King Jerrod, also known as Jerrod, also spelled as Jerod, is a minor character occasionally referenced in Sindel's backstory. He is described as once being the King of Edenia before Edenia's finest warriors lost in Mortal Kombat. He was eventually defeated and killed by Shao Kahn's forces. He was succeeded by his wife, Queen Sindel, who married the Kahn, and his only daughter, Princess Kitana. His physical appearance is unknown as it has never been clearly shown in-game, but because he was from Edenia, it is assumed he was human-like and had lived for a very long time.
It is of note, however, that a beheaded statue can be found in the Edenia realm in Mortal Kombat: Deception Konquest mode. The face appears to be of a bearded man. When the player talks to nearby non-player characters who are the denizens of Edenia, they will state: "The statue is of King Jerrod, who ruled Edenia many thousands of years ago."
In Sindel's Mortal Kombat: Armageddon ending, Jerrod is referenced once again. In it, she uses her newfound powers as a goddess to resurrect her husband and reunite him with her and their daughter Kitana.
King Jerrod's downfall was depicted in the Malibu Comics Mortal Kombat comic books Kitana and Mileena: Sister Act, and the Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm episode Overthrown.
In Ermac's Arcade Ladder ending of Mortal Kombat (2011), it is revealed that one of the many souls that compose his being is King Jerrod. When Ermac is freed from Shao Kahn's enslavement, Jerrod's soul is able to take control of the warrior's body, quelling the numerous other souls fighting to assert themselves. Guided by his dominant soul, Ermac returned to Edenia and claimed Jerrod's kingship, protecting the realm alongside Sindel and Kitana While Ermac's ending is non-canon, John Vogel has confirmed that Jerrod's soul is a part of Ermac.
In the New Era, Jerrod was father to both Kitana & Mileena and consort of Sindel. He helped Liu Kang forge the Mortal Kombat tournament. After his death, his soul was absorbed into the Living Forest. He rested there for centuries, until his soul was co-opted by Quan Chi into becoming part of the being Ermac.
Return of the Dragon King[]
Jerrod was first revealed within Ermac's vessel! Kahn's kollection of souls was freed from his thrall after Kenshi used his telepathy to envision the chains binding him, then using his empowered blade to slice them into shreds! Ermac held his head and recalled the lulling song Aiko was whistling. From that, his eyes cleared from an eerie green to amber! He then assisted Kenshi on healing her koncussion, revealing his true identity! He remorsed the fact he was mindlessly serving Kahn after death via fusing souls. He declared to redeem himself and he offered to give Kenshi and Aiko a lift to the royal Edenian Palace after hearing news of Onaga's resurrection.
By the time he, Kenshi and Aiko reached the Palace, the guardsmen blocked their entry. They complained on the Queen's disappearance and now dealing with more intruders... Jerrod, by speaking his normal voice despite the eerie getup, tried to assure them otherwise, and Kenshi proved he was correct by projecting Ermac's thoughts onto them. Eventually, they remembered the long-lost ruler, while Aiko was whistling the song she heard while zoning out. Recognizing the melody and reading Jerrod's thoughts they stated Sindel, Jade and half of the royal guard had left to find Onaga's remains. He remembered they'd be preserved in the Lost Tomb, and he grew suspicious. He then decided to take the pair there, but before he did, the guards gave Ermac a special stitching for his uniform, which was said to represent the yaz letter to symbolize him as a free man!
Jerrod stopped the erratic Kitana from harming Sindel and Jade as he tossed her away via soul kinesis. Kenshi then ordered Aiko to repeat the same song she whistled, and he amplified that into Kitana's mind. She eventually was saved, and Jerrod unveiled himself from his Ermac attire to be the lost ruler of Edenia!! There was a tearful reunion by Kitana, Jade, and Sindel, only moments before Kenshi interrupted to make some business. He offered his assistance to fight Onaga and his undead cronies and he stuck with the group back to Liu's Temple. While there, everyone, even Hanzo, was concerned on who the Edenian Champion was before Kahn took over the kingdom over 10,000 years ago. He enlisted he shall impersonate as him in order to use its Kamidogu onto the Dragon King; Sindel and Kitana grew bewildered, and he assured them that he'll succeed, even Liu was confident since he was a legion of souls conjured by the Emperor, thus his concealment and changing his identity!
Later on, he met up with Hanzo and a comatose Kung Lao. After Liu restored his mind, courtesy of it breaking by the Chaosrealm's intrinsic atmosphere, Lao was irritated reuniting with one of his old enemies! Jerrod assured he's not the intruder he knew, and he was willing to help since he knew Lao was one of the Champions needed to thwart the Dragon King. Soon the immense darkness hindered their progress, only for the Wu Shi Academy to be invaded by Liu's reanimated corpse and Dark Raiden governing him! He was able to save Liu's pure soul from being pulled away as well. He followed the heroes into the fray, although he only saved the injured Kenshi from the god's wrath into the Dragon Grotto. Minutes later, he held the refugees at bay before there was a large explosion that shook the Grotto! He then encountered the benevolent Raiden who assured everyone is safe and reminded the heroes they must finish the mission.
