Jehn the Capybara was first introduced in the second holiday special of Ikran's Side Stories of Mortal Kombat. She's a 3-week-old capybara pup that was once neglected by her family as a runt of the litter. She was actually born on Yin Yang Island soon after the capybara caper began. Because of her being malnourished and ignored, Lord Liu Kang and Titaness Kitana decided to relocate her to the Kung Kottage as a surprise Christmas gift! The Kung family noticed some scratches on the basement door, so they took a look just in case they belonged to Lao's white rabbit. It turned out to be a female baby capybara! Aiko was ecstatic to meet her and Little Guy, aka Xiaojiāhuo, became a fast friend to her, including making her feel at home, sharing their veggies, even playing and sleeping together!
It was during the Christmas of 1998, when she was brought to the Kottage, and she instantly became a new member of the family. At first, Jin and Aiko weren't sure what to call her, that was until Kung Lao suggested Jehn, inspired by his ancestor and his girlfriend! Overtime, she grew and loved being around the family; she was the long-awaited solution on finding a pet companion for Kung Ling as well as a close friend to Xiaojiāhuo. Ferrets were off limits as they're too feisty with other species, contrary to capybaras, and tanukis were out of the question due to carrying many diseases and messing up fauna. But due to Aiko's recent discovery and fascination, as well as the aforementioned Japanese escape from imperialistic zookeepers, it was finally officially decided! Ling didn't even mind the pup munching on the flowers outside the Kottage neither, nor playing with the former Christmas ornaments.
On the day after Christmas, Fujin delivered a late gift for Jehn which was a long, thin leash and a scratcher at the tip; he also suggested to Ling and Jin for Jehn to scratch her morillo onto one of Lao's old Nunjaku wooden stick for stimulation. It wasn't long before Jehn discovered the large wooden running wheel that Little Guy shown her as he was walking fast on it, prompting the curious capy to try it!

Jehn was frolicking with Little Guy as the future couple brainstormed their invitees for the wedding; they even wondered if Kiba shall be the pet sitter while their family'd be away.

- The ideas on being female, even with the pink nose, were inspired by Cheesecake, a capy from Dark Wings Wildlife.
- Capybaras are territorial, but also the most sociable species in the animal kingdom; thus, finally being chosen as the Kung companion, and a very close friend to Kung Lao's lone rabbit.
- The idea on having a neglected capybara was inspired by another capy named Lexus; he was born prematurely, much like Ikran, and also neglected, thus being taken in by the benevolent Sodeguara zookeeper and acting strangely compared to most of his species.
- The name Jehn was just an alternative spelling from Jen Reyland in Mortal Kombat Conquest.
