the Gatesfield teens about one of her adventures, specifically recounting the Glandus War. They were at an outdoor burger shack where they ate while Luz told them about how she and Amity won the Glandus War. "Emily wasn't called Emily Tricks for nothing, as she had her girlfriend use her puppet magic to take us on," Luz explained. "Luckily, Amity used her Abominations against Stella, but Emily still wouldn't give up, not without a fight. I had to use everything I could to go up against her. I also had to avoid looking into her flames, cause that's how she gets you into believing her illusions are that good, through hypnosis." She saw Dana raise her hand up. "Yes, question?" "Yeah, so… your school wars back in the Boiling Isles… are like an actual war? Like, Vietnam and stuff?" Dana asked her. "What was your school's superintendent thinking?!" Nora also asked. "Don't worry, they banned school wars after that," Luz assured them. "Now, where was I? Right, me and Emily fought against one another, as neither of us were giving up. I wasn't gonna allow Tricks to escape from punishment, so we duked it out from magic to a knuckle fist fight! Eventually, we managed to defeat her… but it wasn't since that was when Heinous showed up." "Heinous?" Clara asked. "Her real name turned out to be Meteora, but she was a Fae that was holding one of our friends, Skara, captive," Luz explained. "She was a crazy teacher who turned out to be after me and Amity, sent by some pompous Fae king. Things got a little crazy after that, especially when the Pied Piper showed up…" "The Pied Piper?!" Gus G. asked. "Yeah, but he goes by Sly these days," Luz noted while continuing her story. "Anyway, she tried to attack us and after our Gus rescued Skara, Heinous turned into a dragon and destroyed Glandus in its entirety. But after Amity picked up the Sword of Adam, which Emily had, it gave her a form that looked like a medieval version of a Tokusatsu-superhero. While me and the Pied Piper took on the dragon with guitar magic, Amity slayed her with the sword and Heinous got turned to dust…" "You mean she… killed her?" Nora asked in worry. "No, no, Faes don't really die… well, we didn't know it at the time but then again she was kind of an insane maniac… we did have some counseling after the war," Luz assured her. "From what I've heard, as long as a Fae has their soul intact, they can rejuvenate. But we've been assured that she won't be a problem to us again… however, that Coachman we killed a while back, he's definitely dead, but considering that he was a child-trafficker, no one would miss him." Abigail turned to Camila ."What were you doing during… all of this?" Camila looked down, thinking back to the Owl House siege. "I saw a man die…" At the Brooke home, Amity introduced Ghost to Skara. "Oh wow, she's so cute!" Skara commented as she turned to Amity. "Mind if I take some Penstagram pics with her?" "You're not the only one, so go ahead," Amity encouraged. "Thanks!" Skara replied as she went to get her scroll while Ghost followed her. "She may smell like… canine, but she's friendly," Ghost said as she tailed Skara. Amity smiled before she turned to see… Nina, who had snuck into the living room without being noticed. "You know, I always figured you'd be a cat person," Nina said, smirking. "Uh… thanks, I guess?" Amity asked, not sure if that was a compliment or not. "So where's your girlfriend? Thought she'd be with you since, well, how you two are close…" Nina said while she started watching a game on the mirror. "Oh, she and Eda are visiting family for the time being," Amity answered while looking nervous. Nina sighed. "I know you're nervous around me, I'm used to it," she said while not taking her eyes off of the game. "You don't have to worry about me going all wild-" "No, no it's not you, it's just…" Amity was rubbing her own arm, taking a seat on a chair. "I saw you back at the temple service earlier." "Yeah, no shit, I saw you there too," Nina replied while drinking a bottle of root blood. "So um… what did you think of it?" Amity asked her. "I'm gonna be honest, I'm not a believer," Nina admitted, which surprised Amity. "You… aren't?" Amity asked her. "Yeah," Nina said casually. "I stopped believing in all of the Emperor's bullshit when I was nine." "Why did you… stop believing?" Nina sighed while turning to Amity. "You know how most look down on lycans around here?" Amity nodded, "Well, when I was about little, I saw first hand what these Emperor Coven scouts would do to one of us. One of our neighbors was killed by those coven scout bastards, just for going out when he wasn't supposed to." Amity was shocked. "I'm so sorry you had to see that…" Nina stared at the floor, looking uneasy. "I told my folks about it and they decided to do nothing about it. They blamed the victim for going out, despite what those scouts did… and that was when I stopped believing. I kinda figured that if the Titan let this kind of stuff happen, he either wasn't real or was an asshole. Either way, I stopped believing." "Did you… ever tell your parents about your disbelief?" Amity asked. "All the time, but… they didn't care. None of my family does," Nina admitted. "They thought I was misguided, but at least they didn't ostracize me for not believing in Belos's bullshit." Amity looked down, thinking to herself. "If you don't believe in the will of the Titan, what do you have to believe? Like, does it ever-" She looked up and noticed Nina staring straight at her, which made Amity nervous. "You've been asking a lot of questions…" Nina pointed out, narrowing her eyes at Amity. "Oh, well… I was just… curious, and that's not a cat pun," Amity said while Nina's eyes widened. "Oh shit…" Nina said while looking at Amity. "You too?" Amity paused, hesitating for a moment before sighing. "Yeah… me too." "Whoa, I thought I was the only one." Nina said while looking curiously at Amity. "So… when did you stop believing?" "Honestly, I'm not sure how it started," Amity admitted. "But I do know that I stopped believing in Belos after the petrification ceremony. And eventually that became me not believing in the Titan as well. Like, I've seen first hand physical evidence for other religions. Even Lokitown worships this mysterious witch who, according to Luz, is actually a real god from another realm that she once met! But the Titan… he's just a carcass we live on. It's questionable that Belos is the only person who claims to be able to speak to it, and he's a goddamn liar, so why couldn't he be lying about the Titan?! What if the Titan is dead and we're all just pretending that he cares about any of us just because we evolved from his dead body?" Nina was taken aback by Amity's rant. "Wow… you really had that all in." "Yeah I… have been holding that in," Amity replied. Nina looked at Amity in silence for a moment. "You know that we werecats aren't… native to this Titan?" Amity looked surprised. "You aren't?" "Something my old teacher at the reservations once taught me is that before the Deadwardian-Era, werecats lived elsewhere before moving to the Isles. We didn't always worship the Titan either, we used to worship a cat god," she explained while giving a sigh. "Forget about it. But I understand what you're going through and believe me, you have my sympathy." "Well, thanks, it is nice to at least know that I'm not alone," Amity admitted. "Though, I still don't think I'm ready to tell Luz…" "I'm surprised that someone who bad-mouths Belos as much as she does isn't a non-believer," Nina