Makeba is an immense cliff located in the realm of Outworld.
It is home to a small village also called Makeba, whose people, including their giant drummers, resides here within the mountainside, and it is home to the Drum Arena, where the villagers held their trials and watch the fights. Konga is their chieftain and often fights off those who dare to oppose him.
Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]

Concept of Makeba
The Makeba function the same way as they do in the game. Only they'd been expanded in this story.

Konga koncept
While the heroes were making the journey to the Deadly Alliance, and crossing the Sarna Desert, Aiko overheard amongst the conversation with Kenshi of the enticing tribal drums. Nightwolf couldn't make out their messages and they chased after her as she was mesmerized by the Makeba's irresistible ritual. Aiko wandered onto the epicenter of the Drum Arena and their tribe leader, Konga, emerged from the crowd. She made a kowtow addressing him as chieftain as the drums beat faster and harder as worshippers. Konga caressed her and took her in, much to Kung Lao's irritation! Kenshi volunteered to challenge him to a duel to retrieve Aiko and her entranced mind, as well as steal the Dragonfly. He won, and the thrall was broken over her. While Lao teleported her away from the raging crowd, Kenshi managed to hijack the airship. With the vessel, the Kombatants boarded it quickly as they avoided deadly flying darts!
Unaliving War[]

Outworld drum in MK1, possibly Makeba

The Outworld Makeba drumline as Chieftain Kang, Chieftess Aiko and Revenants Kung Lao and Nightwolf bang on the massive bongos, with Liu and Nightwolf alternating top and sides, and Aiko hitting the top while Lao assists her.
In the Unaliving War roleplay, Aiko suggested to Unaliving Liu Kang that in order to convert everyone, including their brethren, without resorting to violence, she brought up her enticing experience with the Makeba tribe as they were heading thru Outworld. Following Nightwolf's lead mimicking the tribe's mesmerizing rituals, they began to summon them in order to empower as many recruits as possible into the darkness before warring onto the Elder Gods. Liu was enthralled with her "magnificent technique," and there'd be not a greater force combined with his deadly skills in kombat!
- It's possible they wielded similar customs to the Aboriginals of Earthrealm such as the Native Americans and their origin, the Africans, who introduced their tribal ways to the land of opportunity. Although the Makeba's magical prowess is more powerful than generations later on Earth. It's likely during Onaga's union of Outworld, the Makeba transferred via portal their intriguing abilities as some relocated upon his dominance, and first settled at the prehistoric supercontinent, Pangea.
