Rick's flat with Tinsel
Mute City (ミュートシティ; Mute City) is a heavily populated fictional city on Earth in the F-Zero series. Its original name was Mutant City from which the current name is abbreviated. This city is the most famous location in the F-Zero Grand Prix and has had courses in almost every F-Zero game to date.
The population is over one billion, and consists of all kinds of sentient life. In F-Zero GX, Mute City is known as a "Metropolis in the Heart of the Space Federation" and the information link for the entire universe. It is also regarded as the most advanced and sophisticated city in the universe. In the future, Mute City is replaced by Bianca City as the center of economic, political, and cultural activity in the galaxy, due to a large deposit of pure titanium being discovered. It is also stated in the original F-Zero manual that Dr. Stewart is from Mute City.
In the anime, set in 2201, this was originally known as New York 150 years ago, before Rick Wheeler got out of cold sleep. At the end of Lap 15 in the Japanese dub, 100 years ago Mute City was the location that made contact with extraterrestrials, and the population and technology had been growing ever since. Underneath where Rick lives, there is a huge screen that reflects the sky. It could either be rainy or snowy and there's a readout that provides a lot of intel. It could either say today's Election Day, or it's time to take the trash out.

Ikran's F-Zero timeline[]
It does take note from the 26th century, and of course, it was the main area of the F-Zero tournaments, ever since the first race in the original Grand Prix at the Knight League, as well as the first round for the Queen and King Leagues. Heck, this also stationed past Grand Prixes for X and GX, even for the showdown against Black Shadow and Blood Falcon! Even the Fake Star race and countless others in the GPL races!
It's been home to many courses, even the Serial Gaps Tinsel and her friends trained in. Even housing the Falcon House, Rick and Tinsel's flats, and the Task Force Base, and Memory Park Rick often goes to and reflect on Haruka. There was soon a Warp Gate leading to Domino City too. A lot of people were born there, including Stewart, Rodney, Luna, Tinsel, Burt, Jody, Jack, EAD being created, Dr. Clash and countless others! It became the new home for Téa Gardner when she started her new ballerina career. It was such an advanced metropolis for Tinsel that she even refused to leave from her estranged dad as he moved to the southern Asian colonies. Until she and Rick decided to move to Port Town! Haruka was soon buried there too.
It impacted her so much, that she even wanted the first Knight League course be the setting for her and Rick's wedding on Oct. 9, 2577.
Rick and Tinsel were later saved by Rocket as he electrocuted stragglers from the Bloody Chain. The Guardians reunited with them, and their new Milano lifted off to a nearby maximum-security prison as they caught up.