commented. "Isn't her mom a wild witch?" "They do live in a Titan household, but they don't listen to Belos's lies," Amity pointed out. "Hey Amity!" Skara called out from her room. "I think Ghost got spooked by a bug, and she won't let her claws out of my back!" Amity sighed. "I'm coming!" she said before she turned to Nina. "It was nice talking to you, Nina," she said before she started walking upstairs. "Yeah, same…" Once she turned her head, Nina noticed that Amity's shadow did not move with the rest of her body. This made the werecat witch tense up as she turned around before the shadow noticed her. "What the fuck…" she mouthed, heavily reminded of that crazy teacher she had back at Glandus. Her shadow moved too… Back in Gravity Falls, Luz had brought the teens to the Big Gunz Laser Tag where they were separated into teams. Luz was teamed with Clara and Masha, while Gus G. was teamed up with Rudo and Dana. As the game began, Luz, Clara and Masha stuck together while Gus's team separated. "So you've played this before?" Masha asked. "Yeah, lots of times, though most recently when I brought Amity here on a human date," Luz said while keeping an eye out for their opponents. Clara leaned back, noticing the walls. "Are these… mattresses?" "Yeah, I heard this used to be a mattress store," Luz pointed out while zapping Rudo. "Aw man!" Rudo said as Luz's team scattered. Masha ran around as she zapped at Dana before Gus G. zapped Masha from behind. "Ah, got me, Gordon." "Call me Flash Gordon," Gus responded as he ran across the bridge. "You can run, but you can't hide, Gordon!" Masha declared while chasing Gus. Clara moved through the fog before Gus zapped her armor. "GUS!" "Sorry, just really good at this armor!" Gus shouted as he ran from her before she could zap him. "He got you too?" Masha asked her while Clara nodded. Gus found a place to take cover, checking left and right before continuing on his way. He was doing good so far… until he was suddenly zapped. "What the-!?" Gus looked up to see Luz was the one who got him. "I've avenged my team!" Luz declared from the railing of a bridge. "Never mess with Team LCM!" "Yeah!" Clara and Masha yelled with their fists up like Luz. In the lobby of the place, Camila, Abigail, and Nora sat at a table having drinks while the kids played. "You know, we never had laser tag at Gatesfield… in fact, there's no fun center for the kids other than the church youth groups activities," Nora commented. "Along with some of the school activities during holidays." Camila noticed a lot of people looking at their phones and tablets. "A lot of things have changed since I've been gone," she said while turning to Abigail. "What were you saying about my belongings that was meant to be moved to Minnesota?" "I've been keeping them," Abigail assured her. "They're still in storage back in Connecticut. If you want, I can have them brought over if you want to reclaim some of your old identity." "Thank you, Gail," Camila replied in relief. "We even saved your novels and VHS tapes of Cosmic Frontier that you and Manny had," she said, which surprised Camila. "Cosmic Frontier? I remembered they had a new series back when I was in college," Nora replied. "Cosmic Frontier?!" Camila panicked. "Oh… you found that… heh, that…" Abigail looked confused. "Are you alright, Camila?" "I'm fine!" Camila responded. "It's just… it's kinda hard for me to talk about these things with… other adults my age… not sure most people would be into the stuff I'm in. Like, I'm supposed to be the boring adult that teenagers see as a nuisance until they need me. I don't… want to embarrass Luz if she learns that her mom's a big nerd." She looked at her own drink. "It is… hard enough reconnecting with her as it is." Abigail patted Camila's hand. "Camila, you should share your interests with Luz. Regardless of whether she likes Cosmic Frontier or not, she would appreciate you opening up to her like this. And she would probably like this side of you, to know more about who her mom is as a person and what her interests are." Camila nodded to her. "Yeah, thanks Abigail. I think… I could try." Abigail smiled before looking down at her drink. "It is… still pretty shocking though," "What?" Nora asked her. "It's just… of all the people who found Luz, it had to be Eda. That witch was the one who took and raised my goddaughter, despite you being in an entirely different state. I mean, what are the odds…" "Is it like a destiny thing?" Nora suggested. "Like… a plan from God?" "…" "… That sounds a bit of a stretch," Camila admitted. At the Hand Witch's cave, Eda and her friends were enjoying their drinks. "Gotta say, it's been good to catch up with you bad girls," Eda said as she laid on her hand chair. "Let's talk about the book we were reading the last time I saw you all, of course you girls must've finished it." "Oh we have," Madam Mim said, "We finished it about last month, and that ending was so cliché." "Yeah, I mean, the plot twist with the character's dead childhood friend being alive and the villain?" Hazel asked. "That was what we were waiting for?" "What a rip-off!" the Hand Witch declared. "By the dark seas, deep abyss below," Leota rhymed. "I had predicted that ending long ago!" Eda gave a nod while turning to Magica. "So uh, have you read this book as well?" "No, I don't plan to," Magica said with a scoff as she got up and walked away. "Where's the fridge?" Eda frowned as she leaned over to Mim. "She's not a very sociable witch, is she?" "It takes a while for her to warm up to people," Mim told her.. "Well it looks like I'll give her the old Eda-charm," Eda said as she got up and walked over to Magica. Magica grabbed a bottle and drank from it, wincing. "She doesn't have the strong stuff?" she asked while closing the fridge and seeing Eda. "What do you want… Owl Lady, is it? You don't look like an owl." "So you're from another realm, where humans are animals, right?" Eda asked her. "No shit, Sherlock," Magica grumbled. "Hey, I getcha. Being magicless isn't an easy picnic for me either," Eda said. "But hey, things can turn around once you find that the people close to you matter the most, and make the most of your situation." "Make the most of my situation?" Magica questioned, turning to Eda, "You know why I used to be a dark sorceress?" "Because being bad is fun?" Eda answered. "Well, yes, but I became the dark sorceress to spread fear and chaos amongst the mortals!" Magica declared. "If it wasn't for my arch-nemesis Scrooge McDuck and his bumbling nephews, that damned Della, and that wretched Webbigail, I would've had it all! And no thanks to my traitorous niece!" "Your… niece?" Eda questioned. "Well she's not really my niece, just my shadow that became a real girl after I was sealed in that dime, but she dares trade me for them?! I was her only family she had and this is all the thanks I get?!" Magica declared. "Which is why I'm going to work on a revenge plan against them all! For daring to cross and screw me over-" Suddenly Eda's hand slammed against the fridge, startling Magica. "You know, you're not a very cool witch right now," Eda said while glaring at Magica. "You don't know the importance of family, do you?" Magica glared at Eda. "A witch that values her own family is something unheard of…" "Well you better learn, cause right now I don't think you're hot yourself," Eda told her while turning back and heading toward the entrance of the cave, "Gonna get some steam off, be right back," she told her witch friends as she passed them. Back