LiuKangsGrandfather

This kind, old man is Liu Kang's Grandfather and a member of the Order of Light. He appears in the first Mortal Kombat movie. He informs his grandson of his brother Chan's death. He's apparently Liu's only living relative other than his brother. He likely raised them after their parents' death. He fears for his grandson's life since he isn't ready to participate in the tournament, but Raiden tells him he's their only hope.

He was portrayed by late actor, Lloyd Kino.

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Part II[]

He was seen briefly at the Temple of Light when Kung Lao reunited with the elder monks after he'd been gone for three months. He said Liu Kang and the monks were worried sick, and he was concerned over Lao's worries involving the Mortal Kombat Champion curse. He also believed that Earthrealm won't be safe for long since Shao Kahn has been revived. He soon became a caretaker to protect Kung Jin and Aiko during his invasion, until the latter was guarded by Lao.

By the time Earthrealm retained perpetual peace after Liu Kang destroyed Kahn, he escorted the monks and Jin out from their shelter. He was glad to see Kung Lao and Aiko in one piece; he also volunteered to be a trainer to her on becoming a member of the White Lotus Society!

Shinnok's Uprising[]

He was only seen briefly, welcoming Liu Kang's return from America and greeted his gifted disciple, Kai. He stayed with the Order of Light as the heroes investigated the fallen meteor, which turned out to be weak Elder God, Fujin.

He was seen again, alarmed as Kung Lao and Aiko were escorting the escapees of Edenia into the Wu Shi Academy. He and the Order weren't expecting otherworlders near the Temple so soon, especially with Shinnok's war still raging; Raiden alerted him and his fellow monks of the oncoming threat, and he urged the two heroes to assist Liu Kang and accomplish the mission.

The war was won, and he was one of the spectators summoned by Raiden as he bid his final farewell to Earthrealm, enlisting Fujin as his successor...

Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]

He was seen after the death of Liu Kang as he was too frail to attend his services. He wished for Raiden to bury him somewhere discreet, away from another invasion; the Thunder God suggested to erect a separate tomb while he and his comrades shall keep the Deadly Alliance at bay. He had a flashback on when the Monks were attending Chan's services before Liu's involvement in the first tournament; back then he was skeptical on the wise man's words on how the tournament determines all of humanity, and that Chan and the Monks believed in it, even announcing Liu as the Chosen One. He figured it was deja vu as Shang killed both brothers, and it may be a sign of Lao's destiny.

Along with the other monks, he cheered for their victory against the Deadly Alliance, and mourned for his grandson's ascension. He was also one of the monks that set up Liu's new Tomb, even lighting a candle of incense and prayed for a safe passage into the afterlife, reuniting with his lost kid grandson and Liu's parents. That was until Nightwolf broke the news of Onaga's reincarnation!

Return of the Dragon King[]

He was first seen inside the Temple of Light where he was meditating, though it wasn't until he heard the voice of his grandson that stupefied him! He assured he wasn't hallucinating and that he was real, and he needed to know some answers. He asked who Shujinko and Damashi were, to whom the monk knew the former as a tween before Liu was born. He stated Shujinko was a local celebrity desiring to be famous and leave the little village to prepare as the next upcoming Champion. On one fateful day, he never returned... The elder never knew of anyone named Damashi. Not as a name, at least, but rather as a Japanese word. To Liu's alarm, he mentioned it meant Deception! Liu was startled by this as he left posthaste to Jerrod!

Final Kombat[]

Liu's grandfather wasn't around much before Armageddon, though he did hope for the best for Liu, Lao, Raiden and others who participated. He stayed with the Shaolin as they held onto Aiko's heart gems as they received word and prayed for their victory and safety of all the realms. It was hard letting him know of the sacrifices of Liu and Raiden, but due to their previous deaths, he didn't feel too emotional... He was aware that Lao, whom he claimed his only son left, would honor them still. He still stuck with the Order of Light, and welcomed Lao back to their ranks as he seeked enlightenment.
