The Guardians of the Galaxy are a fictional space-faring superhero team that appear in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning formed the team from existing and previously unrelated characters created by a variety of writers and artists, with an initial roster of Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Quasar, Adam Warlock, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, and Groot.
Origin[]
In the 31st Century, the Guardians of the Galaxy are freedom fighters formed by a diverse group of beings. The home reality of the Guardians of the Galaxy has been designated Earth-691. The founding members are Vance Astro (later Major Victory), Charlie-27, Yondu and Martinex. The team was founded to fight the Badoon race, who had conquered the Sol system and the Alpha Centauri system among others. The Guardians became the leading force of the resistance movement against the Badoon.
Biography[]
The Guardians of the Galaxy is a group of heroes who opposed the conquest of the Kree system (and many who had opposed Annihilus' incursion into their universe) and banded together in an attempt to prevent any further catastrophes from ever occurring.
On the recommendation of ally Nova, the group established a base of operations at the space station Knowhere, which conveniently possessed a teleportation system with near-universal range. An intelligent, super-powered dog called Cosmo acted as Knowhere's chief of security and worked closely with the new team during their first missions. In the mainstream universe (Earth-616), Warlock would find the new Guardians after stopping Thanos.
In 2026, the Guardians were attacked on Knowhere by Adam Warlock, which resulted in Rocket being severely wounded. In order to save his life, the Guardians allied with the Ravagers, which included the alternate Gamora, to infiltrate OrgoCorp. Joined by Gamora, the Guardians of the Galaxy traveled to Counter-Earth to revive Rocket, after which they assembled to defeat High Evolutionary and liberate his test subjects, including a young girl named Phyla. Returning back to Knowhere, Gamora, Star-Lord, Mantis, Drax and Nebula elected to leave the team to live individual lives. Rocket was then appointed as the new leader and led a new iteration of the team comprised of himself, Groot, Obfonteri and Cosmo along with new members Blurp, Phyla and Adam Warlock.

Ikran's F-Zero timeline[]
The Guardians were first mentioned in To Be Married and Loved. Rick and Tinsel were contacted by them in Falcon's Fortress apologizing on not making to their wedding due to their hectic bounty-hunting, though they did wish them luck, even Groot who kept saying the same three words! It was said they first met the group as they crossed paths one mission as Star-Lord offered to give them a Dylithium Crystal for their Falcon Flyer if they can give the aggressor and his bounty to them. Drax actually saved Tinsel's life from the enemy. Peter then requested for the wedding to be recorded, and Clank was happy for his bot, Tek, to do it.
In Worriment of the Future, Rocket came to Rick and Tinsel's aid in Mute City just by cleaning house of the Bloody Chain stragglers. Gamora and Peter criticized the Milky Way has more crime than the Andromeda Galaxy. They made up for lost time, even when they mentioned they traveled 5 centuries into the future from the Infinity War via black hole. They wound up at Berhert and soon found Gamora suffering from amnesia from her imprisonment in Thanos' Soul Stone. Contrary to the MCU, Thor never joined, though Nebula was only temporary before she short-circuited during their lethal missions against Hala the Accuser.
They soon retired as Guardians, though Peter and Rocket still kept their hobbies in F-Zero racing.
It can be implied that after their Infinity War, events from Guardians Vol. 3 took place, and the team still remained the same before they found that black hole that took them 500 years into the future,