at Soos's grandma's place, Dipper and Ford continued their game. "Alright," Ford began while moving the dice around his fingers, playing as dungeon master. "You've entered the chamber. Princess Unatainabelle beckons you… But wait! It's a trap!" Dipper gasped as Ford pointed to the character on the DM screen. "An illusion cast by Probabilitor the Annoying!" "You know his weakness, right?" Dipper asked him. "Prime-statistical anomalies over thirty-seven but not exceeding fifty-one!" they said together as they both rolled the dice, checking their results. "Ha! Yes! In your face, you cardboard wizard!" Dipper shouted, pointing to the purple faced, long nose wizard in blue robing and a beard. Ford looked at the artwork of the wizard. "The old boy looks a bit different than he did back in my day," he said. "Mmm, yeah, they change the art every few years," Dipper explained. "Thankfully you missed the period when the creators of the game tried to make it 'cooler'." In the commercial, two nineties teens were spray painting over the art of the DD&MD game. "Man, this game is boring!" one teen declared before suddenly the wall exploded. "You dare challenge Probabilitizle?!" Probabilitor declared, shown to be dressed like a flashy nineties rapper. As rap music played and they started dancing, the title popped up "Diggity Dungeons and All That! Updated for the nine double deuce! Available wherever dope games are sold!" "Peace!" Probabilitizle declared, making a peace sign. Dipper shivered. "Must have been dark times, those nineties." "Yeah, sounds like a good time to be stuck between dimensions," Ford said in agreement. Dipper looked down. "Say, Great-uncle Ford, I've been wondering and meaning to ask you: where were you before you came out of that machine? I know that you've been to the Boiling Isles, but what have you been doing since then? And how did you escape the Isles?" Ford looked down. "There are some things that are best to be left in the past." "What if it's something important? Like a way to-" Dipper suggested. "Ah-ah! But I can show you a little something I brought back with me," Ford interrupted as he dumped out his bag of stuff and grabbed a small, black box. He opened it, showing Dipper what was inside. "Behold, an infinity-sided dice." Dipper saw the glowing, clear white dice with infinite sides. "Whoa… that's so cool. And… impossible!" "These things are outlawed in nine thousand dimensions," Ford explained. "You wanna know why? Look at those symbols. Infinite sides means infinite outcomes. If I roll it, anything could happen. Our faces could melt into jelly, the world could turn into an egg, or you could just roll an eight. This thing has saved my life three times and endangered it around twenty times. Once I rolled it and the sky permanently changed color. Fortunately, that was in the Land of the Blind Dimension. But that is why I have to keep it in this protective cheap plastic case." Then Dipper and Ford's stomachs grumbled. "Whoa, looks like all of that gaming is making us hungry," Dipper said. "Is there anything to eat here?" Ford asked, closing the case as he and Dipper got up. "I think there should be some pizza bagels that Abuelita left out," Dipper said as he and Ford headed for the kitchen, while the case was kept near the cardboard art of the Probabilitor. While they were gone, Soos's grandmother came in and saw the game left out. "Oh those boys, always making a mess," Abuelita said as she began to clean up. She then spotted the black case. "What's this?" she asked as she picked up the case. Out of curiosity, she opened it and saw the glowing die. "What are you doing?!" Ford shouted after coming back, which startled Abuelita, causing her to drop the dice. It hit the ground and rolled across the floor. When it came to a stop, the symbol on it was that of a familiar wizard. A bright flash engulfed the room as appearing before them was Probabilitor along with other characters from the game: an ogre, an elf with a bow and arrow, and a griffin. "Mortals of dimension 46-apostrophe-backslash! Kneel before me and…" He rolled the dice he was holding before he continued. "Snivel! I am Probabilitor! The greatest wizard in all of mathology! Give or take an error of 0.4." "Que?!" Abuelita exclaimed. "Have you come to send us on the quest of a lifetime because we're the smartest players you've ever met?" Dipper asked hopefully. "You are the smartest players I've ever met!" Probabilitor replied to Dipper and Ford before finishing. "That's why I'm going to eat your brains to gain your intelligence. It's what I do." "It's his thing," the ogre added. "WHAT?!" Dipper exclaimed. "Seize them!" Probabilitor ordered. Ford quickly pulled out his blaster from its holster. "Your math is no match for my gun, you idiot!" "Math ray!" Probabilitor shouted, the math wizard's hands firing a spell. Moments earlier, Star and Soos had taken down Toby and Blubs and Star held Vee's hand while raising her sword up in declaration. "Hazar! I have vanquished the elf mage and saved the high priestess! Thanks with the help of Soos the Knightmare!" Star declared. "Oh Star the Liberator, your revolution shall be sung of for generations to come!" Vee replied while in character as she and Star looked at each other. They felt awkward, but there was also something about the moment that just felt… romantic. BOOM! But that moment was interrupted when a hole was made in the back of Soos's house. Probabilitor along with his entourage came out with Dipper and Ford tied up. "Now to the forest, for the ultimate game!" Probabilitor declared as they flew away on the griffin. "What just happened?!" Star exclaimed as Soos rushed over to the house. "Abuelita, are you okay?!" Soos asked her, helping his startled grandmother up. "Estoy bien, pero se llevaron a tu amigo y a su tío!" Abuelita told him. "They took Dipper and Ford!" Soos translated. "What in the world just happened?!" Durland asked. "Just another day in Gravity Falls," Blubs responded, shaking his head. "I'll contact Luz, this is really up her alley," Vee said as she pulled out her phone. At the Gravity Falls local library, Masha, Gus, Rudo and Dana were reading some of the comics there while Luz and Clara hung outside the building to talk in private. "So what is school like back in the… Demon Realm?" Clara asked her. "Well, it's pretty much like the schools here in this realm, I think," Luz replied. "Right now I'm in both the Beast-Keeping and Bard track. Might eventually take other magic tracks as well, but I'm starting slow." "So you do like animal care and music?" Clara asked. "Pretty much," Luz responded. "So what about you? I have been talking a lot about myself today, but what do you like to do back home?" Clara looked down. "Well, I am really into theater and I like cheer-leading, but I don't think you would be interested in hearing about that." "What makes you say that?" Luz asked. Clara sighed. "Well it's just… my life has been relatively dull until recently, and it's probably nothing to you. I lived in boring old Connecticut all my life while you grew up in a world of demons, witches, and magic. I wasn't… sure that you'd be interested in me at all since from everything Willow has told me about you, and from what I've seen, you're so much cooler than me. Meeting you i-is like meeting a teenage girl version of The Rock." Luz just smiled. "Hey, don't sell yourself out, Clara. You're pretty cool as well," she said, patting Clara's shoulder. "Really?" Clara asked her. "I mean, you helped Willow, a