Biography[]

Birth and Ancestry[]

Inez Castillo Black was born on October 31, 2014, in Forks, Washington. Her mom, Isabella Castillo Esfahani, has a unique mix of cultural backgrounds—Tejano (Mexican, Mayan-Nahua and Criollo ancestry) and Iranian Jewish with Upper Egyptian roots, while her dad, Joseph Black, is Native American with a mix of Italian and American ancestry. Inez never had the chance to know her father or her brother. Soon after she was born, her parents separated, each taking one child with them. This decision was made by Philippe, Isabella's older half-brother from her mother's previous troubled marriage. When he learned that his half-sister had given birth to a son named Brandon, he was far from pleased. He really didn’t like her marrying Joseph because he thought Joseph was beneath him. Philippe slyly slipped Isabel a substance that messed with her fertility to prevent her from having more kids with Joseph. After a year, Isabel found out what he did and called him out on it. He said he’d stop if she left Joseph and their son, but she wasn’t having any of it. Seeking solutions, she consulted her grandmother, who recommended an ancient fertility diet. It meant she had to drink a lot of a herbal tonic, which contained a narcotic that expands mental awareness. This, combined with the couple's genetic compatibility, resulted in Inez's birth with a full adult mentality.

Upbringing[]

After the split, Inez and her mom moved to Los Angeles and ended up living with their relatives the Castillo-Esfahanis, who had been under Philippe's thumb since 1996. Back then, Isabel was just a kid at eleven, and Philippe used his dad's money and scary reputation to keep the family in line and handle their finances. Isabel's mom, Juana, was determined to shield her kids from the tough times she had during her first marriage to Philippe's dad. She watched as Philippe turned into a controlling and emotionally distant man, just like his father. Juana, with her husband Reza by her side, decided to go ahead and sue her son. But in response, he stole the family's stuff and even planned to take their house. If he pulled it off, the Castillos could end up without a home, which meant Inez and her siblings might get sent into the foster care system, cut off from their parents. So Juana felt like she had no choice but to back down on the lawsuit. After that, Philippe gave back everything the family owned, but he still kept control of the finances, leaving them with $80,000 a year in shares and income.

The Castillo-Esfahani family has always focused on teaching Inez and her cousins the difference between right and wrong. Isabella often taught her daughter, her nieces, and nephews martial arts particuarly Karate, which helped them learn discipline and honor. The family also took pride in their cultural heritage. During family dinners, they enjoyed a variety of dishes, like tamales, enchiladas, and crawfish étouffée. They also shared Persian herb rice, called sabzi polo, along with hearty koufteh soup with meat and rice, and savory krugel and stuffed pigeon on the side. On weekends, Isabella would take Inez to Oregon to spend time with the Hathaway Family, from the Chinook tribe, who knew her father. During these visits, the family would teach her to dive, and fish. She enjoyed the food they would have for lunch, such as Cedar-braised bison and Salmon chowder, and she loved hearing the stories the Hathaways and her mom shared about him. Every other summer, the family were allowed to hit the road to places like Northern California, San Antonio, Texas, New Orleans, and Boston. While on these trips, Inez would often wander around parks and cultural spots by herself, really soaking up the vibe of each place. Even though the family had a good times, some members, if not all, faced their own struggles. Since they could remember, their older half-cousins—JC, Vicki, and Lila—bullied their younger cousins and called them inferior. Inez felt the most pain from the bullying, frequently being called a freak. Even though she put on a brave face to handle their bullying, she quietly dealt with the hurt that stayed inside her.

As mentioned before, Inez's unimaginable smarts came from a unique mix of her parents' genes plus her mom's herbal tonic, which was like a mental booster. Because of this, she actually woke to consciousness even before she was born! When she was born, she had all of the memories from her ancestors, though she had limited access to the memories from her dad's side. This incredible background made her wise beyond her years, leaving her family and friends in awe. By the age of three, Inez had already gone through every book in the family library, multiple times. She could easily recite poems by Poe, Byron, and Shakespeare by heart and could speak in a bunch of different languages, both old-school and modern. Her half-uncle, Philippe, was so impressed that he decided to enroll her in the Miriam School, a private school for super smart kids in Bel-Air, Los Angeles. This caught everyone off guard and raised some eyebrows, with worries that Philippe might have some hidden agenda.
