Foerost was a Core planet orbited by the famous Foerost Shipyards, which was one of the Galactic Republic's largest and oldest shipyards.

Foerost was a planet[4] in the Foerost system of the Core Worlds. It was located along the Koros Trunk Line, between Kuar and Kaikielius.[3]
Although a city, Hajibar, existed on Foerost at the time of the War of the Ring,[6] the planet was uninhabited during most of its history. The planet was renowned for its shipyards, located in high orbit. The shipyards' engineers removed raw materials from the planet and transported them to the shipyards. The shipyards of Foerost were among the oldest and most successful large-scale construction facilities in the galaxy.[4]
History[]
The planet was originally a vassal colony of Kaikielius, but had achieved full Republic membership by 11,000 BBY.[8] During the Tionese War, the Republic Navy was headquartered at Foerost, the site of the Republic's largest shipyard.[9]
The Foerost Shipyards were engulfed by Naga Sadow's fleet during the Great Hyperspace War.[3] Centuries later, in 3996 BBY, during the Great Sith War, a combined Krath/Mandalorian fleet captured 300 Galactic Republic warships from the shipyards for use in an assault on the Republic capital Coruscant. Decades later, in 3959 BBY, Sith Lords Darth Revan stole a major Republic fleet from the shipyards, triggering the Jedi Civil War.[10]
Millennia later, the shipyards were purchased from the Republic by the Techno Union.[6] During the Separatist Crisis, the Techno Union secretly joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems with the objective to overthrow the Republic. When the War of the Ring erupted, the Techno Union provided the Foerost Shipyards to the Separatist war effort. In response, the Republic blockaded Foerost, expecting the shipyards to decline without access to Separatist supply line. Contrariwise, Separatist engineers were able to develop and secretly build a fleet of Bulwark-class battleships. After nearly two years of blockade, the Bulwark Fleet was revealed when it broke the siege of Foerost. This fleet ravaged Sector Zero until it was stopped by a fleet of Victory-class Star Destroyers, the Victory Fleet.[7] After the defeat of the Bulwark Fleet at the Battle of Anaxes, the Republic eventually recaptured Foerost.[11]