complete stranger, find her back to us. In order to do so, you helped her escape from a paramilitary organization and traveled across the country. Just because it was the right thing to do. That's pretty cool in my book," Luz said to her godsister. "And theater and cheer-leading is also cool, especially if that's what you're passionate about. I would love to hear more about that." Clara smiled. "Thanks, Luz. I appreciate that." It was then that Luz's cellphone buzzed and she held it up. "Vee?" she said as she answered it. "What's up? Wait… Dipper and Ford were what?!" Bursting into the library, Luz rushed over to the Gatesfield teens and the adults. "Guys, we have to go, Dipper and Ford were kidnapped by some kind of math wizard!" "What?!" Masha and the others exclaimed. "Wait, math wizard?!" Nora questioned as the adults rose up. "No time to explain, let's go!" Luz shouted as she led them out of the library. Outside of Soos's house, the Nocedas and the Gatesfield residents arrived at a crime scene, as Durland and Blubs had put up police tape while Soos was with his grandmother while Camila walked over to them. "Is everyone alright?" Camila asked. "We're fine, but Dipper and Ford got taken by some math wizard guy who was with an ogre, a griffin, and a pretty faced elf guy," Soos explained. "I was just cleaning up and found a case with a glowing dice, and the next thing I know, some purple guy in a blue bathrobe showed up," Abuelita added. "That kinda sounds like Probabilitor," Luz noted while looking inside the house through the big hole in its side. She spotted the cardboard screen, but noticed that Probabilitor was missing on it, leaving only an outline where he should be. "Are you saying a DD&MD character was brought back to life?!" "That really checks out…" Masha said. "Should we call those agents?" Nora suggested. Luz considered it, but she also realized this would be a chance for her to show off for Clara and her friends. "Maybe as backup, but this is something I think we could handle ourselves," Luz said while turning to Clara and the other teens. "How'd you guys like to go on a classic Luz Clawthorne adventure?" "Yeah/You got it/We're gonna kick butt!" they all said in agreement. "Isn't this kind of dangerous for you kids?" Nora asked, worried. "I'll go with them," Camila volunteered. "Are you sure, mom?" Luz asked her. "I know that you're capable of taking care of yourself, Luz, but I want to make sure that the other kids are kept safe as well," Camila told her. "I should come as well," Abigail said. "My training with the Hunstclan wasn't for nothing, after all." "We're coming too," Vee declared as she and Star came up. "Alright, the more the merrier!" Masha said excitedly, while Clara doesn't look as enthusiastic about Vee joining. "Yeah…" Clara said. "Alright, let's go break some math wizard's legs!" Luz declared as the gang headed out. "I… think I'll sit this one out," Nora admitted. "I don't know how useful I will be against a… math wizard. Gus, please be careful." Gus gave her a nod. "I will, mom," he assured her with a smile as he followed the rest of the group And so the rescue team went deeper into the forest with Luz taking the lead. "Okay, so I figured out what roles we are on this quest," Masha said "Since Star's a barbarian and Vee is the high priestess, I'll be the warlock who practices spells and Gus is obviously the bard." "That checks out," Gus replied. "What about us?" Dana asked for Rudo and Clara. "Well, Dana you're a cleric warrior, Rudo's more of a monk, and Clara… you're the paladin," Masha said. "Paladin… what's that?" Clara asked. "Oh they're like holy knights who cast spells and crusade in the name of good and order," Camila explained. "Oh… a holy warrior then," Clara replied with a smile. "I didn't know you knew about that kind of stuff, Mrs. Noceda." "Wait… you know what Paladin classes are, mom?" Luz asked her. "Oh uh… your father liked to play the game back in college," Camila responded nervously while swatting at herself. "Ah, I think I was bitten by a bug," she said while looking at her hand, realizing it wasn't a bug. "Hey… look… listen." said the small fairy that looked half-dead after being hit by Camila, who winced and quickly shook the fairy off. As they continued on their way, they were suddenly halted by an ogre guard that leapt onto the path and stopped them on their tracks. "Halt!" he declared. "Yon interlopers are trespassing on the ancient forest of Probabilitor the wizard! If ye wish to pass, first, ye must complete seven unworldly quests! Each, more difficult than-" "Ah, shut up!" Luz shouted while using her cambion form to slap the ogre guard across the face, sending him crashing to the ground. He got up as he began to roar, as Star jumped in and removed her glove, blasting the ogre guard with her magic. Luz's scales changed to ice-blue as she cast an ice spell on the orge, thus freezing him. "Whoa, she just iced that guy!" Dana shouted. "She can shoot ice now?" Clara asked Camila. "Yeah, she talked about it non stop after stopping a raid yesterday," Camila responded. "Well that settles the big guy," Luz said. "Yeah," Star nodded while grabbing the ogre's ax. "Let's move on!" As they continued to search for Dipper and Ford, Luz walked alongside Abigail while Camila chatted with Clara behind them. Luz wasn't sure what to say to her godmother, but she did have one question. "So um… Abigail," Luz said. "You mentioned that you were trained under the Huntsclan. Eda told me about them. Apparently they were this cult obsessed with hunting magical creatures and Eda had a few encounters with them. You were really part of the group?" "Yes, that is true," Abigail admitted. "After Angel's… 'passing', my parents decided to send me to the Huntsclan back when they were active. The training was… brutal." "How brutal?" Luz asked her. "We had to train in all kinds of martial arts: kickboxing, judo, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, capoeira, wing chun, etc… I still have some scars from the instructors," she said while rubbing her own knuckles. "The Huntsclan was merciless to the point where they sent unruly students to fight to the death with huge magical creatures in front of an audience." "I'm afraid of what their detention is like…" Luz admitted after learning that. "A literal torture chamber," Abigail said while looking down. "While I went along with the training to learn ways of self-defense, in reality my heart wasn't really it. When is why I flunked out after four horrible years with the Huntsclan. I was kicked out for sparing a unicorn, but quite honestly I was just lucky that I wasn't killed by them on the spot, most likely because of my family's connections. The Huntsclan doesn't tolerate weaknesses like mercy. I was actually quite relieved when I heard they were no more." She stared off into the distance. "Although… during my time with the Hunstclan, I did see Eda again." This shocked Luz. "Really?" "About four years after I was recruited," Abigail admitted. "I was assigned to help find a dragon, but… when I saw Eda was there, I couldn't face her. I doubt that she even recognized me due to the mask I wore. But just the sight of her filled me with fear and panic, since Angel's death was still fresh in my mind…" Luz looked concerned. "Do you… still hate Eda?" Abigail briefly hesitated before answering. "I… do. I don't think I can ever forgive her for what happened that day, even if it is not completely her fault. Some wounds… just never heal. I hope you