With the Torrentuff Animals of the current generation nearly complete, only two more remain to be found: the heroes of light and darkness. While searching for massive energy signatures, JRuff learns that there are three more powers to be found: Hagane, (the power of steel), Ki (the power of wood) and Akira (the power of crystal). Meanwhile, Link, under the guise of Neil Nissim, finds a mysterious black notebook, and, from the moment he touches it, feels ashudder. Just then, a scary-looking figure descends behind him. Link, feeling quite scared at the sight of him, asks if he's a monster or an alien. The figure answers that he is neither one; he is a shinigami, an angel of death, and says that the notebook Link is holding is known as a notebook of death, or a "Death Note" for short. He says that whoever's name is written in the notebook, that person dies. Link wouldn't risk writing anybody's name in the notebook, and returns it to him. However, the shinigami asks a favor of him... Later, after searching for a signature reading for Hagane, JRuff announces that the next journey will lead the Torrentuffs to the Holy Britannian Empire, which has dominated Japan. Toby says that they just been there, but JRuff insists they go anyway. With all the Torrentuffs together, they head out to the far-east island nation once again. However, they are visited by a squad of terrorist soldiers. Their captain points a gun at Toby, since he is Japanese, or what the Britannians call an "Eleven". Link, in monster form, shields Toby as the captain shoots, taking a bullet to the head. Hisui, heartbroken, begs them not to kill anymore people. The squad obeys her without question, and they drop their guns, retreating. JRuff thanks Hisui, but as she turns around, the Torrentuffs notice that her right eye is glowing. Link awakens, still alive, and notices Hisui's eye glowing, too. JRuff fears this to be a power called "Geass". The episode, and the season, ends with a conversation between the shinigami from before and a mysterious green-haired girl. The girl, who greets the shinigami, knows him by name; his name is Ryuk. Ryuk says that it's been a long time since they met. The girl says that the power of the king has awakened within a young Jeweler...
