Laguna Loire is a temporarily playable character in Final Fantasy VIII. For most of the game the player experiences Laguna through playable flashbacks explained to the player as the main characters' dreams. He wields a machine gun.
Laguna Loire is the third representative of Final Fantasy VIII introduced in Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy. Laguna was once a soldier of the Galbadian Army alongside Kiros and Ward, whose backstories were explained through flashbacks and playable dream sequences. The brotherly soldier quit the army, became a journalist, starred in a movie, and eventually became the new president of Esthar, where he crossed paths with the recipients of his experiences while assisting him in his battle against the sorceress Ultimecia.
In Dissidia 012's story mode, his rival is the Cloud of Darkness.

Body of Dark, Heart of Light[]
Laguna was excited to meet the new Cosmos warrior, Cecil, as he and his friends saw him in Order's Sanctuary.
Dissidia Shadowgate[]
Laguna fell during the 12th cycle as he assisted Kain, Yuna, Vaan, Lightning and Tifa while sealing up the Rift to prevent the Manikins from multiplying. He and his comrades had wound up in Stormhaven ever since, along with Shantotto and Prishe earlier. They'd been stuck there till Firion and his posse showed up. He reunited with his son, even though he was always antisocial. He accepted the mission with gusto as it was to prevent the Behemoth from arising and wreaking havoc on various worlds. He did assist the group at times, mostly Vaan, Squall, Zidane and Bartz against the firedrake. He was also impressed that Bartz finally got his deeper memories. He was always the optimistic member of the group, even when he encountered the Behemoth. He did fall trying, till Firion settled things. He was actually glad on all the progress his son made, even accepting his fellow comrades whether together or apart, as always, the protective wolf to them.
In the epilogue, Laguna was holding Squall as a baby from Ellone; he decided to name him Squall of his strong spirit.
Trivia[]
- Laguna Loire was Kou Leifoh's expy; he was made before the obnoxious, optimistic Bouncer was, and they were both created by Tetsuya Nomura.
