Hamm is a supporting character in the Disney-Pixar Toy Story franchise. He is a wisecracking vintage plastic piggy bank originally belonging to Andy Davis but now belongs to Bonnie Anderson.

He and Mr. Potato Head appear to be best friends, as they are often seen playing games and clapping hands with each other whenever something spectacular happens. Hamm is something of a technological genius, identifying types of trash back, child lock and is the ultimate channel hopper in Toy Story 2, as he switches channels far more rapidly than the other toys can. He is voiced by former Cheers star John Ratzenberger who plays a character in every Pixar movie. He is one of Woody's five best friends.

Trivia[]

  • It's revealed in Toy Story 2 that Hamm strongly dislikes Al McWhiggin wearing his chicken suit.
  • The late George Wendt, the late Chris Farley, the late Rodney Dangerfield, Jeffrey Jones, and John Goodman were all considered to voice Hamm before John Ratzenberger was cast. However, John Goodman would later voice James P. Sullivan in a later Pixar film, Monsters Inc..
  • In an early concept art, Hamm was originally going to be a stuffed toy pig instead of a piggy bank.
  • In both the third and fourth films, Hamm has shown age significantly if one looks closely. In Toy Story 3, the black paint on his hooves are coming off, and the corners of his legs and snout are beginning to crack. In Toy Story 4, he has noticeable colored scuff marks, particularly around his coin slot and face, sadly enough.
  • Hamm doesn't get Mr. Potato Head's Picasso Joke, thus causing Mr. Potato Head to call him an Uncultured Swine.
  • Hamm serves as the narrator of the Toy Story Animated Storybook.
