Kitana's first appearance was in the second Mortal Kombat tournament. She was introduced as Shao Kahn's daughter and personal assassin. However, she appeared every now and then to assist the defenders of Earthrealm in secret. Her true feelings and alignment were a mystery but were revealed to the Earthrealm warriors during the tournament. She was not really the daughter of Shao Kahn, but in fact his stepdaughter; she was adopted by Kahn to strengthen his claims to the Edenian throne after he killed its king, Jerrod, and married Jerrod's wife, Queen Sindel, who were Kitana's parents. 9,000 years later, Kahn instructed newly corrupted Earthrealm Mortal Kombat tournament fighter Shang Tsung to create a twin for Kitana; the monstrous Mileena, who was actually a grotesque and evil clone of Kitana.

Kitana grew up dutifully loyal to Shao Kahn, whom she believed was her real father. She was raised to be one of Shao Kahn's personal assassins, alongside her good friend Jade and her evil "sister" Mileena. Upon learning the truth about her past, she continued to feign loyalty to Kahn whilst planning and waiting for the right time to turn against him openly.

Mortal Kombat II[]

Kitana's chance finally came during Mortal Kombat II, when Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung lured Earth's heroes into Outworld. Kitana entered the tournament, but secretly began to contact one of Earth's heroes (most likely Liu Kang) trying to help them defeat Kahn. However, Kitana's efforts were discovered by her clone Mileena. Mileena attacked her traitorous "sister," forcing Kitana to defend herself. She defeated and killed Mileena, and in so doing revealed that she was no longer loyal to Shao Kahn.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3[]

The Earthrealm warriors escaped from Outworld, but Kitana was imprisoned and sentenced to death for killing Mileena. However, after Sindel's resurrection and Shao Kahn's subsequent invasion of Earthrealm, she managed to escape and rejoin her friends from Earth. Her only purpose was to save the resurrected Sindel and remove the evil taint in her soul.

Kitana also had to contend with her friend Jade, who was sent by Kahn to capture her. Kitana managed to convince her to turn against Kahn and join the forces of good. Jade then helped the Princess defeat Reptile, another assassin sent by Kahn to capture Kitana. Eventually, Kitana reached through to her mother and freed her from Kahn's grasp. Shao Kahn's reign over Earthrealm was short-lived, as he and his elite forces were ultimately defeated. In the wake of these events, Kitana and Sindel freed Edenia as well. Before leaving Earthrealm, Kitana thanked Liu Kang for all he had done.

Mortal Kombat Gold[]

Earthrealm had barely recovered from its violent merger with Outworld, however, as a new threat presented itself in the form of Shinnok. He and his grand vizier Quan Chi invaded Edenia from the forbidden Netherrealm and imprisoned its legitimate rulers.

No novice to escaping from prisons, Kitana broke loose once more, only to encounter a resurrected Mileena now in the service of Shinnok. She defeated Mileena in battle before locking her in a jail cell in the prisons of the Edenian Palace. The forces of darkness were soon defeated by Raiden and his comrades, and Edenia was free once more. It is after these events that Kitana finally proposed to Liu Kang and offered to rule Edenia together as King and Queen. Liu Kang reluctantly denied her offer, saying his place was as Champion of Earth.

After Shinnok's defeat, Kitana learned that Shao Kahn had survived his defeat in Earthrealm and was trying to regain his strength in Outworld. Realizing the vulnerable position of her realm, however, Kitana hastily formed an alliance with the Shokan, a powerful and ancient race that had fallen in disgrace with the weakened Emperor. Having mediated a peace accord between the two mortal enemies of Shokan and Centaur after Shinnok's defeat, Kitana and her forces prepared for battle.

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance[]

The combined armies, led by Prince Goro and Kitana herself, marched against Outworld's armies a few years later, with much initial success. However, in the decisive moments, Goro was mortally wounded by the mysterious Noob Saibot, ending the battle with a draw.

Shortly thereafter, Kitana learned that Shao Kahn had been slain by unknown assassins. Thinking her fight was finally over, Kitana began to journey back to Edenia, hoping she could finally live in peace. However, she then encountered her old ally Kung Lao and he told her of a new threat: the "Deadly Alliance" of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung. Kung Lao told Kitana of the Deadly Alliance's plans to revive the Undead Army of the legendary Dragon King and how they had already managed to kill Shao Kahn and Liu Kang. These revelations not only left Kitana devastated, but also heartbroken.

Despite Kitana's grief upon learning of Liu Kang's death at the hands of the Deadly Alliance, she joined with her old Earthrealm allies against the new threat. Unfortunately, the Deadly Alliance was victorious, defeating the heroes with Kitana herself (despite her new and improved skills gained from training with Bo' Rai Cho) killed in a one-on-one battle with Quan Chi. However, shortly after, Kitana and her allies were resurrected by Onaga, the legendary Dragon King himself. Onaga then put a powerful spell on them, turning them into his loyal servants. Now loyal to the Dragon King, Kitana assisted in Onaga's invasion of her own realm of Edenia.

Mortal Kombat: Unchained[]

Onaga used Kitana to kidnap her mother Sindel, knowing the queen would not fight her daughter. However, Sindel was rescued by Jade, and together they fled to Outworld where they attempted to find a way to defeat Onaga and free Kitana from his evil influence. Unknown to Kitana, Liu Kang's spirit returned from beyond death and had found himself a new ally and friend Ermac, and the two as well embarked on a mission to save their allies.

True to Ermac's Deception ending, which shows him and Liu Kang's spirit being successful in rescuing the enslaved Earthrealm warriors, Kitana is released from Onaga's control.

