Max Gristle is the secondary antagonist of Brendam: Collision Course and a supporting character in Brendam: There and Back Again. He is one of Professor Zundapp's henchmen and Mr. Trout and Mr. Pickles' former partner.
The Boxtrolls[]
The shortest of Zundapp's henchmen, Max is perhaps the most sociopathic of the Lemons, second only to Zundapp himself. He follows orders with sadistic joy, taking delight in other people's misery and discomfort, even his own colleague's- when when the Super Powerful Ultra Gloomerator Glum Beam works on Brendam, for example, he could only giggle with glee as Pickles and Trout looked on in horror. Though he did help heal Snatcher's cheese fix by throwing leeches on his face, it was less about helping his fellow Red Hat and more about it being "funny" to him. Snatcher is also the least talkative of the Red Hats, often parroting single words that other people say with an enthusiastic shout, such as "Hat!" or "Throat!".
At the climax of the film, Max aids Zundapp in attempting to kill Eggs shortly after Trout and Pickles redeemed themselves, though he is stopped when the Boxtrolls attack him and throw him into a nearby barrel of leeches, getting bitten by several of them in the process, moments before Zundapp gets hit by Bernard in the Big Red Power Button and becomes gigantic. He stays in the barrel until the presumed death of Zundapp, when he gets out of the barrel and is finally killed after Zundapp's machine, The Zundapp Super-Gloomerator, collapses on top of him.
