John Myers was a B.P.R.D. agent that debuted in the first Hellboy film, but has made no further appearances.
Hellboy[]
John Myers joins the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense in the beginning of the first movie. He is a transfer from the FBI, Quantico, and finds that his new job appeared to be at a 'Squeaky Clean Waste Management Services.' He presses the button labeled 103 and is quickly greeted by a fast voice. After he reveals who he is, a machine pops out of the speaker and takes a picture of John's eyes.
John Myers enters the building and is taken to Section 51. The character is used to introduce Abe Sapien, a human/fish who lives in Professor Trevor Bruttenholm's study. Myers remarked Abe was weird, also calling him it when asking how Abe knew so much about him. Myers also meets the main character, Hellboy.
Hellboy and Myers immediately begin a harsh relationship after the red demon finds out his liaison, Agent Clay, who he has known for years, is going to be replaced by a newbie.
Clay whispers information about Hellboy to Myers, in an attempt to avoid confusion and to better help the new 'nanny.' The information includes Hellboy's love for cats, his filed horns, and that his favorite candy, Baby Ruths, should be offered whenever Hellboy gets angry or in a bad mood.
Myers joins Hellboy and Abe on the first mission of the movie, when there is a break-in at the Machen Library where police and S.W.AT. are everywhere. Hellboy and Abe are delivered hiding in the back of a garbage truck. When John helps Hellboy, Hellboy remarks that nobody helps him. However, he eventually asked John to reload his gun when things are getting worse. Myers then had to keep a Sammael's egg sack that stuck on Hellboy's arm while Hellboy managed to shoot the creature with a tracker bullet. As he tries to catch up with Hellboy, John is struck by a car, and when another comes at him, Hellboy throws the car into the air, saving John in process.
After Hellboy defeats the creature, Myers calls Hellboy via his communication device, where Hellboy said that he wanted to visit someone, whom later revealed as Liz Sherman. When he later learned her identity, John said that he would try to bring her back, despite the fact that Hellboy said that it won't improve their relationship. Meanwhile, as he successfully persuades Liz to return, Clay is killed by the infamous Nazi assassin, Kroenen while searching for another Sammael's nest within the city sewers, leaving Hellboy and injured Abe as the survivors. John is later seen ignoring Hellboy when Hellboy had a fight with Tom Manning, whom angered with Hellboy's reckless nature.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army[]
In the second movie, Liz states that Hellboy had Myers "transferred to Antarctica."
Ikran's Fantastic 4 OC series[]
John Myers was first mentioned in Terri's diary. He was the one who was a sort of a guide for her in the Big Apple. They'd bonded so much that they became fast friends, but ever since he joined Hellboy and his cohorts, he was usually away. Whether it'd be bonding with Liz or heading to Moscow to search for the red monkey's father's assassin. By the time he came back, Terri knew that Myers was dumped by Liz and stuck with Hellboy instead. They hung out a lot, even to the point when Johnny kept mocking Terri he's her boyfriend.
Eventually, she stopped being embarrassed and considered him as such. He still functioned as an FBI agent, in freelance and having a more flexible position, and he admired the Fantastic 4, even Terri joining it. He took her to the cruise in their honor.
By the time the quartet was disbanded, Myers met up with Terri as Reed was recovering from his ruptured spleen. He was relieved the team was together again. He was also invited to Reed and Sue's wedding, only as security, though; he and Terri were invited together, though they were separated in the ceremony, and Norrin's sudden attacks there! Myers came to Terri's side as she collapsed when the Surfer's essence overloaded her sensitive mind! She recovered, and even he witnessed Sue being erratic as she switched powers with Johnny. Eventually, he stayed in New York as Terri and the team were chasing after Norrin to London. He provided some moral support to her on their failures and Victor joining. By the time Norrin was captured in Germany, Myers hid in a bush and grabbed and pulled Terri away from the military. He secretly planned to head to Moscow, and provide her a more warmer uniform; similar to one he wore in Moscow!
After Terri caused the guard dogs to sleep, he found a side vent where only she can fit! He wished her luck, then he came to the team's aide confronting Frankie as they were carrying the Surfer and pursuing Victor. After Norrin destroyed Galactus, Myers was invited to the Chinese wedding with Terri this time! Even brought to Italy in the FantastiCar as they fixed the problem in the Adriatic.
He also met up with Terri before the mission on searching for Shalla-Bal, giving her a good luck kiss in the Arctic Circle. He also met up with her again when the mission was successful.
Trivia[]
- Like with Reed, Ikran grew infatuated with Myers as she saw Hellboy because of his compassion, courage, and commitment to Liz, being Hellboy's younger successor, etc. Though since he stuck with Liz, Ikran decided to give Myers a more prominent role.
- Ikran chose a couple song for Myers and Terri, which ironically was used in The Simpsons for Marge and Homer, Close to You by The Carpenters!