Mortal Kombat: Armageddon[]

At that time, while she made her way back to Edenia, she encountered Blaze, who told her of a coming new danger that will threaten all the realms and that she must gather her forces to face it. Weary of constant battle, Kitana felt disheartened, wondering if the fighting would ever end. However, Blaze assured her that the wars would soon be over. Following this warning, Kitana returns in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, fighting alongside Edenia. She is first seen fighting Kano and gains the upper hand. However, she was knocked away by Kintaro. Kitana is later seen in the background fighting Reptile. She was killed during the final battle.

Mortal Kombat 9[]

Kitana serves alongside her bodyguard, Jade, as one of Shao Kahn's most trusted assassins during the Mortal Kombat tournament. After initially watching the tournament unfold at Shang Tsung's side and after a failed attempt at stopping Sonya Blade from prematurely leaving the tournament, she later attempted a surprise attack on Liu Kang before the young monk could reach the tournament finals. Defeated by him, she begged that he take her life for her failure, but Liu Kang refused to do so in hopes that they would meet under different circumstances. After Shang Tsung's defeat, Kitana gazes at Liu Kang from the distance in a fond manner before returning to Outworld.

After Shang Tsung invites Raiden and his allies to the second Mortal Kombat tournament in Outworld, Kitana is sent by Shao Kahn to hunt down the Lin Kuei warriors who trespass in his realm. She confronts Smoke in the Wastelands but is defeated by the ninja. Whilst fighting in Kahn's tournament, she defeats a Shaolin Monk from Earthrealm, who pleads with her to kill him for his failure. Remembering her conversation with Liu Kang, Kitana hesitates, despite Shao Kahn's orders to kill him. Kahn himself murders the warrior, before Sub-Zero demands from him a battle with Scorpion. This bold request (the fact that the Lin Kuei disturbs the tournament by brazenly appearing and taking away Sub-Zero in exchange for the Lin Kuei's loyalty) results in Kitana being reprimanded by the Emperor for her failing to successfully hunt down the Lin Kuei, and it also results in her being scolded by Jade.

After Jade leaves her to collect her thoughts, Kitana is approached by Raiden and his warriors. Alone, she overpowers and defeats both Smoke and Johnny Cage but is stopped from delivering a killing blow by Raiden who speaks to her in regard to her conscience, noting that both himself and Liu Kang can sense that she is at conflict with herself. He encourages Kitana to seek the truth by going to Shang Tsung's Flesh Pits, a place where she is forbidden by the Emperor to go to. As Kitana makes her way through the Living Forest towards the Flesh Pits, Jade reveals herself and pleads to Kitana to turn back by order of the Emperor. Kitana refuses and knocks her friend unconscious before she proceeds onwards.

Within the Flesh Pits, Kitana finds the newly created body of Mileena, who awakes by greeting her "Sister." Startled, Kitana calls her a monstrosity, and they fight, with Kitana emerging the victor. She then proceeds to attack Shang Tsung and defeats him as well before dragging him before Shao Kahn and informing him of Mileena's creation. To her shock, however, Shao Kahn congratulates Shang Tsung, apparently aware of Shang Tsung's experiments. He bluntly informs Kitana of her true father's death at his hands and of her former realm which he had taken as his own, before having her escorted away to be executed. Shao Kahn then demands his "true daughter", Mileena, to be brought before him.

Though Jade is successful in reaching her in Shao Kahn's Tower, Kitana urges her friend to go to Raiden for his aid before she too is also captured. Upon hearing of her situation, Kung Lao and Liu Kang attempt to rescue her, however she had since been relocated to the Coliseum where she was to be executed publicly. Liu Kang frees her from her shackles just moments after Shao Kahn murders Kung Lao, before avenging Kung Lao's death and defeating Shao Kahn. It is after this event that both herself and Jade join forces with Raiden and his allies.

After Quan Chi successfully manages to restore Shao Kahn back to health, he also revives Kitana's mother, Queen Sindel, which results in the magical ward her suicide created to protect Earthrealm dissolving. After Motaro is killed by Raiden, the bewitched Sindel offers to finish his job and go after the Earthrealm warriors. Imbued with Shang Tsung's power, Sindel confronts her daughter and her allies just moments after a battle with the Lin Kuei. She quickly defeats and kills most of Kitana's new friends before her eyes, before brutally attacking her daughter. Defeated, Kitana pleads with her mother to remember her rule in Edenia before Shao Kahn's invasion. Sindel refutes her comments however, claiming Kitana is no longer her daughter after turning on the Emperor and embracing a pathetic cause. She attempts to drain the life out of Kitana before being interrupted and challenged by Nightwolf.

After sacrificing himself to defeat the Queen, both Nightwolf and Sindel's bodies dissolve as Raiden and Liu Kang return to their comrades. In her last few moments alive, Kitana agrees with Liu Kang that she wishes they had met under different circumstances. She dies whilst holding his hand, which results in Liu Kang rebelling against Raiden. Desperate, Raiden begs Quan Chi in the Netherrealm to assist him in fighting Shao Kahn, offering not only his own soul but the souls of all fallen during the invasion to the Sorcerer in exchange for his services. Quan Chi laughs, revealing that the souls of all the fallen already belong to him. Kitana's soul, now bound to Quan Chi, is one of the warriors the sorcerer orders to attack the Thunder God. She remarks that Raiden has sealed their fate to this place before attacking him with Nightwolf and Kung Lao. She is defeated along with the others.

