Moon Shadow (BCB)
Haruka Misaki (also known as "Miss Killer" in the Japanese version and Luna Ryder in the dub) is the right-hand woman for Black Shadow and works as his spy. However, her true identity is Haruka Misaki (Misaki Haruka in Japanese) and was Rick's girlfriend in the year 2051, where she was supposedly killed by Zoda. Like Rick, she was kept in suspended animation until she was revived and brainwashed by Black Shadow. She pilots the Moon Shadow.
Anime[]
Before the events of the anime, as well as after Rick's tragic accident, she left a diary behind; Clank Hughes and Alias came across it, in Lap 36: Haruka, and in it, she revealed that her dad's a diplomat and her mom's a fashion designer, and she was 21 when she first met Rick. She was actually introduced to him by her best friend, Rose, and she said it was destiny. During that time, she was known as the racing queen, and Rick was starting out. He often lost to many races as an amateur, even having thoughts on giving up, but it was always Haruka that encouraged him as well as taught him some pointers. Since then, he was able to win race after race, even win the Championship, the Big Apple Grand Prix, twice in a row.
Haruka then waited for Rick at Memory Park after that, but by sunset, she had the startling news from Rose that he was taken to the critical care unit! She hurried in, only that the guard said they had already started, meaning that Rick was already encased in ice and frost, then sealed away, never to be seen again. Since then, Haruka had a certain vengeance of his assassin, Zoda. He was ambushed at the East Bank, then Haruka showed up with a pistol drawn! She hesitated on killing him, then she wrote in her journal that Rick would be in a new world, and she won't be there. She stopped being a racing champion after Rick was in limbo and her last wish, before she disappeared forever, was for Rick to have this diary.
After 150 years, she became Black Shadow's right-hand woman. She was in deep-freeze when Black Shadow brainwashed her as she was being conjured by The Skull. She debuted in Lap 8, The Secret Within/The Miss Killer Puzzle. She usually wins when she races, which is one reason why Black Shadow values her. Zoda doesn't appear to like her. Later on, she recovered her memories thanks to exposure of Zoda's Reactor Might, though she was seen afterwards beating Rick during his imprisonment, and he claims she'll never be the Haruka he knew and loved. Eventually, her actions forced Black Shadow to turn against her. She is later saved by Captain Falcon after she was frozen in carbonite and attached to the Dark Star Reactor. In the last episode, she and Rick were reunited, and seven years later, she's seen working in the bar where Captain Falcon's secret identity previously worked.
Ikran's F-Zero timeline[]
Haruka Misaki was Rick's girlfriend who taught him how to become a better Formula 1 racer. She was known as the Racing Queen, her dad's a diplomat, and her mom's a fashion designer. She was actually friends with Rose, a cop from 150 years ago, as well as one of Rick's friends; she was the one who introduced Haruka to Rick, and while he was struggling Haruka was there to guide to become the champion of the Big Apple tournament for two years in a row. Then, she lost Rick, as Rose informed her that they'd taken him to the ICU soon to be in cryo-hibernation. Haruka was distraught seeing it and then vowed to take revenge on Zoda. Rose advised her not to, but she went to the East Bank anyway but hesitated as he was being enveloped in freezing mist! After that, they said she was involved in a tragic accident. Only her diary remained, and Rose held onto it, then Alias, for 150 years.
Haruka has actually split into two forms; her kindred spirit restless in the heavens, and her dark side, Miss Killer/Luna Ryder who was resurrected by Black Shadow and the Skull. The latter was conjured by them, even with Dark Reactor Mights. And because her body was uninhabited, it was easy to control.
She first encountered Rick as the damsel, Sophia defecting from Dark Million and Rick took her in, only to suffer from the Skull's lethal spell. He then saw the real Haruka in the heavens, assuring he'll have his chance to see her eventually. Rick soon found out from Jody that it's been confirmed she worked for Black Shadow, and she has made a few menaces. But not until she ambushed Rick at a dark alley while he came to terms of Haruka's death by her own hands. After Rick was reawakened, he was then brainwashed with his friends and then reunited with Miss Killer, whom he knew was Haruka, within the darkness. They teamed up to send off a false SOS in a mountain at White Land and Tinsel and Leon followed into a trap! She confronted the wild dog, but he got away amongst the dark ice.
She was seen again in the Cosmo Terminal quarterfinals nearly winning the race with her Moon Fire technique and making Rick uneasy. She advanced to the Death Wind semifinals and to the Lightning Championship, and she cornered Tinsel and Gomar & Shioh, as Rick was taken to Dark Star. She then teleported up after the Falcon Flyer approached, and nearly convinced Rick to joining the dark side from their bond, but to no avail. Still, plans of Dark Million carried forward, and with Tinsel captured she was involved in a scrimmage with Miss Killer, after she helped Jody find a couple Light Reactor Mights. Rick was at a standstill as who to save as Miss Killer kept reminding him she's Haruka though Tinsel forced him to remember the actual Haruka in the heavens; advising him he must never be intimated by the byproduct of Black Shadow, and she depended on him to save the universe and allow her to rest. Sadly, Miss Killer perished as she fell to her demise in space, and her corpse was retrieved by the Galaxy Runner then made overlooking like Haruka. Her kindred spirit visited one more time to say goodbye to Rick and her soul was at rest.
In the second Deleted Lap, it was seen as her dead vessel when she was transported from the Galaxy Runner to a Mute City funeral parlor with a beautiful mural overhead. Rick said his final farewell to her while also imploring for forgiveness. Haruka whispered Thank You to Rick as he and Tinsel were watching the stars in Port Town and forgiving him. But that was contrary as he saw Miss Killer in Purgatory/Bardo tempting him to cross the river and nearly convincing him as she shown him the T-Virus overran Port Town and killed his friends. That was until he heard Tinsel imploring him to not die, and with his renewed strength tossed her to the opposite bank causing her vessel to finally be vanquished for good!

- Haruka is a Japanese name meaning distant, remote. This can be significant since she's always far away from Rick, even when she was brainwashed by Dark Million.
- Misaki is a Japanese name for beauty bloom.
- In Ikran's timeline, Haruka/Miss Killer were polar opposites. At first, she DID want Haruka and Rick to reunite in the series; however, since it waited too long for her to retain her senses on account of Hyper Zoda's hallucinations with the Dark Reactor Might, she STILL acts like the brainwashed mole that she is!! This infuriated Ikran even when she still treated Rick as a punching bag!! Thus, she had this idea on splitting into two different incarnations: one as a kindred spirit in the heavens as Haruka, the other being a reanimated corpse possessing an evil heart with her face as Miss Killer! In Ending it All, she explained this further, even though some fans chastised her, and wanted Tinsel for Rick instead! This was proof since she didn't use the Reactor Might formula and resulted in her death; and having Haruka rest in peace.
