Liu Kang's Tomb

Liu Kang's Tomb made its premiere in Mortal Kombat Deception. The tomb is located in a nearby wood next to the Wu Shi Academy in Earthrealm.

Overview[]

This tomb is where the noble Shaolin warrior Liu Kang is preserved after he was killed by the Deadly Alliance. The masters of the Wu Shi Academy had his body carefully preserved and hidden deep in the nearby forest, away from the forces of evil. Academy students come to Liu Kang's Tomb periodically for retreats and meditations on their lessons. Four medallions showing his four Mortal Kombat victories are displayed above the eternal flame of his memory.

The tomb was later desecrated by a corrupted Raiden, who had become angry at how Earthrealm has fallen into danger so many times. He robbed Liu Kang's body and resurrected it as his personal enforcer. The Shaolin Monks who come to his tomb are later mercilessly slaughtered by his body.

This arena is just a straight up, normal round arena with no death traps or lower levels, that features a weapon called Quadspade that can be picked up.

Theme song: Liu Kang's Tomb (Mortal Kombat: Deception)

Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]

Raiden requested for the Shaolin to erect a tomb for Liu Kang before he and his heroes would embark into Outworld and decimate the Deadly Alliance. The Wu Shi initiates got started as the team was gone for about a week before their successful return. The monks built the hearth for the most part, and an eternal central flame was burning in it, with three of Liu's medals dangled from it. Series of candles were burning around it, and Kung Lao added his own and placed it between them. There was an elongated moment of silence as Lao reflected on memories fighting with and against his Shaolin brother... He took out the dragon amulet for Liu to see, and he forgave Lao for his ill will. Liu stated for him to stay strong as his destiny'd be in full circle with their common ancestor, the Great Kung Lao. Liu was about to reunite with his lost family, until Nightwolf cried that he received a night terror of Onaga being reincarnated!

Return of the Dragon King[]

Aiko was left behind while Kung Lao, Sonya, Jax, Kitana and Nightwolf took the agent's portal to Outworld. Minutes later, she can't stand still as she became very anxious pacing in the place until another rip opened revealing Kenshi! He offered her to kome along, as they both sensed something was amiss in Outworld. They arrived within the shambles of Shang Tsung's Palace.

Aiko, Kenshi, Kitana, Jade, Sindel, Jerrod, Liu Kang and half of the Edenian guard arrived via portal from Outworld. The heroic monk mentioned the last relic, Shinnok's Amulet, was hidden within the Temple of Elements which seemed to be nearby; however, he wasn't sure where exactly. He also suggested to contact either Kuai or Hanzo, to Kenshi's astonishment he was still alive! Kenshi got across Hanzo who seemed to tend to an unconscious Kung Lao; even he was uncertain since he only arrived via portal. He soon lost the signal and suspected it was due to the Special Forces still within Onaga's control! Fortunately, he used Aiko's heart gem as an alternative, in which Kung Lao had the same! They discussed Hanzo found all the Champions, excepting Hotaru who'd work for the dragon and oppose Havik and Chaos, while the Edenian Champion was undecided. He believed he'd perished over 10,000 years ago as Outworld merged and won 10 straight Mortal Kombat victories. Fortunately, Jerrod decided to bend the rules, as a legion of souls, he could impersonate with his essence and use the Kamidogu. He was successful and offered Liu to accompany him.

Taking a blind guess, the rest of the group headed north, until Fujin aided them.

There was an intruder entering the holy grounds and unearthed Liu's remains, which made the alarm blare at Nightwolf's den! It turned out to be Dark Raiden who was reformed after his sacrifice onto Onaga! He took the corpse to the Houan Temple almost completely destroyed. Soon after he began his invasion by attacking anyone who posed as a threat to Earthrealm with Liu's corpse as the enforcer! Near the Tomb, Lao and Liu's spirit confronted the duo, but were overpowered by Dark Raiden like Kenshi and Fujin. Until Nightwolf activated an EMP and conjured a rainstorm to restore the benevolent God's strength and struck his counterpart! The Tomb remained deafeningly silent after that...

It's likely it'd be used as a peaceful sanctuary for meditation and training.

Final Kombat[]

This secluded place wasn't visited until after Liu and Raiden's sacrifices onto Blaze... Lao and Aiko made their respects there, and he made a few offerings to Liu's prestigious statue as he gave away his arm blades, Liu's dragon armor, and the new red headband after Liu and Raiden merged... Lao was hesitant as he made the last offer due to mounting grief but once he did, he collapsed and sobbed hard. All Aiko did was remain by his side, and they hardly notice the eternal flame churning to blue... The elderly man descended and whispered Lao's name and the couple were stupefied to see Fire God Liu Kang but an elderly God and the new Keeper of Time. He explained he'd been watching over Earthrealm since it's development after he decimated Kronika, made the elder Kitana a goddess, and retrieved the Krown from Shang before he trained the Great Kung Lao. Since then, he'd been anticipating either Armageddon or the revenant invasion, in which he foresaw the latter after Aiko was brought into the world... He brought Aiko and Baraka into the past and saved them while he transmitted riddles to Earth's chosen in hopes to stop Blaze; luckily, he succeeded and denounced that Lao's legacy has come full circle. He was anointed as Chosen One and Earth's protector with Fujin. He wished to see them again as he shall travel thru time freely.

It was shown that five golden medals were hung, each symbolizing Liu's victories: from the two tournaments to Kahn's invasion, to the Deadly Alliance's demise in conjunction with Onaga's, to Blaze's.

Trivia[]

  • The theme of the stage was confirmed to be a "funeral song" for Liu Kang, which was created by Dan Forden. This caused him to make this song because he was saddened of Liu Kang's death, during the aftermath of Deadly Alliance.
  • The four Mortal Kombat medals are the number of Liu Kang's victories over the first four Mortal Kombat games, despite the fact that only the first two games actually involved tournaments, while the latter two were against Earthrealm invasions by Shao Kahn and Shinnok.
  • Unlike in the games, Ikran's Khronology featured five medals: from Liu's victories in the first two tournaments, to Kahn's invasion, to his and Lao's victory over the Deadly Alliance and Onaga's combined, and Blaze's.
