Magikarp (Japanese: コイキング Koiking) is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I.
Magikarp is a fish-like Pokémon from the Kanto region. Magikarp is extremely abundant and can be found pretty much anywhere. It is known as the weakest and most pathetic Pokémon in the world considering that it doesn't do much. It doesn't have a lot of attacks, and its specialty is flopping around. Heck it can't even be eaten as it's made of bones as Meowth found out when he tried to eat it.
Laughingly enough, Magikarp can evolve into a massive and incredibly powerful Pokémon named Gyarados, which is a really great attacker, incredibly massive and extremely intimidating.
Its name is a combination of magic and carp. It is possibly mocking it as someone that is supposedly magic to be incredibly powerful, it is actually not. However, it is said that a carp can transform into a dragon, which is indeed magical.
Magikarp is a pathetic excuse for a Pokémon that is only capable of flopping and splashing. This behavior prompted scientists to undertake research into it.
Magikarp is virtually useless in battle as it can only splash around. As a result, it is considered to be weak. However, it is actually a very hardy Pokémon that can survive in any body of water no matter how polluted it is.
Ikran's Lost OoT/Pokémon crossover[]
Magikarp was first seen swimming in Zora's Domain and was the first to faint within Jabu Jabu.