Mortal Kombat X[]

Twenty-five years later, Kitana is still a revenant serving Quan Chi. Alongside Sindel, Kung Lao, and Liu Kang, she makes up his primary team of enforcers. Jax, restored to life and goodness, comments with dismay that Kitana seems to enjoy being a revenant. She replies that he is right, as she is no longer a victim.

She is later seen talking to D'Vorah as the revenants have been tasked with guarding the Sky Temple. They are then ambushed by the special forces team lead by Cassie Cage, Kitana and her fellow revenants fight Jacqui Briggs and Takeda as Cassie and Kung Jin go to fight Shinnok and rescue Johnny Cage.

After Quan Chi is slain by Scorpion and Shinnok is defeated by Cassie Cage, Kitana becomes the Empress of the Netherrealm, ruling alongside Liu Kang. Raiden, corrupted by his restoration of the damaged Jinsei, deposits the fallen Elder God's severed head at their feet and warns them not to threaten Earthrealm.

Mortal Kombat 11[]

Part 1: Mortal Kombat 11[]

Kitana been further corrupted by Shinnok's influence and planned to invade Earthrealm. After Raiden and the Special Forces destroy the Bone Temple in the Netherrealm, she and Liu Kang ally themselves with the keeper of time, Kronika, who plans on creating a new timeline without Raiden in it.

Through the power of Kronika's sands of time, the past Kitana is transported to the present timeline along with the other kombatants. After a fierce fight in Kotal Kahn's arena, she congregates with the other "good" kombatants after D'Vorah transports the "bad" kombatants to her hive. She and Jade stay in Outworld to aid Kotal against Shao Kahn. Once the fight was over, Kitana exchanges a few words with Liu Kang and hugs him goodbye before he returns to Earthrealm with Kung Lao and Raiden. She is instructed to seek out and recruit Sheeva, as her armies would prove useful to assist Kotal against Shao Kahn. While learning the news of Jade and Kotal’s capture by Shao Kahn’s forces however, Kitana, Liu Kang and Kung Lao must first confront Baraka, whose Tarkatan warriors are claimed by Sheeva as a necessary requirement for her to join their cause.

In order to infiltrate the Tarkatan camps, Kitana acts as a prisoner taken by a disguised Liu Kang and Kung Lao, though Skarlet easily sees through the Shaolin monks' deception, leading to a battle between them which results in Kitana's victory. Liu Kang and Kung Lao rescue Jade, who then sadly inform how she and Kotal were captured, but the four are confronted by Baraka and his squad of Tarkatans. Kitana battles Baraka and wins, convincing him that it would be better to be Kotal's trusted ally than the slave of Shao Kahn, in order to reconcile their future relations with Kotal.

With the support of both Sheeva and Baraka, including Erron Black’s present-self, Kitana and her allies storm the arena to save Kotal from execution. Kitana rushes to confront Shao Kahn before he can kill Kotal. "Father" and "daughter" exchange words before clashing and Kitana besting the mighty konqueror in the finale. Kitana then vows to the defeated tyrant that she will not inherit Shao Kahn's cruelty. Then she removes his helm off his face, slashes his eyes with her fan blade, defeating the tyrant, much to the Shaolin’s pridefully surprises in relief. With Shao Kahn's defeat, she tells Kotal that his throne is secure. However, due to Kotal being fatally crippled by Shao Kahn in that battle, he appoints Kitana as the new Empress of Outworld. Now Kitana Kahn, she unites the forces of Outworld against Kronika.

However, the revenant version Kitana still allied herself with Kronika, along with the revenant forms of Kung Lao and Jade. The past Kitana would later lead the Outworld armies in the final battle against Kronika along with Raiden's allies. Liu Kang, having achieved Fire God status, goes with the past Kitana and Kung Lao to the hourglass to fight Kronika. However, Kronika reverses time and the past Kitana is affected by it, along with the rest of the Earthrealm and Outworld forces. Since Liu Kang became a demigod, he was not. Kronika, having given them extra power, orders the revenants of Kitana, Kung Lao and Jade to kill her adversary. But Liu Kang destroys all three of them. After the defeat and death of Kronika at the hands of Lord Liu Kang’s unbeatable victories, he returns to the dawn of time to write a new history along with the past Kitana.

Part 2: Aftermath[]

With her victory over Shao Kahn, Kotal named Kitana as the new Kahn and has united Outworld.

Kitana arrives in the Soul Chamber, after being alerted by Jade, to confront Sheeva, questioning her about her allegiance with Shang Tsung. She attempts to stop the sorcerer but was intercepted by Sheeva. After witnessing her mother's resurrection, Kitana hesitated to hug her due to believing she killed herself and abandoned her. However, Sindel revealed the truth about how Quan Chi slayed her and staged her death as a suicide. Sindel also told Kitana that she "loved" Jerrod. Kitana was willing to help Sindel, but she told her to stay.

As Sindel was having a conversation with Shang Tsung, she belittled Kitana for trusting in Raiden and was plotting to go against her. After her conversation ended, Kitana entered her room and Sindel falsely greeted her. Sindel rescued Shao Kahn and plotted to revolt against Kitana as she defeated Sheeva. While Kitana lost contact with the Shokan, Commander Cage, and the Special Force, Kung Lao suspected Sindel's betrayal, but Kitana denies it. Kitana uses her scope to check the incoming fleet, only to discover Sindel's betrayal. Kitana pleaded her mother to stop the chaos and questioned what spell Shao Kahn had used on her. In reality, Sindel was never bewitched. She willingly married Shao Kahn. She explained why she betrayed Jerrod and to strengthen her bond with Shao Kahn, she murdered her former husband. Much to Kitana's disgust, she clashed with her mother and was defeated. Sindel convinced all of Kitana's soldiers (Osh-Tekks and Tarkatans) that Kitana was the traitor and a bad leader. Sindel wanted Kitana to be put in chains to suffer the 'anguish of defeat'. With all of her soldiers betraying her, Kitana reached for Liu Kang's hand, only for Shao Kahn to crush it.

