Moloch is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series. He made his debut in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, in which he also served as the sub-boss. Moloch then became playable in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

The three-eyed Moloch is a massive, lumbering Oni originally from the Netherrealm carrying a massive, chained orb, who made his debut in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance as a non-player character (excluding third-party devices). However, in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Moloch is a readily playable character in the game. He has typical mini boss abilities such as great strength, devastating moves and a few weak spots to exploit for the typically more nimble but weaker opponent. In Deadly Alliance, Moloch is the sub-boss before both Shang Tsung and Quan Chi, and he has no fatality.

In Armageddon, Moloch is shown to be a bit smaller or rather less bulky than he was in Deadly Alliance. Also, it is worth noting that he was not carrying his trademark Mystical Orb (aka Giant Ball of Death) despite the chain still being wrapped around his arm. Originally, it was believed this would mean the Orb would be his weapon fighting style in the game, but it's since been shown he only has one fighting style, leaving the mystery of why the Orb is missing unanswered. However, the Orb does appear in his hand during some of his special moves and his versus screen picture.

Mortal Kombat: Vengeance[]

Raiden once mentioned that Moloch, along with his Oni partner Drahmin, escaped from the Netherrealm around the same time Quan Chi did.

By the time the heroes made it in the Lost Tomb, Aiko sensed the same pair of turquoise eyes that had been following them. After a glimmer of metal, she yelled a heads up to Kung Lao! His hat scratched his face and the beast revealed himself! Hanzo identified him as Moloch and out came Drahmin. Aiko queried who can help their informant and Jax challenged the brute! They seemed evenly matched, even when it came down to their exceptional strength and quakes! By the time Hanzo stunned Drahmin, he outmatched Moloch easily, even when his sword sliced his ball and chain asunder and impaled him! Moloch was too weak to respond, thus Drahmin being his interpreter as they were chasing after Quan Chi, another Oni, as he abandoned them in the underworld! Quan promised to protect the duo, however, he slipped into Outworld along with Shang! He was soon teleported away by Drahmin milliseconds before Lao were to make his mark onto them.

Moloch ambushed the Kombatants inside his own lair after his living prisoner died. Hanzo teamed up with Baraka as the beast had Drahmin beside him. Prior to the battle, Shang mentioned in order to keep the Onis contained and not turn against Quan Chi, he fed them live souls beneath his oncoming Palace. His lethal ball was proven as a fatal weapon, until Drahmin was taken out by Baraka impaling him, and sliced Moloch's ball and chain! Vulnerable, Hanzo used his spear to draw in the ball and drive it back crushing the beast!

Final Kombat[]

Moloch's adversary was Jax who was at even footing with him. His extreme brawn and ball and chain were formidable weapons against his limited durability, even for his arms. He teamed up with Drahmin, but thanks to Liu's fire cocoon in conjunction with Blaze's, he was soon incinerated out of existence with his Oni associate.

Trivia[]

  • Erroneously, Ikran described there was a pair of glowing turquoise eyes following the heroes during MK: Vengeance; however, she wanted them to belong to Moloch and there were 3 golden eyes instead. Ikran hurriedly added that Moloch had an eyepatch covering his topmost eye and ripped it off before challenging the team and having them glow yellow as he fights his prey!
    • In her fic, he'd pretty much be portrayed like Bane from Batman & Robin, as he doesn't have a lot of speech, interpreted by Drahmin often, and is bulky as him.