understand that, Luz." Luz nodded. "Yeah, I think I get it. Just like how I get why my mom hates Lilith." Abigail glanced at Luz before she reluctantly spoke. "And you are… okay with knowing that this woman killed your mother?" Luz hesitated, looking back at Camila to make sure she wasn't listening. "Okay… is probably not the right word. But I have forgiven her and I still want her to be a part of my life… just like I still want Camila in my life. I don't want to be forced to choose." She looked down. "Is it wrong that I want everything?" "No, of course not," Abigail said. "Hey, is that a griffin?" Rudo said as he pointed. Everyone looked up and saw the griffin Probabilitor brought with them flying overhead. "Is it carrying… a goblin?" Dana asked while squinting her eyes. "No, that's Toby Determined," Luz said as she fired a flame spell at the griffin, shooting it down toward the trees. "WAAAAH!" Toby cried out as his fall was prevented, courtesy of Luz catching him while her wings were out. "Thanks, Bat-Luz." "It's no big, Toby," Luz replied as she landed. "You know, that griffin is a lot different than the ones back at the Isles." In another spot of the forest, Dipper and Ford were tied up to a tree while Probabilitor, accompanied by his ogre guards and his hot elf, were preparing to feast their brains once his cauldron was done heating up. "What do we do, what do we do?!" Dipper asked in a panic. "Stop thinking, Dipper!" Ford warned. "The more wrinkly your brain gets, the more he'll want to eat it!" "And now, a little math problem!" Probabilitor declared while walking towards the two, bumping his staff on their heads. "When I subtract your brain and your skulls, add salt, and divide your family, what's the remainder?" "YOUR ASS!" "What?!" Probabilitor questioned. "My ass isn't part of this particular equation!" Crashing through the bushes were Luz along with her companions. "Drat! How did you make it past my one guard?" the math wizard questioned. "Let go of Dipper and the idiot or you get an ass-kicking!" Luz declared. "Wait, am I the idiot?" Ford asked while Luz glared at him. "All I asked for you is to spend time with your nephew, not bring back this wizard from a Jumpstart computer game to life!" Luz told him off. "Hey, this whole thing was an accident!" Ford claimed. "Dipper?" Luz asked, turning to her step-brother. "Great-Uncle Ford showed me an infinity-sided die that has infinite outcomes, which he keeps in a cheap, plastic case," Dipper responded. "Then when it got dropped, it brought the characters in the game to life..." "A cheap-plastic case? You keep something dangerous in something like that?!" Luz exclaimed to Ford. "Does titanium not exist in whatever dimension you were in!?" While Luz and Ford argued back and forth, Probabilitor and his henchmen were left in confusion. Frustrated, he raised his staff and hit the ground with it. "ENOUGH!" he declared, using his staff to get everyone's attention. "If you wish to save them from getting their brains eaten, you have to defeat ME in Dungeons, Dungeons and More Dungeons: REAL LIFE EDITION! HAHAHAHAHA!" "Fine by me, cause after I beat your ass, I'm going to kick Ford's brain out of his head and use it like a football!" Luz said while glaring at Ford, who looked nervous. "Gee, you're one peculiar morbid girl, you know that?" Probabilitor pointed out. "This was supposed to be a day off for me," Luz said as she crossed her arms. "So, do we use pieces and fill out our character sheets?" "Actually, the characters will be," Probabilitor said as he snapped his fingers, his ogre guards appearing on the board that he summoned. "My characters vs…" As he snapped his fingers, Luz, Star, Vee, and the Gatesfield teens all disappeared and reappeared on the board, shrunken. "Yours!" "What?!" Luz cried out, now dressed as a rogue character with a black hood over a gray tunic and black pants and boots. She realized that her black, fingerless glove hands were holding one-shaped daggers. "GAH!" She tried to throw the daggers away, but they were stuck to her hands. "Why can't I let these go?!" "Luz?" Clara asked as she ran up to her while wearing white and blue paladin armor. She was holding a sword with a helm shaped like a number two. "Are you… alright?" Luz shut her eyes and when they reopened, they were both both. "She's… going to be fine, just tagging out." Hearing her voice sounding different as well as seeing her eyes change shocked Clara. "Luz…?" "Name's Maya, actually," Maya responded. "Uh, nice to meet you. I'm kinda a crab that lives in her head." "Wait, what?" asked Gus, who was dressed in a green vest with a white collar button shirt, black belt, gray pants and black boots. He was holding a harp shaped like the number three. "Why is this harp shaped like a number three?" "I think that is part of the game," Vee said while appearing in a white and blue gown with a priestess hood, holding a blue staff with the plus sign on top. "We were casted on by a math wizard." "You gotta be kidding me," Star said while dressed in a brown furred one strap top and skirt, fur boots, and a tiger skin cowl. She was holding the ax while her athletic build body showed some scars. She tried to use her magic, but to her surprise nothing came out of her hand. It was like the rules of the game were preventing her from using outside magic. As for the rest, Masha appeared in a black long gown while holding a crystal ball, Rudo appeared to be dressed as a monk with a large bead necklace, cape and robe, and Dana appeared in metallic red armor suit while holding a hammer and shield. "Kids, are you alright?" Abigail asked them, as she and Camila were the only ones who were not shrunken down. "We're fine mom, but Luz…" Clara said while turning to Maya. "She said there's… a crab in her head." "Oh that's just Maya!" Camila explained. "Maya?" Abigail asked her. "It's a long story, but let's just say Luz has another person living in her head," Camila said. "Hey, are you guys done? I haven't explained the rules yet," Probabilitor said with a grin. "This game is a battle royale, where we help our characters by casting spells determined by rolls of the dice. If you win, I go back to my own dimension and those two smarty pants are free." He pointed to Dipper and Ford. "But if I win, I will eat not only those two's brains, but theirs as well!" "What?!" they all shouted. "And I made sure those two are the players!" Probabilitor said as he pointed to Camila and Abigail. "Since everyone knows that moms don't know how to play a game like this! Always too busy doing our laundry and packing lunches and so forth! Leaving the odds in my favor!" "You did not just say that, hijo de puta," Camila said with a glaring expression, adjusting her glasses as they flashed in the sunlight. "You want me to kick his ass, Camila?" Abigail asked her. "No… let's play his little game," Camila said with a determined look. "Let the games… BEGIN!" Probabilitor declared as he rolled a thirteen. "Attack!" he ordered as his ogres raised their clubs at the eight teens. "Get close to me!" Maya shouted as Clara, Masha, and Gus ran over to her. When they were confronted by one ogre, Maya used the daggers to cut his ankle and then stab at his arms, making him drop his club. "How do we defeat these things?!" Gus asked. "I think we need them to cast spells!" Masha shouted, pointing up to Camila and Abigail. "I cast… a subatomic-particle divider spell on Masha, Clara, and Vee!" Camila shouted as she rolled the dice and got a high enough roll. Masha's