Revenant Kitana is hit by Shao Kahn and knocked into Sindel’s lance that she had just stabbed Revenant Jade with, stabbing her through the stomach and killing her as well.

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Part II[]

After Shang Tsung, Kintaro, and Shao Kahn were defeated by Liu Kang and Kung Lao, she congratulated the former on his success. There'd finally be a promising future for Edenia as she'd rebuild her kingdom under his true father's wishes. Liu Kang asked if what should happen between them, but she turned him down, asking who'd said there'd be an "us."

Unfortunately, peace was short-lived, as she spotted a suspicious figure holding a blood-crusted amulet while the crowd of spectators were cheering for the heroes. She suspected it'd be Quan Chi, despite her peripheral vision doubting her judgement. Three months later, Outworld was involved in a nasty scrimmage between the Shokan and Centaurs, as this was the 5,000th anniversary of Jerrod's death. Asgaarth assisted her, Liu Kang, the Shokan rebellion, and Sheeva to overthrow Kahn's vicious rule as he was regaining his lost strength. Unfortunately, her plan backfired as Shang Tsung disguised himself as a Shokan making Sheeva and Motaro to finally war with each other. Raiden enlisted the help of the Centaurs as leverage against Tsung and the Shokan, and the heroes escaped while she rekindled with Liu's relationship.

Kitana soon encountered Kung Lao and a grown Aiko summoned by Raiden, and after the Saurians' fall, they headed to base again to catch up.

She was then seen in the main deck with the other Kombatants while Aiko had her first meditating session; in it, she saw Kitana and her failed insurrection on attaining the throne upon the 5000th anniversary of Jerrod's death. She and one of his trusted knights, Asgaarth, led the rebellion, though Liu Kang was anxious that if they should win, the team would lose Kitana as the new queen. Fortunately, that never happened as her rebellion was warped by Shang Tsung making an alliance with the Shokan disguising himself as Sheeva to gain the real one's trust. Khan was furious with the treachery, though he escaped while the defenders escaped as the Shokan were slaughtered by the Centaurs and Tarkans.

Kitana decided to revisit Outworld and survey the damage while spot any suspicious activity; there was nothing, even when she offered Liu to come. Unfortunately, nothing turned up, and Liu promised to avenge the fallen. There were no signs of Asgaarth either, though chances are he might've found fortitude.

She and Liu spotted a wounded Kano wandering around, but she halted him on making a mark. He wondered how he survived and was released from his captor in Kahn's arena. With that, Earthrealm began to merge with Outworld, and the three Kombatants were paralyzed.

Following the descending rope, Liu ran down the abandoned Bell Tower to the basement with a lethal bed of spikes, He saw a chute, and Kitana was in it! He cried her name, but she never stirred. Then he was ambushed by Rain!

Three months ago, Liu Kang and the defenders followed some suspicious portal readings coming from the New Guinea jungles. He was caught off guard by the outcast, and Kitana halted the fight; at one point they were engaged, which increased Liu's jealousy and distrust in Rain since he was an exile of Outworld. After the group was attacked by Lin Kuei cyborgs, Liu was separated from the princess, but her dropped fan was left as a clue, pointing toward an abandoned tower. Liu rescued Kitana from her shackles after destroying a multi-headed mutant. Kitana offered to fend off Rain, but the tower began to collapse, and he escaped in a watery portal.

Liu strategized to drive the lightning strikes to the gears and the bolts disabled the contraption and suspended Kitana over the spikes! He managed to destroy the gears after Rain was electrocuted and saved Kitana by using a Flying Kick over the spikes, but it wasn't long before the old tower caved in! Rain plowed thru the stories to his demise! Then the Kombatants made a leap of faith off the balcony! Luckily Asgaarth, and a Dragon Jet piloted by Jax and Sonya riding shotgun, came to their rescue!

As they chanced a short rest, Kitana was astonished Motaro was at it assassinating Johnny and leading the extermination squads across Earthrealm, although she was confused as to how Kahn was able to merge realms since the Elder Gods banned him in taking part in Earth. She suspected there'd be a loophole of sorts. She was also dumbfounded as to why Kahn would enlist both a Centuar and the Shokan, even though the former had been breaking ranks, she figured it was some false peace offer the Konquerer made to employ both races. Asgaarth depended on her and the Champion to save both realms, before the group took some shuteye.

By dawn, the quartet marched across the Bridge, and they were ambushed by the Tarkatan generals, Baraka, and her twisted sister, Mileena! She dealt with her while Liu faced off the former. It was a brutal fight and while Sonya was keeping the extermination squads, she was muffled as she tried to point some advice on disabling Mileena's legs; she was able to figure it out since Mileena was her clone, they'd pretty much have a similar fighting style utilizing their legs! The strategy worked though she didn't have the heart to kill her, especially when Mileena mentioned their mom, Sindel, was still alive. She was caught off guard, but Sonya came to her aide, incinerating Mileena with her pink energy wave! Kitana stated that honor shouldn't have to be owed, but the Agent thanked her anyway. She led the charge to Kahn's Fortress after Jax decimated the extermination squads as he made the Bridge collapse.

