Gamora is a fictional character portrayed by Zoe Saldana in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film franchise, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Gamora is a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, having escaped her previous life as an assassin after she was forcibly adopted by Thanos after he eliminated half of her planet's race, including her mother. For 20 years, she serves as a cybernetically enhanced warrior who serves Thanos on his quest to erase half of all life in the universe. She becomes romantically involved with Peter Quill, with that relationship continuing until her death at the hands of Thanos. Later, an alternate version of the character from before the events of Guardians of the Galaxy is brought forward into the MCU.
As of 2021, the character has appeared in four MCU films, beginning with Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. The character appeared again in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 2017, followed by Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, and Avengers: Endgame in 2019. She is set to return in the upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Unlike the other Guardians, Gamora hadn't jumped five centuries going thru a black hole. Instead, since her soul had been sacrificed to the Soul Stone, she had actually traveled thru time. At first, she had total amnesia, but she eventually recollected her memories and met up with the other Guardians. She has been a protective and strict parental figure, even to Rick and Tinsel. She'll defend them in a moment's notice, like Drax, and she seems to have a slow relationship with Quill. She congratulated the couple of their upcoming wedding, and she talked some sense into Peter after the feud with Tinsel.
Later on, she reunited with Rick and Tinsel in Mute City. As Star-Lord piloted the Milano to take a gangbanger believing to belong to the disbanded Bloody Chain to the nearest prison and receive the bounty, she discussed with the couple on how she traveled over 500 years into the future. When she was sealed inside the Soul Stone by Thanos, it felt she was imprisoned, and time stood still. When he was defeated, it was believed her imprisonment shattered inside a black hole, hurling her to another planet and losing the majority of her memory. Peter was obsessed on finding her, only to have the Milano crash at Planet Berhert while going thru a black hole. The group found her and Mantis restored her memories. She adapted to this new time like they did and noticed several species were either endangered/extinct, such as the Metroids, Na'vi, Fayelons, Genomes, and her kind. She wondered if utilizing DNA would revive them and perhaps settle down with Star-Lord in Port Town, She hopes she'll have a better life in a different time period and redeem herself as being a cold-blooded assassin to Thanos.
It can be implied that events from Guardians Vol. 3 took place after the Infinity War; hence Peter finding an alternate Gamora working for the Ravagers, yet still, Peter found the doomed version after the Guardians went thru a black hole.