crystal ball shot out a blue ray that scattered the ogre's particles. "Whoa, awesome!" Clara held up her sword as it also zapped away one ogre. When another came behind her, Vee shot the ogre with her staff and made him disappear. "You alright?" Vee asked. "Yeah! Thanks to Ms. Noceda!" Clara commented. "Really?" Maya asks while looking up at Camila, one of Luz's eyes returning. "Mom?" "WHAT? But… how's that possible?!" Probabilitor exclaimed, turning to Camila. "You two are just moms!" After a whisper from Camila, Abigail nodded. "I cast on Luz for her daggers to change into spell blasters that fire transformation spells, and for Star and Dana's weapons to have increased holy blessing from the high priestess Vee." She rolled a high number, which got Luz's daggers to be changed into blasters, allowing her to shoot at the ogres. Luz took back control, feeling better as she turned the ogres into butterflies. "Whoa, mom, this is a bit sci-fi, don't you think?" "Blasters, subatomic-particles…" Ford wondered as his eyes widened. "Hold up, only certain fans would make this sort of stuff, sci-fi fans!" "That's right," Camila said as she adjusted her glasses. "Manny isn't the only nerd in the family, I used to play a home-brew version of this game… with Cosmic Frontier characters!" "A Cosmy?! She's a Cosmy?!" Ford exclaimed in shock. "A what?" Dipper asked. "That's what we nerd circles call fans of Cosmic Frontier, I never would've guessed that she was one," Ford explained. "Don't call us Cosmies, we prefer to be just Frontiers!" Camila told Ford off with a pissed look. "And she got me into playing a few games with her and Manny," Abigail said with a smile. "Good times." "Whoa… my mom's a secret nerd?" Luz said in shock. "How did I not see this coming?!" Probabilitor asked himself. "Nevermind that, I still have the upper hand!" He rolled the dice. "Anti-subatomic-particle divider shields!" All the remaining ogres had shields to prevent them from zapping out of existence. "All characters' power increase through Gus's thunder-guitar!" Camila shouted as she rolled the dice. Gus's harp was changed into a guitar with thunderbolts. "Whoa, sweet!" he declared as he began to play, which increased everyone's powers. "This calls for a battle song, Double-G!" Luz declared while holding her blasters. Gus nodded as he thought up a song to play while he strung his guitar. "She's a rebel, she's a saint! She's salt of the earth, and she's dangerous!" Luz blasted each ogre while dodging their attacks as Clara sliced one with her sword. Star jumped up, slicing one's head off with her ax while Dana smashed another with her hammer. "She's a rebel! Vigilante! Missing link on the brink of destruction!" Gus shot lightning bolts which disintegrated some ogres. "From the Human to Demon Realm, she's the one they call old whatsername!" Rudo used his monk powers to block the ogre's powers while Masha worked with Vee to cast spells against them. "She's the symbol of resistance, and she's holding on our hearts like a hand grenade!" "No! Drat you!" Probabilitor declared. "No matter, you'll never outrun my Ogre-nado!" He rolled the die and summoned a tornado made out of ogres. "It is what it sounds like!" "Anything?!" Clara asked the moms as Camila rolled the dice. "All characters get jetpack wings!" Camila declared as everyone got jetpacks with large bat wings, allowing them to fly around the ogre-nado. "Cast spell to increase weapon damage!" Abigail shouted as she rolled the dice and all the teens started attacking the ogre-nado, which knocked some of the ogres from it. Gus continues to sing. "Is she dreaming- what we're thinking? Is she the mother of all bombs gonna detonate!" He zapped some ogres out of the ogre-nado while Luz, Vee, and Masha kept blasting. "Is she trouble? I'm we're trouble! Make it double, twist of fate, or a melody that she sings the revolution, the dawning of our lives! She brings this liberation that I can't can't define, nothing comes to mind!" They all continued to attack the ogre-nado up until Luz blasted the last ore in it. "She sings the revolution, the dawning of our lives! She brings this liberation that I just can't define, nothing comes to mind!" Gus strummed his guitar as they landed amongst the downed ogres. Said ogres disappeared, the team cheering their triumph. "We did it!" Clara high-fived Luz and then went to hug Masha, but stopped herself and turned away. "W-We did real good teamwork, did we?" "Sure did, Clara, and you were really impressive as a Paladin," Masha replied, which made Clara smile. "Fools! This game isn't over yet!" Probabilitor declared as a huge misshapen flying beast appeared, cornering the teens. "Cause I've been saving the worst for last!" "Oh no!" Dipper shouted in realization. "The Impossibeast?!" Camila exclaimed. "I thought they banned this character!" "Hahaha! Think again!" Probabilitor declared. "I'm playing the controversial 1991-1992 edition!" "Is there a way to defeat this beast?!" Star asked while holding her ax. "No, this character was banned for a reason," Ford told them. "It's the most powerful creature in the game! He can only be defeated by rolling a perfect thirty-eight! But the odds of that are very slim!" "You cheating creep!" Clara called the math wizard out. "Yeah, this isn't fair to us!" Masha added. "Hey, I'm just the dungeon master, my game, my rules!" Probabilitor declared with a crackle. "Hmm, looks like this is a Jordan-16 scenario," Camila said with a serious look. "A Jordan-16? What in the equation of Pi is that?" Probabilitor asked before he noticed that Abigail was missing. "Hey, where's the other-AAH!" Abigail suddenly appeared behind him, pinning him to the ground and painfully twisting his arm behind his back. "Ack! What the divided by zero, lady?!" "You see, a Jordan-16 is considered a no-win scenario in Cosmic Frontier," Camila explained to the math wizard "The only way to beat it is to change the conditions of the test. In this case, I had a feeling that you would try something. But I also knew that the only way Gail would be able to slip around you unnoticed was if you were too distracted by your game, which is why I played along until Gail got her chance." Probabilitor remembered when Camila had whispered to Abigail earlier in the game. He opened his mouth to protest, but instead Abigail twisted his arm again. "ACK!" he cried in pain. "Not to mention you would exhaust your forces on the game, leaving you more exposed," Abigail said while she pressed her boot against his shoulder. "If you wish to not get your arm snapped in two, I suggest you forfeit the game," she said while increasing the pain. Probabilitor winced in pain, looking at the game and then at Camila. "I… I… okay, okay! I forfeit the game! You win!" The elf who was reading the rule book nodded. "The game is over… like, whatever," he said. The teens returned to their normal size and selves as the board disappeared. Ford and Dipper were now freed. "Whoo, yeah!" Gus declares as Rudo and Dana cheered. "That was the b to the omb!" Masha declared while hugging Clara, who blushed. Vee and Star both cheered as they hung their arms around each other, while Luz went up to hug her mom and Abigail. "Thanks, you two! You two are the MVP of this game!" Luz declared, making both the women smile. "No!" Probabilitor declared as he began to disappear. "I'm returning to my own realm! I'm turning into pure math! What are the oooooooooddddsss…" he cried out as he along with the elf disappeared. While they headed