The quartet met up with the rest of the team beneath the streets, and they were prepared for battle! Shao Kahn sent out more of his extermination squads consisting of the usual Tarkatans, Shadow Priests and Centaurs. The enemies were suddenly ambushed by each of the heroes' own Animalities, even the rabbit who was used as a projectile; one time Liu Kang's dragon was paired with her before he threw her as she mauled a nearby Tarakatan! Other than that, she was used as a distraction till she morphed back into her Edenian form. Each one of the heroes continued to break thru the defense lines, and Kitana was the first to do so; she was able to gaze onto, and recognize, her resurrected mother, Queen Sindel!! She hid into the Fortress and the princess gave chase! Soon after, Liu Kang followed her in, as did Kung Lao, Aiko and Nightwolf albeit several feet away. Sindel let out a deafening shriek which stunned all the advancing Kombatants! Aiko was barely able to use her cardiokinesis, expanding Sindel's heart just enough to exhaust her and seize her banshee screams!

Liu Kang and Kitana were the first to infiltrate Kahn's Fortress, with the latter desperately looking for her mom. They wound up inside the Temple floor, and Sindel made a surprise attack from above!! Kitana tried to talk some reasoning into the evil queen, but she never budged, always belittling Kitana that Milenna was her true daughter, and she was glad she was able to reunite with Kahn, forgetting about Edenia and Jerrod, etc. Liu Kang urged Kitana not to take her slander to heart, so it was against the two royals! Kitana fought the best she could, but Sindel was more enduring than she was, especially stunning her with her excruciating shrieks, despite Liu strategizing her fans to deflect them. Her spear and levitation gave her the leg up in the showdown! Even her elongated hair was fatal when she used it to strangle her daughter!!

She didn't notice Liu Kang giving her mouth-to-mouth till she was resuscitated! He became emotional, and his worries and pure heart really warmed Kitana up to him... Nightwolf and Kung Lao rushed in, and for once Lao wasn't fazed of their intimacy. The Matokan sensed the immense darkness ahead, and Liu offered to stay with the women for a while.

Moments later, Nightwolf was about to use his conjured electricity within his axe onto Sheeva, but Sindel implored him to stop! Liu Kang and Kitana met up with them, and she convinced Sheeva she'd resume her role as Sindel's bodyguard. By the time the Soul Chamber was destroyed, the ceiling collapsed over it. Sheeva helped the heroes up to the Balcony and Kitana noticed Kung Lao was gone... Liu Kang was distraught, but she was one of his closest allies to convince him to keep fighting and win over Kahn for Earthrealm's, Edenia's and Lao's sakes...

She escaped with the other Kombatants from Kahn's collapsing tower and was relieved Liu Kang barely evacuated after being trapped thanks to Raiden's last-minute attempt! She anointed both Sindel and Sheeva as well as Asgaarth as her personal guards, even restoring her mother to the throne of Edenia. She began to warm up to the Champion more on account of his compassion and proving thrice he was Earthrealm's and Edenia's hero.

Shinnok's Uprising[]

Edenia was still recuperating from Kahn's conquest and Kitana and Sindel became its promising leaders. She was first seen 500 miles south from her mom's throne as she got involved with a brutal feud between the Shokan and the Centaurs at the Shokan city, Kuatan. She offered the Shokan to keep their lands, contrary to Kahn's extra land for the Centaurs. She was about to be attacked by an outraged Centaur until Goro arrived from above!! She was actually thrilled to see him as he was in hiding for the last couple years by his defeats. He protected her from the threats done by the Centaurs as he was unwilling to serve Kahn, even during the sudden assault in Edenia by Shinnok!

Kung Lao and Aiko met up with Kitana in the Living Forest while their team was being separated by the advancing Army of Darkness. She followed Lao's fatal Tornado as it was tearing apart the foot soldiers and she escaped from the destruction of the Palace in hopes of rallying up the Raptors; the Kombatants would never stand a chance against Shinnok and Quan Chi, and she was hoping to find Liu Kang, but the duo'd have to suffice. They were ambushed by a Saurian general at the middle of a desolated bog. The monk took the call to arms as the Zaterran spat acid into Kitana's face while Aiko tended her. Lao defeated him but by thr time Kitana recovered, she prevented him on killing the enemy. She made the enemy identify himself as Syzoth, a Saurian general. He escorted the trio to the Ruins of Zaterra which had been neglected for years.

The rebel convinced the other Saurians to be prepared and fight back the forces of Quan Chi and Shinnok. Kitana remembered the incident with Quan Ch manipulating the gem of Tetsurri. When the war's over, Kitana promises they can restore their civilization with the aid of other tribes, maybe evolve back into their humanoid selves.

Kitana arrived atop the hills and noticed Liu and Jade, and the two Edenian women reunited like long, lost sisters! Aiko complimented on their tearful reunion, though Jade's face fell once the reckless Tarkatans broke their cover! Kitana then suggested to save the prisoners, which jogged Jade's memory leading the heroes to a hidden slab into the underground prisons. She and Kitana stuck with Liu Kang at the trifecta, until he heard distant screams. Realizing it was Kung Lao, he turned and ran as he kicked the metal door away from its hinges! He arrived too late, and Raiden warned that Shinnok took Lao and Aiko into the Netherrealm. He offered the women to stay in Edenia while he and Fujin would assist the Champion to decimate Shinnok!

Nightwolf decided to perform a ritual allowing the compatriots' strength to cross over to the Netherrealm from Edenia. He offered Kitana to help him lead the spell since she had a close bond with the Champion, thus finding him at the horrid place. She was successful on tracing him and so the other heroes, including the rebels joined in.

