Before they could go any further, they must face off against Count Dooku. Luckily, Anakin has the upper hand after Dooku renders Obi-Wan unconscious, and taps into the dark side of the Force by severing Dooku's right hand. However, during the talk, Padmé reveals that she is pregnant, and the two are unaware about what they are going to do. Meanwhile, Palpatine requests for Anakin's presence, and the two meet at his office, where Palpatine appoints Anakin as Council representative. A Sith Who Revives the Dead? The Tragedy of Darth Plagueis.

(シス死者を復活?ダース・プレイガスの悲劇。, Shisu shisha o fukkatsu? Dāsu Pureigasu no higeki.)

Obi-Wan and the Council are distrustful of Anakin, not thinking that he could handle controlling them. While hearing that Palpatine will be attending an opera in the Uscru District, Anakin plans to join Palpatine, and they share a talk about the condition between him and Padmé. This reminds Palpatine of the story of a Sith lord who could revive the dead—Darth Plagueis the wise. And a flashback takes place during the majority of the episode. During the story, it is revealed that Darth Sidious, Plaguies' apprentice, has learned everything his master taught him. Not long after, Sidious murdered Plagueis in his sleep. Plagueis could save others from death, but not himself.

Having finally arrived with a battalion of clones and Commander Cody, Obi-Wan faces off against General Grievous. In a chase, while riding on his Varactyll, Boga, Obi-Wan loses his lightsaber (which Cody later finds). The chase ends on a platform, where Obi-Wan takes Grievous' laser, which the latter used while trying to kill Obi-Wan, and shoots Grievous in all sections of his armored body, including shooting off his limbs, and finally aiming for his heart. With that, General Grievous is destroyed.

During the events of the second-half of the previous episode, Anakin insists Palpatine that he should go to Utapau to stop Grievous as well, since the Jedi Council doesn't trust him, he could only turn to Palpatine for help. Their conversation slowly turns to Palpatine's knowledge of the Force. Anakin quickly shifts his lightsaber on and threatens Palpatine, finally realizing that Palpatine is Darth Sidious. Anakin thinks about exposing Palpatine to the council, but is also concerned about his wife. Master Mace Windu informs Anakin that Obi-Wan has destroyed Grievous, so he doesn't need Anakin. Anakin informs Windu about the terrible truth about Palpatine, and Windu, along with Kitt Fisto, Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin travel to Palpatine's office to place him under arrest.

Anakin, who has learned that Sidious has killed three Jedi, heads over to the antechamber and watches the fight between Windu and Sidious. Anakin talks Windu out of trying to kill Sidious, but Windu tells him that Sidious is too dangerous to be kept alive. And before Windu could deliver the final blow to Sidious, Anakin severs both Windu's hands, and Darth Sidious grabs his disarmed lightsaber and stabs Windu through the heart.
