Kintaro is a character from the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. He made his debut in Mortal Kombat II as the game's sub-boss and became playable in Mortal Kombat Trilogy.

Kintaro returned as a non-playable sub-boss in Mortal Kombat (2011) alongside Goro and Shang Tsung, although the latter was a playable character.

Kintaro replaced Goro after Goro was defeated by Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat. He is the only member of his race seen thus far to have unique features. Unlike Goro and Sheeva, Kintaro has tiger striped markings all over his body as well as sharp fangs, claws and feline-like feet. According to his Mortal Kombat (2011) bio, this is indicative of the lower-class Tigrar clan of Shokan, differing from the more elite-class Draco clan that Goro and Sheeva belong to, so there are likely more of his kind out there. It should be noted that in each new game, his feline features stand out more than the last.

Kintaro

Appearance in Final Kombat

Kintaro remembered Liu Kang and Kung Lao decimating him in Kahn's Arena during the second tournament. Somehow, he defected from the Netherrealm like the other Forces of Darkness.

At one point, he has a lethal match against Goro, as a flashback when he fought him inside the Edenian throne room. It was a tough battle, although since Goro had more ferocity while Kintaro was nimbler, he had the advantage. He never killed him, and Sheeva approved with the decision on sparing him, as with the lesson with Kung Lao, he made peace with the Centaurs and he's willing to do the same for the Tigerians. Goro was at a crossroads as whether he'd want to stay with Queen Sindel or move to Australia where the Shokan would live. As soon as they'd find and kill Kano.

The Shokan were successful on clearing out all crimes in Australia; it made Sheeba and Goro work out with the Prime Minister, as well as world leaders, to have them relocate and become new protectors of Earthrealm! As several retired, they anointed Kintaro as a valuable bodyguard for the Edenian Resistance.

Trivia[]

  • It's possible Ikran shall include him as one of her Felines in Video Games in the future.
  • In MK9, Kung Lao defeated the Deadly Alliance and Kintaro within Kahn's Koliseum.