The team cheered upon their triumphant return and Kitana was calling Liu's name which made them have a tight embrace! Until Liu remembered of Lao and Aiko's fate, and so Raiden took him to the Sky Temple. Several hours later, when the Edenians offered to extend their stay a little longer in China, the Edenians finally had their chance to explore the province. And Liu couldn't be more happier to show Kitana the rounds. Aiko and Jade wanted them to spend their downtime with each other, and so Jade offered to keep an eye on things while Kitana's away. Jade could've sworn that for the first time, she saw Liu and Kitana share a kiss...

A few days had passed since the end of the Netherrealm War. By the time Kung Lao and Aiko were finally out of recovery, they returned to the Wu Shi Academy with Liu, Sonya, Johnny, Kitana, Nightwolf and Kai. Mileena hid herself during the quarrel until it was just her and Kitana inside the throne room; she was jealous on never being the ruler of Edenia to which the Edenian replied she'd no right to rule it. Out of vengeance, Mileena uppercutted Kitana onto the throne in which, conveniently, there was a switch which forced the twisted sister into massive blades!

Goro accepted to sign Kitana's treaty at Kuatan between his kind and the Centaurs, the one that had been interrupted by Shinnok's invasion. Only to have IT be abruptly halted by a sudden assault from a glowing buzzsaw turning out to be Kung Lao's hat!! Kitana urged him to not start another kombat, and Goro challenged the former monk. Never backing down, Lao explained this was a ceremonial strike for his ancestor whom Goro killed several centuries ago. Goro questioned if he wished to continue the brutal feud, to which Lao replied he just wanted to make things even and have peace between them. Under the circumstances, Goro was impressed over Lao's pride and skills, which reminded him on how his ancestor was in nobility, looks and spirit. Goro realized the last descendant's his spitting image and if he wished to have a son, he shall carry on their legacy, and the Great Kung Lao shall be proud of his accomplishments, and Lao shall be proud of his as well... They shook hands and Kitana was successful.

Finally, Kitana was one of several warriors invited by Raiden during his final farewell to Earthrealm. She was relieved on him taking a long break, and he wished to see his children again someday...

Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]

Kitana's Vengeance attire

Kitana was in the throne room with her mom, best friend, Sheeva and Asgaarth as the latter announced they had visitors from Earthrealm. She was happy to see them, as was Aiko. Though she grew curious on Liu's whereabouts. Sonya and Nightwolf offered for his posse to leave Lao and Aiko behind. He broke the tragic news the Deadly Alliance returned from the Netherrealm, and killed Liu Kang save for his soul. Before she was disheartened, Liu's voice boomed from the dragon amulet Raiden made and encased his soul anointing Lao as his retainer. She was surprised Onaga was about to be resurrected and how Sindel described Kahn usurping Edenia during his conquest after he poisoned him. Nevertheless, Sindel was determined, and she enlisted her and Jade to achieve the mission and not repeat past konflicts. She and Jade declared,

"Edenia is an idyllic paradise, where we are free from tyranny."

Kitana informed the group that her mom has alerted the Shokan and Saurians of the oncoming threats, and she was impressed on Nightwolf advancing tech throughout the Palace, thus radioing them if handy. While fighting the Onis, Kitana was more defensive with her metal fans while Jade allowed for the offensive. She also took in Sonya's advice and reprimanded Frost the heroes should traverse straight thru the Wastelands instead of taking the tree lines, as the terrain was easier to go thru, and they wouldn't be ambushed as much. She then followed a sudden aftershock, and then came up to Lao, Aiko and Bo' Rai Cho! She too was disgusted on him abandoning the Shaolin and being banned from the Academy, not even no longer looking out for Lao and Liu! She assured the Orientals they shouldn't be ashamed due to his fall from grace.

The heroes arrived within the Lost Tomb and Kitana was the first to decipher the ancient Edenian inscriptions that the sarcophaguses belonged to the loyal undead warriors of Onaga, where the rested upon the Dragon's death by Shao Kahn, waiting for their master to reawaken. Lao, Kuai, Hanzo and Jax volunteered to destroy the stone caskets as she and the other Kombatants were being bothered by flies. Upon Aiko's screech, Lao made Moloch draw near the team, and soon Drahmin. Hanzo and Jax took them on, and Drahmin only discouraged the fleshy mortals would fail against the fugitive, Quan Chi, and his plots. When Nightwolf traced his and Shang's dark auras, Jade dreaded they'd be heading thru the dangerous Sarna Ruins.

Kitana pitched in on making the team cool while traversing thru, when she was using her steel fans along with Kung Lao's hat used as one. The heroes became weary after a while, until they spotted a random cyclone! Kung Lao disabled it and Kitana tried to catch his colossal fall! Her sonokinesis wasn't enough, until he was caught by an invisible field; in which it happened to be Kenshi's psychokinesis! She was impressed on what he could do despite his blindness! But things got compromised when Aiko noticed the distant drums... Kitana and Jade identified them belonging to the Makeba tribe, ruled by Konga! The group chased Aiko to the Drum Arena, and the Edenians mentioned he'd challenge the Kombatant in a duel, even at the event of a tie between two other fighters! Kenshi took him on and broke Aiko free from his thrall while stealing the Dragonfly! They escaped to their next destination.

Kitana along with Jade remained onboard the Dragonfly as it landed near the dormant volcano after Sonya and Jax spotted Cyrax! She even identified the intruders as a couple of Outworld nomads who assaulted Aiko! Fortunately for her, Baraka of all Kombatants came to her aid!! Kitana was shocked to hear he also came from the same dystopian future as she did, even when Kitana herself became Kahn of Outworld! However, due to him and his kind being massacred by Jade and her cohorts, he abruptly went back to the past; she eventually accepted his help!

