The Kuatan Jungle is a stage located in Outworld and was once the homeland of a long forgotten and now extinct race. It debuted in Mortal Kombat X.
The Kuatan Jungle features a humid jungle filled with vine covered statues and temple fragments scattered about, with long vines hanging from the treetops above. Massive jungle animals from Outworld, one resembling an alligator and another resembling an overgrown cobra, can be seen moving through the foliage, observing the kombatants before leaving. Ankle deep swamp water covers the ground from runoff from a river in the background.
Theme song: Kuatan Jungle (Mortal Kombat X)
Interactions[]
The Kuatan Jungle features five arena interactions. From farthest left to right they are:
- A large stone statue in the shape of a face that can run up on to escape the corner.
- A vine that can be used to jump kick the opponent multiple times.
- A statue that the opponent can be rammed into or can be jumped off of.
- A lone vine that can be jumped and grabbed onto to dodge attacks.
- A vine that can be used to jump kick the opponent multiple times.
Stage Brutality[]
- Newly added in Version Update 1.06, the player can now ram the opponent's head into the statue with enough force to make it explode. Requires two stage interactions.
Trivia[]
- The stage was originally named Jungle but was later renamed Kuatan Jungle prior to Mortal Kombat X's release.
- Kuatan Jungle appears in the cartoon movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, where Sonya Blade fights Reptile.
The Return of the Dragon King[]
Li Mei led Hanzo and Kung Lao thru the desolate, humid, overcrowded jungle in order to find the ancient Outworld portal without the detection of Onaga and his new followers. Dead carcasses littered the forest floor, indicating some enemies were there. Unfortunately, while they found the gateway, luck wasn't on their side as the trio was surrounded by archers and the undead Johnny Cage approached. Lao never wanted to fight him, but Hanzo warned words wouldn't convince a wraith. Reluctantly, Lao fought him back, almost seamlessly, even while using the vines to his advantage.
A dart nearly brushed his hat as the archers drew their weapons, forcing the heroes to submit. Fujin, via whirlwind, swiped them off their feet and offered to take the wounded Cage and Li Mei to safety while Lao and Hanzo escape thru the portal! The Wind God hesitated as he observed red lightning, thinking it may belong to his brother... Before he sent the stragglers to Earthrealm. Onaga, Sonya and Jax surveyed the damage.