Jerrod was with Hanzo as they both stole their corresponding Kamidogu; he assured the dormant wraith he should use everything he has against the Dragon King even if he would be consumed by darkness. They met up with Lao, with Liu's spirit possessing him, Havik and Goro as they confronted Onaga head on! It took a while for him to make his move utilizing all the soul kinetic abilities Kahn gifted him, which were proven effective, but minute. Liu then suggested to break each of the Kamidogu, to which Jerrod agreed as Onaga'd fall with his source of power null and void. It worked, making Onaga vulnerable to each of the Kombatants' onslaughts and forcing him into Lao's F4 Tornado! He watched his soul ooze out of Reptile, even prevented Havik from killing off the Saurian as he caught him in his soul field before he gave him a kick into the Chaosrealm! Raiden escorted everyone to the Sky Temple.
It didn't take long for Jerrod to recover in the Jinsei. The Edenians were thrilled to see him alive and well, even when they were waiting for the Shaolins' fates. Lao was the first to recover followed by Liu Kang minutes later.
Final Kombat[]
Jerrod was still his noble self along with Sindel, Jade, Kitana and Asgaarth as they received word the Shokan'd be relocating to Australia; Sheeva and Goro made the declaration, and he grew concerned as to why they wanted to relieve their duties and their species. That was until Kintaro barged in! Goro was able to show him some manners and as long as he won't work for Kahn, despite mistreating the Shokan in favor of the Centaurs, he may take over.
Minutes later, Liu and Kitana arrived and discussed the battle of Armageddon. Jerrod and Sindel were aware though dreaded the calamity. They also knew of the ancient legends involving Argus and Delia and their preparations as he erected the pyramid, she created Blaze and put their sons to sleep until the disaster. They both also feared their old enemies would return, including Kahn who would control him again; Jade was optimistic that Kenshi can free him and that Nightwolf would provide some protection. He did offer Baraka to help them out, even Li Mei. He also separated the heart gems from Liu, Kitana and Sindel and shielded them in his soul field to disable reception from Shinnok and his doppelganger.
A desperate Hanzo ran up to the throne room requesting for a portal leading to Earthrealm, particularly to the Shirai Ryu base, so that the cursed Kombatant would spend his last minutes holding Takeda before the battle. Jerrod gladly did just that.
Jerrod helped to prepare everyone before the Battle of Armageddon and promised to protect his family there; he along with Sindel, Baraka and the Chameleons supported Mileena and her parents were the only ones remembering her before she was cloned. He also wished Kitana would arrive and do the same... Jerrod and Sindel were both cornered by Shao Kahn and his lethal Hammer, until they'd been spared. Thanks to Liu's fire cocoon and Cetrion's tears, they were revitalized and still stand as Edenia's strong leaders, even when they congratulated Taven as Edenia's new Protector God and Kintaro took the fold as bodyguard while the Shokan left for Australia. They were also relieved that Kitana and Liu Kang were still alive, albeit different incarnates, as they officially became time hoppers but are more than welcome to visit.
Kontentment[]
Jerrod, along with Sindel, arrived within the Edenian Palace and met up with Kitana and Fire God Liu Kang. Although, the latter couple hastily went into the realm via Hourglass as Kitana hastily expedited it utilizing the Krown while he passed out... The monarchs took them in, and the time-hoppers tried to hide their amazement on knowing who they were. Still, Liu became attached to the peaceful kingdom, and they soon knighted the couple as its defenders. Before they knew it, they were fending off Shao Kahn and his generals, with the might of Fire God Liu Kang! Argus was astonished and escorted him before the Elder Gods bestowing him worship and Kitana ascending to goddess status! Sindel and Jerrod granted them their blessings, and they tied the knot!
Unfortunately, due to the death of the Great Kung Lao after winning over Goro, Liu erased all history...
That was until Kitana became ill just weeks after Armageddon. Liu carried her to the Palace after Caro's portal, and the royals tended to her. Until she went into labor and delivered their grandson, Cheung Kang!
Koherence[]

Jerrod using a soul of a deceased Keytar player and playing the instrument
Jerrod with Sindel stood before Aiko and Kenshi as they discussed their strategy on restoring hearts from across the realms. They decided to perform a riveting rock song which would also be a safeguard against the Matokan drums in Aiko's case. Thru his collection of souls, he found one who plays a keytar; Aiko didn't know one actually existed! He made one materialize, and he shortly became an expert playing it! Kenshi already suggested to visit Raiden's Sky Temple as well as picked a number, though they have 3 days to pull it off.
With Kenshi's perceptions and his quick mastery of the soul-coated keytar, he was more than ready! He was never fazed by the murmurs of the Matokan drums emanating from Aiko's heart gems in the band's possession. And he along with Kenshi were the strongest leaders on both the first number and the backup number as the ceremony dragged on longer than expected. Even when he made the breakthrough as Fujin, Aiko, Ashrah and Kenshi sang the chorus twice closing the performance! He was uplifted by the stunning positive impact knowing he did well to restore the Shaolin's hearts while safeguarding his friends'!