Kitana was impressed on how Lao thought quickly as he teleported nearly everyone off deck of the doomed Dragonfly. And she dreaded of the secret Sun Do phenomenon of the Soulnado the Deadly Alliance would use. Kitana along with Sonya suspected they'd be an ambush near the Palace, and Kenshi signaled the Tarkatan army and Red Dragons. Kitana stuck with Jade as the mutants got their fans full till Raiden and Fujin aided the team! She then suggested a brief respite before the final battle.

Kitana was with Jade as the former agreed that Kung Lao should have a wingman against the Deadly Alliance. She soon had her fans full of the meddling Tarkatans, although she became grateful that Outworld has been saved, and Lao has avenged Liu, making him the new Champion and his equal.

Kitana was one of Baraka's escorts as she and Jade went back to the Edenian Palace. She wondered what would become of Outworld, speculating on Raiden's words if it'll sink into chaos.

While Ikran hates the NRS games, she was inspired by her roleplaying friends on Twitter! One of them was Baraka, who became a close ally and trainer to her OC, Aiko! Deeply fascinated by their friendship, she decided to add Baraka in as he abruptly traveled to the past like Aiko did, albeit more recent; while there, he served Kitana Kahn along with the Tarkatans and Shokan till they'd been massacred by Jade's corrupt future self.

Mortal Kombat: The Return of the Dragon King[]

Upon hearing Nightwolf's cries that Onaga has returned, she followed Sonya and company to Shang Tsung's Palace where the God brothers were fighting against the monstrosity! Lao took on the offensive first, but it wasn't long before he was wounded. Lao summoned Liu Kang's fiery dragon spirit back into the amulet before it was decimated, when Sonya, Jax, Johnny, Kitana and Nightwolf got involved. Needless to say, their efforts were futile, and Raiden was too weak from the scrimmage. All she did was observe her mentor conjure lightning into him! Fujin knew what was coming and before the fighters knew it, they were each caught in the explosion decimating the Palace and leaving only a scratch on Onaga!

Kitana, along with Tanya, stepped out of the shadows as they observed Sindel, Jade and half the royal guard in the Lost Tomb. Tanya threw the Tonfa into a guard's chestplate, the army charged toward her, and were tossed away by Kitana's fans! Jade and Sindel refused to fight her, and she easily won over them! Liu's spirit tried to intervene, but she burst thru him as if he were wind! She was about to have the upper hand until she was suddenly paralyzed then thrown onto Onaga's casket hitting her head! It was Ermac who knocked some sense into her, while she heard the muffled whistle from Aiko and magnified by Kenshi as she recalled the song she heard when she was a baby... Ermac unveiled himself as the lost King Jerrod! The reunion caused her to burst into tears and embrace him, with Sindel following suit. Kenshi then encouraged Kitana to recall everything she could; Onaga's plan to dominate all realms and build his army while he should find the last Kamidogu. He noticed it was a fake and became desperate. Only Liu Kang, amongst the group, knew its whereabouts, and Kenshi took everyone back to Liu's Tomb in Earthrealm while Onaga's corpse burnt!

The heroes arrived at Liu's Tomb and Kitana wondered who the Edenian Champion should be. Fortunately, Jerrod came to the conclusion that he should impersonate him since he was the collector of souls! By the time he found and used his identity, she and Sindel grew bewildered, wishing him to return safely. Kitana still stuck with the group as they went north blindly, hoping to find the Temple of Elements, although it was thanks to Fujin who teleported them there. She was one of the bystanders as she met Li Mei and witnessed the revenant Johnny be thrown down a ditch by the Edenian knights. She stilled stayed with Jade and the other Edenians as Kenshi and Aiko left for disturbances emanating from the Wu Shi Academy.

Kitana, along with the other Kombatants, were unable to slow down the erratic Johnny chasing after the last Kamidogu. Although she did mutter a spell that seemed to slow him down, to the point on easily being ambushed by Ashrah. Sindel asked what it was and Kitana mentioned while she was a pawn of Onaga's, she discovered a mantra that was supposed to separate Onaga's influence from his victims, although the Kriss was proven to be more effective. She then watched in Aiko's heart gem as Jerrod and Liu Kang fought against Onaga, till the Kamidogu were destroyed, and the King was brutally mangled by the Tornado! Reptile became his weak self, and soon Raiden escorted her and her comrades to the Sky Temple.

Kitana waited eagerly for Liu Kang, although Jerrod was the first to recover. The Edenians reunited, and she was thrilled Liu became his normal, lively self since his death by the Deadly Alliance!

Soon after Liu was resurrected, she actually escorted him to Edenia and spent some quality time together roaming thru the kingdom; everyone was happy to see them, even as a couple. So much so, Kitana eventually led him to her personal quarters, and offered him an Edenian opal as a proposal! As much as she wanted to spend time with her hero, he had to return to Earthrealm amongst his fellow monks, leaving her disheartened... She pined for hus return, until she noticed a man made of crimson and canary armor plates. He went by the name of Blaze which to her was the cryptic creation of Argus and Delia! She was so distraught knowing that each victory shall guarantee imminent danger from another omnipresent being, despite her lamenting as one of Onaga's generals... Blaze assured if everything goes as planned, her enemies would be destroyed for good, and she must rally her allies once more.

