Mavado is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. He made his debut in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.
Introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Mavado in many respects embodies the underworld antipode of Kano. Whereas Kano seems to rely mainly on scare tactics and brute force, Mavado relies on discipline and superior intelligence to fight. In battle, he uses a pair of signature grappling hooks to augment his attacks, allowing him to propel himself quickly around the arena. Mavado is a leading figure, second only to Daegon, within the Red Dragon, which the games reveal to be an ancient criminal organization whose existence is known only to its members, and whose most prominent rivals are the Black Dragon, an offshoot of the Red Dragon which was led by Kano but is now reformed under the leadership of Kabal. Mavado is depicted as a vicious, pitiless, and cruel crimelord.
Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]
Mavado was seen with Hsu Hao as the Kombatants emerged onto Shang's Palace Grounds. Kenshi tackled them down as soon as he sensed Hsu's heart laser nearly decimating them. There were rumors the Red Dragons were working for the Deadly Alliance, which had been confirmed. Mavado was proven to be quite the lethal threat even against Kenshi and Jax! Kenshi received most of his brutal attacks including his Long Fist, his elongating grappling hooks, and hook swords in which Sonya presumed they were enhanced from Kabal's! By the time Jax decided to deal with the crime lord, after Hsu Hao's demise, he packed a wallop! His brute force was enough to slow down Mavado, just enough to have him caught in Kenshi's psychokinetic field, which eventually resulted Mavado's eyes spewing out!!
Final Kombat[]
Somehow, Mavado had been revived after his gory defeat at the hands of Jax and psychokinesis of Kenshi. He met up with the head of the Red Dragons, Daegon, who ordered him to decimate Taven, leaving his brother bewildered after declaring his betrayal. Mavado was clashing his hookswords against Taven's Drakesword and was about to be on a losing streak, until the base was firebombed! Mavado lost, though it was most likely he escaped along with his master before the base blew up and got buried by the Charred Mountain avalanche.