back, everyone talked about what had just happened. "I just want to apologize for what happened today," Ford said to everyone before turning to his nephew. "Especially you, Dipper. And not just about this Probabilitor mess. I'm sorry about neglecting your needs, especially considering that I am your guardian and you are my responsibility. This whole thing is new to me and while my work is important… you're important as well. I hope that… you'll find it in your heart to forgive me." Dipper looked up at Ford with a small smile. "I forgive you, Grunkle Ford. Plus, it was still fun to play DD&MD with someone, so thank you for that." "Yeah, and hey, maybe we can play more of it in the future… just without the presence of my infinite-sided die… or any of my multi-dimensional junk," Ford suggested. "Yeah, I would like that," Dipper said, nodding. "And I promise to spend more time with you as well," Ford promised with a nod. Luz was talking to her mom with an excited look. "So all this time, you've been a secret nerd about Cosmic Frontier?!" Camila smiled. "Well, I did have a lot of trouble growing up, since nobody cared about my interests," she admitted. "But Abigail is right, I should be more open to you about my interests. I guess I just didn't want you to think that I wasn't a cool mom like Eda." "Hey, there can be two cool moms in my life, Mami," Luz pointed out. "And I'm fine with you being this supercool sci-fi nerd mom. That Cosmic Frontier stuff honestly sounds really cool and maybe it's something you can share with me in the future." "Yeah, I would like that," Camila said, touched. She did have to admit it was fun to play some DD&MD for the first time in years. It reminded her of who she was before Luz was born… and she wouldn't mind reconnecting with that older side of her some more. "I'll be sure to send all of your old Cosmic Frontier stuff, including your VHS tapes," Abigail told Camila. "Why not catch it on streaming?" Rudo asked. "I mean, it's up along with Star Trek." "Yeah, now that I think about it, that board game does sound similar to Dungeons and Dragons…" Dana commented. "Nope, it's not similar at all," Ford said, shutting it down. "Definitely not." "Yeah, and Cosmic Frontier is nothing like Star Trek," Camila added, offended. "Don't even mention them in the same breath." Clara walked up to Luz. "So… about this… Maya…" Luz looked at her godsister and sighed. "Well… I was gonna plan to tell you guys eventually, but given the circumstances." She shut her eyes and reopened them as Maya took over. "Hey, it's Maya." "So wait, are you Luz or Maya?" Rudo asked. "It's a whole thing," Maya explained. "I was a Palisman, which is like a witch familiar. Luz was trying to save me and the other Palismen from the Emperor's Coven, but then I broke. She tried to fix me, but… accidentally sucked my soul into her. Since then, I've been sharing a body with her since shas been making an effort to work this out for both of us. In a way, I'm kinda like the, um, Hulk to her Banner." "So you're like, her more lethal protector?" Masha indicated. "So you came out when Luz saw she was holding daggers…" Clara pointed out. "She has aichmophobia," Maya told her. "An intense fear of knives and sharp objects. She got it during the school war, since she may have left a few parts of that story out with… reasons." All looked at her in sympathy as Abigail walked over. "I'm so sorry that happened to you, both of you." "You guys have been through a lot," Gus said. Luz came back and sighed. "Yeah I wanted, you guys see me as this… cool bad girl from another world, but really at the end of the day, I'm just a scared fourteen year old girl who can turn into a scaly reptile bat-crab hybrid… and my life is stressful as hell." "Hey, we get ya," Masha told her. "We all have been through a lot of crap in our lives, even though we're young." "We may not have not fought in school wars or against the forces of evil like you have," Gus said. "But it doesn't mean we don't understand how you feel, even if we can't relate to the cause." "It is okay to be vulnerable, Luz," Clara said while patting her shoulder. "I promise not to think any less of my cool godsister just because she has a fear of knives or has another… soul living inside of her body. I'm still glad that I got to know you better and it's nice to meet Maya… though would she technically count as your Palisman?" Luz smiled before Maya spoke. "Well, we Palismen do vow to help our companions with their needs… though, I don't know if…" Maya shook her head, leaving a confused Luz. "Maya, you alright?" 'I'm fine, just… need some time to think,' Maya told her. "Everything alright?" Vee asked Luz. "Yeah, Maya's just retreating for the day," Luz said as they came out of the woods and approached Soos's home, Nora spotting them. "Gus! Kids!" Nora rushed over to hug her son/ "Thank god, you're all alright!" "I'm okay, mom!" Gus replied, hugging her back. "We kept them safe like we promised," Luz said as Soos's grandmother showed up. "Glad you're all alright," she said while holding up a plate "Now who wants dinosaur cookies?" "Oh, we like some!" Masha raised her hand up as all the teens climbed inside the house through the hole that was still there. Once they were inside, Ford found his infinity-sided dice, picked it up, and placed it back into his case. "I'm going to put this somewhere safe." He then heard Luz clears her throat, making him more nervous. "Well… in a much more protective and stronger material, of course." And so after a long journey, everyone had themselves some dinosaur cookies. "Oh man, I forgot how good these cookies are," Luz commented. "Yeah, I can't remember the last time I even ate a proper cookie!" Camila added, wondering if she could ask for the recipe. "Luz, Camila," Abigail said. "I need to speak with you both… in private." Luz and Camila shared a look before they nodded and got up, following Abigail to another room. "This is something I've been meaning to tell you all day," Abigail said as she took a deep breath. "Something that I've already told Nora… about what really happened in Gatesfield on the day that Manny Noceda died." Camila's eyes widened as well as Luz's. Luz looked to her mom and immediately grabbed her hand. "What happened to… dad?" she asked, ready to hear what Abigail had to say. Abigail shut her eyes as she began to recount. "Now I only know about this from second-hand information. Luz, your father was contracted to work with Department A as part of a team of engineers they had put together. The project he was involved in… was the creation of a portal. Not too different from the one underneath the Mystery Shack." Camila was silent, so Luz spoke for her. "What kind of portal?" "I think… they hoped to use the portal to access the Demon Realm," Abigail explained. "But during their testing of the portal, things went horribly wrong. When they tried to open the portal, it became unstable and they were forced to destroy it before it caused… irreparable harm." She looked down with an expression of sadness and guilt. "Apparently… Manny Noceda died in the explosion that destroyed the portal and that explosion, along with the fire that resulted from it, killed many others, including Nora's husband Luke… and my brother Joseph." Both Luz and Camila were silent for a moment as they let that information sink in. "So… how much did dad know about the true mission of Department A?" Luz asked while holding Camila's hand tightly. "You don't have to worry about him being complacent," Abigail