Kitana soon met up with Taven within the dirt road in Earthrealm; in order to prove him that he's the real deal, she challenged him to a battle. This was a sparring match, and Taven was able to defeat her. Kitana knew from there he was the legendary demigod to end Armageddon; she stated she was searching for her kompatriots in solitude, even slipping away from her kingdom in the thick of night. She kontinued on her way, leaving Taven with a mysterious monolith.

Thanks to meeting Frederick, a young scout who ventures thru all the realms, and courtesy of his blip warping ability, she was able to find the Wu Shi Academy and reunited with the Shaolin siblings before they were summoned by Raiden into the Dragon Grotto. Much like Kiba and Frederick, this was the first time Kitana ventured there. After hearing the guardian's distresses over Blaze and Armageddon, she mentioned she encountered the fire spawn herself soon after Liu left for Earthrealm and settled a lethal dispute amongst the Shokan. Goro and Sheeva were planning to relocate to Austrailia and start anew, away from the intimidating atmosphere of Outworld and the constant wars. Kitana was sympathetic yet a bit saddened by the idea, until Kintaro barged into the throne room! Goro immediately took him on and defeated him, but not killed him, as he and Sheeva learnt from Kitana and Lao that they must put aside their violent acts and use them for the greater good. Kintaro was reluctant on joining the royal guard in their stead, and Kitana was glad Liu decided to stay and settle matters.

Kitana apologized to her mom on not informing her and her loyal subjects sooner on Blaze and Armageddon, although Sindel figured it would still be inevitable. She and Jerrod remembered the Pyramid of Argus, a structure built by the protector god, and Blaze, the being created by Delia who was said to be an oracle. Legend had it Argus received these visions from her of the final battle, which were originally brought on by the Elder Gods, and that Blaze was designed to destroy all. Kitana then grew worried for Sindel's dread if Kahn should ever return, and Liu swore to put an end to their enemies, in which Goro had confidence. They were soon joined by Baraka who offered to take tactful measures.

Kitana was spending her last minutes with Liu Kang at the Dragon Grotto. She was skeptical as he figured out that Liu must win and defeat Blaze before Taven, Daegon, and any enemy would. Kitana doubted he'd be able to destroy the elemental on account he was a mortal, and Raiden immediately shocked her claiming Liu'd need more strength than ever before! Liu was outraged, but Raiden gave him proof he must fulfill his destiny; he thought he'd be electrocuted like her, but he was "saved" instead as Raiden merged! Liu laid his own heart gem and soon Aiko's next to her, stating that Caro would know what to do.

Caro retrieved the combined heart gem and made a rip to the Yin Yang Island; without the gem, Aiko figured it was indeed Fire God Liu Kang who sent her back, and she failed to notice that Kitana's vessel dissolved. It turned out the combined gem preserved her memories and were transferred to the Edenian watching the Hourglass! After Blaze's destruction and Aiko's sudden arrival on the island, Caro escorted her to Kitana, only she was the one who stayed with Liu Kang since time immemorial ever since he defeated Kronika and became the new Keeper of Time! She was grateful on all the valiant deeds she made, even supporting them as a couple. She then stayed with Liu Kang and Caro if they should travel through time freely.

Masked disguise as the Edenian

The same Kitana that stepped down from being Kahn and joined Liu Kang in his journey thru time was the same one who watched over Earthrealm and Edenia since time immemorial! After Liu became the new Keeper of Time, he made Kitana as a goddess after he went to retrieve the missing Krown. She stayed by his side at the Yin Yang Island, a safe haven, while Liu chose the Great Kung Lao as his Champion. They looked thru the Hourglass and noticed the amulet beginning to crack. He knew Armageddon was coming but she soon fell into a coma as her younger self was shocked by Raiden. Aiko's two heart gems merged, and Caro took it to the island where the Edenian was revitalized! She spotted Aiko and thanked her dearly for all her valiant deeds. She shown her around before she escorted her back to the Wu Shi Academy. With Armageddon seized, Caro stayed with her and the elder Liu Kang, even if they should travel thru time again...

Kontentment[]

Several weeks after Armageddon, she stayed with Liu and Caro on Yin Yang Island; he'd been training the dragon as the new guardian of the Hourglass and she functioned as the ref encouraging them both and soothing any conflicts. That was until she became ill. He offered Caro her request to return to Edenia and recuperate there, and it was at the Palace that the denizens came to the conclusion that she's pregnant! Days passed, and Kitana progressed thru her trimester, until it was time for labor and delivery! Her family, even Taven and Orin, went to her side as she went thru the agonizing process! Eventually, she bore a demigod, and they named him, Cheung Kang! They soon returned to the tropical isle and Aiko and Caro were thrilled! As Kitana put Cheung and herself to sleep, Aiko gifted Liu his own heart gem and the Fire God bestowed the dragon guardianship!

Koherence[]

Kitana was only seen briefly inside the throne room of the Grand Palace with Sindel and Jerrod. She was still pining for Liu Kang, as it was after the battle with Onaga, but she had heard of the plight of the White Lotus and forming a band struck interest into Jerrod and Goro!

Trivia[]

  • Ikran had a tough decision on who Kitana should be voiced as in her fic, either Talia Soto from the movie series, or Cree Summer from Defenders of the Realm; she eventually decided with the latter since it sounded more serene and nearly similar to her actress in Shaolin Monks. In Final Kombat, she went with Kari Wahlgren from MK11.
  • Ikran has chosen Kitana to be one of her Female Characters in Video Games.
  • According to the MK1's site source code, Kitana's purpose is duty. Makes sense to lead her realm and Mileena if she should be infected by the new Tarkatan disease.