reassured them. "Manny, Luke, and the other engineers had no idea what Department A really made them sign up for. They kept many of the people working for them in the dark while forcing them to sign non-disclosure forms. But they did have them believe that they were working for the betterment of mankind. They did not know the full picture…." This flooded Luz and Camila with relief. "Thank you, Gail. For telling us this," Camila said. Abigail nodded to them. "It's the least I could do… for my family." At the Hand Witch's Mountain, everyone was saying their goodbyes. "Well, I should head back," Eda said as she shook the Hand Witch's… hands. "Nice catching up with you girls. See you later?" "Next time, we'll be reading this new book: Romancing the Sorcerer's Stone," the Hand Witch said while holding up the book. "It was nice seeing you again, Eda," Madam Mim said. "Yeah, don't be a stranger!" Witch Hazel waved. "And tell your kids to have a wicked day!" "Have safe travels, hardship will come," Leota told her. "When we meet again, we'll have some good fun." Eda nodded. "Later, my witchy crew!" she said as she began to walk toward the entrance of the cave, giving high fives to each of the disembodied hands. She then spotted Magica leaning against the wall near the entrance of the cave. "So… not saying anything before I go?" Magica shut her eyes while crossing her arms. "I used… to have someone I cared about," she admitted, which surprised Eda. "He was my twin brother and he was the more practical of the two of us. We were a team until Scrooge came along and…" She looked down and a shred of vulnerability was almost shown. "I blame Scrooge for what happened to him, but I also blame myself for losing him." She looked up at Eda. "You have no idea of the pain I had to go through. But perhaps one day you will when vengeance consumes your entire life and you experience the same pain as I did. Loss takes you down very dark paths…" Eda just nodded. "Yeah… right. Later, and… good luck with your nemesis," she said as she walked out of the cave, leaving Magica to look down at herself. "Yeah, good luck to you as well, Edalyn," Magica replied. Back in town, Luz and Camila were saying their goodbyes as they waited for Eda. "It was good to see you again, Luz," Dipper said as Luz hugged him. "Next time, we'll definitely find time to spend together," Luz promised. After the hug, she gave the Gatesfield teens each a fist bump "And it was great to see you guys again. Maybe next time, I'll have Willow come with me." "I would love to see her again," Dana said. "Yeah, but it was nice to just meet and hang around with ya," Masha said. "Just don't be a stranger," Rudo told her. "And keep on rockin' in the Bard Track," Gus G. added. Clara fists bumped Luz. "Just try to stay out of trouble, okay?" "I wish, godsis, but trouble always seems to find me anyway," Luz said with a smile before she turned to Abigail. For a moment, she looked unsure what to do. But then she held her fist um. "You, uh, know how to do this? Abigail nodded as she formed a fist and bumped it against Luz's. "Just be careful out there, alright, Luz? And take care of your mother." Luz nodded. "I promise to come by and visit more, I had a great time with you guys and getting to know my godfamily more." "We love getting to know you more too, Luz," Clara responded. "Oh, and tell Maya thank you for keeping you safe." Luz nodded. "I'll let her know that." Vee and Star gave each other a hug. "I had a great time with you, Star," Vee said. "Yeah, I had fun playing FCLORP with ya too, Vee," Star replied. "You, uh, made a pretty priestess." She stopped herself, blushing. "I mean a pretty good priestess! Pretty good!" Vee just giggled, her face showing a bit of red. Camila and Abigail hugged each other. "I promise to have your old belongings brought here." Abigail told her. "Thank you, Gail," Camila replied, patting her back. "For everything." She turned to Nora and shook her hand. "And it was nice meeting you, Nora. Honestly, it was really nice to just spend some time with my fellow moms." Nora nodded and smiled. "It was." Eda finally made it back at their location. "Alright, I'm back!" Eda declared before noticing Abigail glaring at her. She nodded. "Gail." "Eda," Abigail said, her tone icy as Eda turned away from her. "Well come on, everyone," Eda said as she opened the portal door. "Time to head back, I had a good time with my friends and I see you guys had some fun as well." "We had to fight a math wizard," Luz said before she turned to wave. "Later, Gatesfield teens!" "Goodbye/See-ya/Take care!" They all waved as they watched Luz, Camila, Star, and Eda returning to the Demon Realm. Once they were gone, Dipper and Vee went home while the Gatesfield residents began to make their way back to the motel "It was nice hanging out with your godsister," Masha told Clara. "She's pretty awesome." "Yeah, I hope to see her band one day," Gus said. "It was the Bard Beast Girls, right?" Clara just smiled. "Yeah, Luz is a pretty great sis, isn't she?" Back in the Boiling Isles, Luz spotted Amity after returning to the Owl House. "Hey, how was hanging with your godfamily?" Amity asked. "Pretty great! We even had to fight a math wizard!" Luz replied. "Oh, and Amity, there's something I've learned about Mami that you should know!" She patted Camila's back. "Well, it was something that I was shy about admitting…" Camila said while Star walked past them to the bathroom. After washing her hands in the sink, Star looked at her reflection. She blinked and suddenly in the mirror she once again saw the familiar face of the being known as Glossaryck. "Gah!" she shouted as she took a step back. She glared at the reflection. "You… why do you keep doing this?" The reflection said nothing. "Stop looking at me! I know what I did… but I can't change that now!" "Star? Are you alright in there?" asked someone from the hallway Star looked at the bathroom door and went to open it, revealing King with Maurice on his shoulder standing outside. "I heard you shouting and… was wondering if you're… okay?" King asked her in concern. Star sighed. "I'm fine," she responded before she walked past him and went to turn herself in for the night, leaving King to look at Maurice in confusion. At the hangout of Mel's gang, Trini came inside and passed the others as Mel looked up at her. "You're late, Trini," Mel said as Trini walked up to her. "You better have them." "Oh, I got it," Trini said while pulling out some photos. "See for yourself." Mel snatched the photos and looked them over with her eyes widened. She smiled. "Now this… we can stir up a lot of drama with these…" Trini smirked. "Can't wait." Underneath the Mystery Shack, Ford placed the infinity-sided dice in a titanium case that he locked up. "With the portal dismantled now, we won't have to worry about it being further compromised," Powers said as Ford turned to them. "Yes, yes, of course," Ford replied while turning to the agents. "Though there are other things we have to worry about… like that rift created by the instability of the machine. At least we contained it… for now." He sighed and shook his head. "You guys wouldn't believe the day I had." "In this town, we'll believe anything," Trigger replied while Ford and the agents walked away. Nearby the dice were other objects that were sealed and locked up. A contained dimensional rift was in one case and in another… was a light blue and green capsule of artificial blood. Above the case was a label: SYNTHETIC TITAN'S BLOOD.
